Uh...Whats goin on?

((Well, Rhia and friends ran like all fuck, and took shelter in a church. And then Rhia was all "/wrists" an Kaeris was like "lol no in my day we had to five miles in the snow to get to school, uphill both ways." Meanwhile, Falo helped Shu in the production of illicit drugs and tried to break Senna's vow of celrety. And Rhia was like "/wrists again" an Kearis was all "BITCHSLAP" and Rhia was all ";_;" and then your character was all "im in ur base, crushin ur womens" and I realised you'd alread read this and that I didn't need to type this. But your character was all "lol im a fatass" and Kaeris was all "need...air..." and passed out. Then Tarnan was all like "/wrists" because he got screwed over, and a bandit came over and was all "moar liek /spleen" and shot Tarnan up, then got deaded. So Tarna came to the church and was all "i r have dead and can't see, can ah b healed" and Falo went "klol" and gave him a potion, which was then given to Kareis. So Tarna was all "Oh, hey, I tried to kill you guys" and Rhia was all "OSHI-" and ran. And Kaeris went after her, and here we are. Oh, and Solid's guy came in and was all thinkin "IMMA CHARGIN MAH CANNONS" at some point in there.

Clear enough?))
Now's my chances!

Quote:

Common, but incorrect.

"Incorrect" as defined by high school English, perhaps, and technical writing standards, but in general freeform writing (I include RP'ing in this generalization despite my belief that it is not entirely freeform), vernacular is the accepted method of thought and speech for the 1st-person perspective. I should probably say "In RP'ing especially," since RP'ing is 90% about how well you can assimilate the persona of your character.

So no, I disagree that it's incorrect. Accents, dialects, and "slang" terminology can be used so long as they accomodate the speaker well. For example, Coel, who has a strong Scottish accent, would do his narration entirely in the Scottish dialect of English. Ebrey, who is an African, will, likewise, always do his narrations in his dialect. 1st-person narrations are special because they are similar to one character "recounting" the events to another.

~Falo~

"Erm . . . " Shaking the now empty vial of healing solution, Falo sighed in slight annoyance. The stuff was not supposed to be consumed. One drip on a wound. That was all that was required. Did they even know how much this stuff cost at an apothecary's? Not like these things were the staple of every foolish adventurer out saving lost kitties, no sir. Thankfully, he had pocketed several of the rare, Deksin-crafted pieces, which would go for a good price at a second-hand shop.

"So, soldier . . . The rebellion appears to be quite good at maintaining order, I see, what with firing their own soldiers. Literally."

A thief, a rebel soldier, a shady looking man with his nose off-center, a werebeast and someone she couldn't even begin to describe. They didn't exactly look like the noble valient retainers she was hoping for. But then she hadn't exactly woken up this morning wishing "gee, I hope rebels take over the country and overthrow the king, kill him, and try to knock off the rest of the royale family while they're at it" either.

Of course, she knew people changed. Oh Lea, how she knew...

Brushing thoughts of her past aside, she approached Falo "please tell me we haven't already managed to mislay the princess" she whispered as softly but as sharply as she could. The result came out sounding unintentionally like a snake hiss. Oh Goddess, did she really have to sound like that?

~Falo~

"What? Well . . . Sort of." He scratched the back of his head and laughed awkwardly. "When we saw our pursuer come in the door, Rhia ran for it, but it looks like he's given up on trying to kill us." Wow. That didn't sound very convincing. "Don't worry; the Laguz girl is tracking her do -- " Wait, no, that wasn't any better; she was the one that had just slapped the princess for crying . . .

"Well. The situation's under control."

(OOC: she overheard Falo insist to Shu that he was not a "thief boy" and their whole exchange rather gave it away, even to Senna's unperceptive eyes.)

She was genuinly shocked. "So if I have this correctly, the princess of Xenzin, is running lose outside somewhere...while the rest of you sit around chatting?" Oh Goddess. She should never have let the Princess out of her sight. She was finally given a chance to atone, to do something truly good, and she'd failed completely within the first few hours. Placing both hands together and closing her eyes, she willed the pure magic to come to her. She reached out among the silken threads of the lives surrounding her and found Rhia's. It was strong and untarnished, not even wittled away in some places as it would be if the princess had sustained pain and injury. She felt another thread, a hairy thread, approaching it.

Her eyes snapped open and she sighed in relief. "Allright, she's alive and healthy for now. And I think the laguz girl has caught up with her. They didn't go far."

Immediate danger aside she set about thinking how they could possibly get the princess, past all the rebels and out of Xenzin in one piece.

Kaeris knelt down on the ground, assuming a meditating position.

