Awesomeness. Just be careful of the Hi-Twin Launchers. They're heavy and bulky, and it's difficult to keep them in an upright position if you don't use something to reinforce them. |

Oh? Do you have one too, kyo? And I expected as much. :\ I'll figure something out. Tomorrow I'll have free time! I'll need to see about buying a pair of clippers and some sandpaper on the way home. I might try painting it later. |

The only ones I got from the internet were the Dygenguard and Vysaga ones. I got those recently. I got the others while I was on vacation in Japan. Have I been ripped off...? Fakes...? . . . They still look cool, I guess, but... D: |

roflmao, wtf. Since when do you have to speak Moonspeak to be in Japan? It's an interesting country, according to my parents, or at least I'd assume so since they forced me there along with them. Anyway, I'll find the Vysaga one. I'll edit the link into this post in a bit. |

Your parents don't force you to come along when they feel like going somewhere? I believe gtfo is my line, then. Or maybe you have sane parents. Either way, it doesn't matter. Anyway... I can't find that link to the Vysaga model anymore. Which is strange, considering I'm holding it in my hand right now. It's probably not from Volks, though. I just thought it'd be fun to see how jealous saying that would make all of you. It kinda sucks that you went into detective mode instead of just spouting and fuming in jealousy. I was hoping you'd remedy my boredom. I guess congrats for defeating me so quickly, though. I'll go piss off some FEFFers for fun instead, now. |

There's no point in fuming jealously if I don't know the sauce. And my parents don't really go anywhere. Too busy. They barely have any free time whatsoever, so if I wanted to go to Japan(and they said they'd let me if I really wanted to go), I'd have to go alone. >__> |

D: I'm only on step two and I've already broken a piece. To be fair, this is less a result of my being clumsy and more a result of my being stupid and trying to take it apart, but I digress. It's one of the white parts of the shoulder, the ones that bridge across the blue? It's a small crack, but it is a total split, and while it's not that big, it's pretty visible if you have any sort of eye for detail at all. I did rubber cement it a little bit, so it's staying down, but there is a little gap. Anyway. I've been assembling it with my bare hands and a boxcutter. >__> Forgot to pick up sandpaper and clippers on the way home, and I'm waaaay too impatient. I've been using the boxcutter to cut the protrusions off and shave it until it's even or close to it. So far, it's working, but I'm worried about the white marks left by the cutting of the plastic; they're small, but pretty visible. Does sandpaper get rid of that? Once I'm done, kyo, I'll see about taking some pictures with a digital camera and posting them up here, so you can compare mine to yours. D: |

A boxcutter can do the job, but it's better to get a side cutter, like this one that I use: http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM74045 I find that it's better because it lessens the risk of cutting into the part or even yourself when removing the part from the sprue. I've never tried sandpaper, but I guess it should be the same as using a file. The marks shouldn't be a concern if you're going to paint the model later. To be honest, the R-Gun wasn't a great piece of work from me. I kinda got bored with it and rushed the job so I could get it out of the way. |

I'm playing with the idea of painting it, but I probably won't. >__> I can draw pretty well, actually, but I'm not that great at playing with color, and I'm worried about applying an even coat and getting lost in endless layers of correcting and correcting corrections. If a file is fine, I'll try using one. A bit late for the shoulders though. D: |

So, I, uh, I'm done. >__> With the R-Gun part, anyway, I still have to make the Hi-Twin Launchers. YOU'RE ALL WOMEN AND CHILDREN. That's what I feel like right now. I'm not particularly happy with the way it turned out, though I obviously am because it, well, turned out. The left arm keeps coming apart at the shoulder and elbow if I move it too much, and the hip plates are a bit loose as well. I had a problem with the left leg for a while, but I took it apart and jammed it in a bit tighter, and it seems to be just fine. So, yeah. I'll do the Hi-Twin Launchers in a bit. My fingers are killing me...actually, so is my head, I got hit right near the eye with a Frisbee this afternoon and then I sweated a couple ounces into the cut. |:x Augh, I feel like such a fucking amateur. <:D Although I am, I suppose, seeing as this is my first kit. On a related note, a quick look at HLJ's skill ranking says the R-Gun kit is a level 3, and you should have sandpaper/file, a hobby knife, and a bunch of other stuff(a lot having to do with painting, which, you know, <:D). I have...a boxcutter. I'm curious as to how badly this affected the end result. :x |

lol, good luck with the Hi-Twin Launchers. I think the R-Gun Powered was the most frustration-inducing model that I've built so far in my 10 or so years as a modeler. |

