How do you people make sprites. The only thing I've ever been able to do is take two sprites, put the hair of one, on the face of another, and recolor. How do you people make you're own sprites, because I'm sure my method is not what everyone else does. |

Take the hair, eyes, mouth, and clothing from multiple people. Put them together. Recolor. Like your but on a wider scale. |

Personally, what I do is to find hair, clothes and a face that fit the character I'm planning to make, and then copy and paste them together in Photoshop. Sometimes I recolor or edit the sprite a little, depending on what I'm making or if it needs to be cleaned up, but I'm horrible when it comes to doing things from scratch. |

Paint IS the best program for spriting. You only need Photoshop/GIMP/Paint Shop Pro for making special effects for battle scenes and animations. If you want to do full customs check: http://www.feplanet.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=15619 http://www.feplanet.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2037 |

Trust me, if you have the version of paint that's on my computer, that's not nearly enough. It doesn't support any form of transparency, which makes copying and pasting extremely difficult. >_> |

Recoloring with the Eraser Method This is a quick way to manually recolor an image. If you want the entire image recolored, and the image is very large, it is preferable to use the "Fenrir" method. 1. Left click eyedropper on the color you want replaced. 2. Right click eyedropper on the color you want to replace with. 3. Use the Eraser tool and right click and drag over the part of the image you want to recolor. 4. Repeat for any other color. Recoloring with the "Fenrir" Method This is a very quick way to recolor an entire image. Its name comes from the first FESSer to have extensively used this method on a regular basis. 1. Right click eyedropper on the color you want replaced. 2. Left click eyedropper on the color you want to replace with. 3. Ctrl+A (select all). 4. Ctrl+X (cut). 5. Left click on the image with Fill tool. 6. Ctrl+V (paste). 7. Uncheckmark "Image > Draw opaque". 8. Repeat for any other color. |