"Meditation had many purposes. One of the minor ones was to relax muscles before a fight. Go over strategies. Something you'd expect barbarians to do." Kaeris said. "But more importantly, he said, it gave us time to think about our lives. We're so caught up in this whirl of life that we barely have time to think. About who we've fought, where we've been, the people we've befriended, or made enemies. About the people we've killed or... the people close to us that have been killed."

"He was a very realistic, and yet down-to-earth teacher. He was stoic and brave, and yet had a sympathetic side to him. He never once failed to meet his duties, but then again found time for the people around him that mattered. The only thing people could see a fault was, that he never married anyone. He's been around for more than 500 years; some say he was one of the ancient heroes from the time when Lea was a real person on earth." Kaeris added.

"Whatever. We should get back to the others. They're probably worrying.

Rhia nodded. Her teacher was an exceptional one...smarter than all the clergy members I've met, even. He is very wise, especially for a laguz...and those myths again, about Lea once being a mortal. Maybe they're true after all... "Is he still around?" Rhia asked.

"Yeah. But I'm going to ensure that he won't be." Kaeris said. "I've told you too much. No one deserves to know this much about me, not even him."

Before the princess could open her mouth again, Kaeris turned.

"Before you even think about asking any more questions, don't. Otherwise you'll feel another palm to your face."

She brought her hand up to hit, but knew that the girl must have been planning something. She was naive, and ignorant; not stupid. Not knowing what to expect, Kaeris smirked, and instead bent over and quickly lifted the princess over her shoulder.

"Nice try." Kaeris said, before walking back to the others.

Rhia exhaled the breath. She could have attacked her with a bolt of light magic there to provoke Kaeris, but she was now a refugee, not a savage. Who was this teacher, though? The question lingered in her mind, refusing to go away as she returned to the group.

Shu

"Ah! Finshed!" Oops, that was louder than Shu would have liked, but his stock of odd weapons was pretty much replenished. Perchance he'd be able to sleep well, now. He always felt wrong going to bed if he was low on weapons. A lot had occured in a small amount of time, it was actually kind of exciting, Shu hadn't had a good adventure in a while.

On the other hand, he could probably be part of a better, less archtypal, crowd. Oh well, maybe he could do something about that, but not yet. The princess was alone with that wolf-ish girl. Shu probably should check on them.

Nah, he'd just go find a nice spot to sleep outside. He really should check on those rabbit-hides, anyways, maybe catch a few more.

"Town." Falo agreed. "I think both Sir Shu and I will need to be restocking on some supplies, he with his herbs and myself with my tools. These isolated churches are fine for attracting random party members, but we'll be able to get more use of a town's facilities."

Every major church n the country that wasn't conveniently abandoned would be under seige right now, this was an uprising against the religious leadership after all. Senna didn't want to think what some of the church of Lea's spiritual leaders had done to incite the masses, but she'd heard the rumors...and preferred not to think about them.

Yes, a town would definately be the best choice. But all this walking would slow them down. And tire them before battle. "In the next town, shall we buy some horses then?"

OOC: I just think a horse chase would be fun later.

"It depends. Do normal folk keep track of who uses horses from the stables as they do in the capital?" Rhia asked. "Horses are always hard to come by, and so people makes sure they never get stolen...wyverns and pegasi are more common but too expensive, after all."

Senna stared at Rhia for a moment. Opened her mouth, and then thought better of it. Did they even have the funds for horses? She doubted it. And then Senna surprised herself.

"Well...seeing as how saving the princess is such a noble cause...we could steal them." Surely Lea would condone such a small indiscretion if it helped restore the crown and the church.

"Just keep telling yourself that" muttered a little voice in her head You're slipping back

((Is it morning? If not, just ignore the morning-indicating oparts of this post. <_<))

"Hey, wait up for a moment. You're seriously just going to walk into a town and hope no one sees you? The commeners just might think you're a normal woman with very regal bearings, but the rebels didn't just give up searching for you the second you were outside of the capital. And the commotion you'll stir up by stealing horses is going to attract the attention of a lot of guards. If you're going to go by horseback, I really hope you can move fast." Tarnan said, already in armor. "Of course, you may not really care for my advice, seeing as our history isn't exactly friendly, but at this point, I bear you no ill will."

"Luckily for you saps, there's an arena in the town. Just as Keldia wished for. I could easily go win us some money."

I entered slowly, realizing that my eyes were still red. It couldn't be helped, however, and I knew that the redness would pass in a couple of hours at best. "Ohayu," I whispered, but then I quickly caught myself and said, "good morning." I hoped no one would notice my eyes, but, as I said, it couldn't really be helped.

"To town? You are leaving this place?" I questioned, my eyebrows wrinkling slightly.

I weighed my options. If they were leaving, it would probably be best to go with them. After all, I didn't want to have to stay on my own until at least a few days later. And if they weren't leaving...well, in that case, I would need to leave. Staying in one place for too long wasn't preferrable, either.