DAMN YOU YOU HAVE TEN YEARS ON ME I wanted a model since I was in kindergarten and was watching Gundam Wing(that means when I was 5-6, or about 9-8 years ago), but I was too poor then. :x Would you say the Hi-Twin Launchers are harder than the actual model? If they are, I might have a problem, but if not, then I won't. <:D |

The Launchers are actually rather easy to build. Making them stay properly connected on the R-Gun base is another matter. The slightest movement of the model can cause them to move out of position or even fall off. |

Hehehe...What a noob. An action figure can never replace the spot a model kit has in your heart. With an action figure, it is nothing more than molded plastic. A model kit is that too, but while putting it together, you pour your heart into it. Each completed model reflects the personality of its creator. Each model kit firmly belongs to who put it together. A mere action figure can never replace that. Just money can't replace the joy you feel upon completion. Those who would try to equate the two are simply hopeless. <:D |

An action figure doesn't take effort to look cool, and they're nowhere near as fragile. They're generally cheaper too. I don't know what this ''pour love into it'' nonsense means, as the only thing I ever pour into things is effort. And if I can get around that, then damn straight I will. |

The fact that you're even trying to compare the two on a technical basis shows your ignorance. The point of a model is not 'let me look and play with it!' That is only a highly desirable side-effect. The point is to create it yourself, to overcome difficulty and achieve your goal and marvel at the end result, the outcome that was achieved with your own two hands. Anyone who doesn't believe in that shouldn't be making models anyway, since they're too troublesome otherwise. |

Action figures vs Models is still a debateable subject. They're both things bought by money, and they're tools to provide you enjoyment. The action figure's advantages lie in durability, looks (unless you are a very skilled modeller), and price. Models give some people a sense of accomplishment, but not all feel this way. And in the end, this only slightly makes it better than action figures. So, part of the time, the action figure is a good deal superior. The other part, the model is slightly superior. In the end, the action figure has more superiorty.

Sorry, no. Action figures may have durability, but they almost NEVER look better than any decent model. And it's not like you have to be very skilled to make it look better than an action figure. You just need to be able to follow instructions and have the motor skills of a ten year old child. And, for the more advanced kits, experience(and sometimes miscellaneous supplies). Even unpainted though, a model rarely looks inferior to an action figure. To reduce it to 'enjoyment' and say that the sense of accomplishment is only a minor advantage is a logical fallacy, because the point of building a model is not to play with it, or even to look at it, in some cases; it's to BUILD it. To try and argue models VS action figures from this perspective is a fallacy in and of itself, because there's almost no common ground. You can argue concrete points(ie looks, durability, sentimental value), but when the goals of both differ, you can't actually compare it. |

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH So tonight was the night I decided 'goddamn you, I'm going to build those Hi-Twin Launchers.' Well, guess what. I'm missing my polycaps. rreoruijkrenjklrljkrgn;jklrgnjh;rgjrjajrj;grnj;al;;rglierjkjkerkj I've got everything except for my polycaps. They've disappeared, I have no idea where. Goddammit, goddammit, goddammit. I should've made them the day I made the rest of the R-Gun, but dammit, I'm just such a lazy fuck...oi vey. I'll keep looking for a little bit, but either I'm going to have to try to cut the left-over polycaps from the construction of the actual R-Gun, or I'm going to have to just leave my R-Gun Powered as an R-Gun for all eternity. jlkrg;liaqogih;qas;ldslkhg;awilherg;laskndv9eohq |
