Yeah, all of those are true. And I have to agree that the the ending was kinda... eh. Although, there was a chapter before the end, I forgot which, that I thought was good.

Overall, I guess it was okay. Better than the last one, I think. Although, a lot of it was just sitting out in the snow camping.

So do you like how she avoided giving Ron, Hermione and Harry jobs?
And does anyone else think, if she wanted to write a new book, it could be about Hermione? I mean, she plays a huge roles throughout the books, but where she's now with Harry like Ron was all the time, and since she's a muggle gone witch, her story could be interesting.

Meh.
I fell in love with Luna Lovegood some more. First off, I want to change my name to Xenophilius, since my name is in it (Phil [That doesn't mean Stewy isn't my name, I have more than one name, as in one's first another's second, not saying which]). Furthermore, I love her personality even more. At the end, where she was fighting for her life, she just took it as a lesson. Took it so cool.

I<3 Luna. And Molly for being so awesome in the end.
just saying.

Snape is the most interesting, complex, bestest character in the series. I dare anyone to contradict me.

Who here thinks Harry Potter is going to remain with us, maybe become a classic, and who here thinks Harry Potter will die out as this 10 year fad?

I'm undecided on this so far. All I care about is killing off the Inheritance series and Paolini as soon as possible...

Harry Potter pwns Inheritance.

I don't know. It may not become a 'classis', although I suspect it will, but it was be almost legend for how many people it got to read it in this day of computers.

But yeah. I knew Snape was good, but now I find his character is awesome. Maybe the most depth. I mean, he loved Lily, who chose James over him, the one he hated most, but still he loved her, and then he protected her son, who constantly remined him of James. I think he tortured himself a lot for Lily. I feel bad for him. I also like that he yelled at Phineas for saying mudblood.

But yeah, Snape saved Hogwarts n stuff. And the doe.
I agree that he is possibly the bestest.
just saying.

I'm disappointed Luna wasn't mentioned in the epilogue. Looks like Dean had a thing for her at the end, though I still think she and Neville'd be the perfect couple. Speaking of him, I'm very happy that he actually managed to do something useful. He always was my favorite minor character.

Remus, Tonks, and Fred didn't affect me very much, given that it was a chapter before the book ends, anyway. Dobby and Hedwig really made me sad, especially Dobby. As Harry says, Snape is possibly the bravest character in the books. Double crossing Voldemort is one thing, agreeing to kill the greatest wizard of all time for the greater good and knowing you'd be hated internationally for it is another.

Hugo and Rose? Ergh at the names.

Go anti-heroes. Snape is my favorite Harry Potter character, now. I used to hate him so badly in the first few backs, but when J. K. Rowling started giving him depth, he became my favorite.

Agreed. I hated his guts in HBP, but... I gained a huge amount of respect for him in this one.

Does anyone else think the epilogue was rushed? There were way too many characters I didn't know and had no description, so I couldn't see them in my head. I kept picturing Albus Severus Potter as a pint-sized Dumbledore with greasy hair...

Victoire is the daughter of Bill and Fleur. (The french name and being Harry's neice).

Albus Severus looked like Harry. None of the others were given a description, however I don't know where (I reread the epilogue and couldn't find it) but I thought I read that Lily or James had Lily senior's eyes.

Overall I liked the book quite a lot, though I felt that it could have been a few hundred pages longer. I actually liked the epilogue, though would have been nice to get more information on what happened to... well, the countless other characters. >_>

Apparently the epilogue was originally planned to be much longer and give more information, but J.K. Rowling decided to shorten it because the original just didn't work out well as an ending. She says she probably will write an encyclopedia detailing what happens to all of the characters, among other things.

I agree with Book; Snape is awesome and one of my favorite characters in the series. Even though I predicted the whole thing about him being in love with Lily long before the book was released, I still felt really sorry for him during the Prince's Tale chapter.

Also, was anyone else really disappointed with Peter Pettigrew's death? I was expecting it to be... I don't know, maybe relevant to the main plot in some way? >_>

Agreed. It was only a short description of that, so it didn't seem like much. But then, I suppose they probably would've died otherwise.

oh u

Fred and George and Peeves = best characters

I used to think Snape was "meh," but Alan Rickman's portrayal of him in the OoTP movie was awesome, so now I picture him like that in the books, and he is w1n.

Too much shouting and stuffz in this one. Kinda like the 5th where Harry kept blowing up, except it was others doing it in this book, and they had better reasons for it.

I miss Hogwarts as the setting for the majority of the book. That was the main thing I didn't like about this one. All the deaths were good though. There aren't enough series where alot of people die. LotR being a perfect example of this, every single main character survives.

I think HP could easily become a classic. Unique, richly imagined world, intriguing characters, teh plot twists, etc.

It just sucks that it's over.

Albus had Lily's eyes.
Read an interview that Rowling had a few days ago. Luna doesn't marry Neville; she becomes a world-famous naturalist and marries the grandson of Newt Scamander. o_O;

Harry becomes head of the Auror Department. Hermione continues with her half-elf right stuff by joining the Dept for the Control of Magical Creatures or something like that. Ron joins George at the joke shop. Ginny becomes a Quidditch star and joins the Holyhead Harpies. When she gets pregnant, she becomes a writer for the Daily Prophet.

EDIT: Hmm. Just read a conflicting news account of the interview. Most everything is the same, except that Ron joins the Auror Department as well, Luna's marriage is left open, and Ginny isn't even mentioned. Hermione joins the Dept for Control of Magical Creatures, then switches to Magical Law Enforcement.

About Ron, my guess is that he joins Fred and George's joke shop at first, and then leaves to become an Auror later.

She saved Mr. Weasley because he was the only good father presented in the books and felt too attached to him.
She killed Tonks and Lupin because she wanted to parallel what happened to Harry the last time and show that Voldemort's evil was still going full circle.

Lol, I read the first hundred pages from a library book in a hardware store, and then stayed up till 5 then 4 later on to finish it. Definitely the most addicting book in the series... But was I the only one disappointed at the epilogue?

Anyhow, knew Snape was good, but his little bit was interesting. If I were Harry, though, I would have felt slightly weird at the fact that this middle-aged man with no hygiene loved his married mother and all that. But maybe that's just me. >_>

The little heaven segment... It was nice to see Dumbledore again, but I was a bit disappointed that Rowling couldn't stand to stay away from one last explanation from Dumbledore. Meh.

I found it interesting that a few hours after reading the Godric's Hallow bit, the line, "The last enemy to be defeated is death," or something like that, appeared in the second Reading at Mass.

I'm guessing HP won't die out, will become a classic.

Anyhow, though, did you guys hear that Rowling is starting a new series? I had a feeling she would, but as it turns out...

It's a detective novel.

Ugh. Very disappointing to me, since detective novels are just... Meh. They could be interesting the first time around, but... They're usually all suspense with no special characters and an annoying ending. She could pull it off, I suppose, but I'm still rather annoyed.

I thought it would be interesting if she wrote another series about Draco's kid, though. Scorpius, though... Lol. >_> At the same time, I do appreciate that she's staying away from the world, since I could see it just not working if she tried to do another full-blown series in it and expand too much.
