~Falo~ "I'm fine. I have a hard head from years of falling over things. It's my dad's fault, really, for giving me monstrously huge feet. Thank you, though." He did seem rather resigned to his clumsiness as he immediately leapt back to his feet. To show that he was fine and all. It would have gone off better had his pupils not been spinning around in his head, though. |

Senna suddenly understood why Falo had keeled over. This floor was very uneven, when you thought about. It was swaying too, like a boat rocking. Dreadfully hard to stay on your feet. Her hand rapped around the stair rail behind her. "Ah, you don't say, fancy that" her voice seemed to be coming from someone else. To think that she'd just spoken to her highness like a straying child. It was unthinkable. Kneeling before the Princess she spoke, her voice slightly shaking. "Forgive me." |

"You are forgiven in this House of Lea, but beware, you are falsely treating me like a goddess. I am of a royal bloodline, yes, but the only divine being deserving worship is Lea," Rhia reminded her. "Do you know of a place in here we may find a meal?" |

"As a princess you should still be treated with respect" said Senna gently. To which her humble traveler's food would look like very poor fair indeed. But there was no help for that. "I wasn't planning for such a large group, but Lea willing there will be enough." She busied herself in the next few minutes starting a fire. After such an ordeal, the could all use some hot food. And work was good, it gave her time to collect her unsettled thoughts. |

~Falo~ And I was doing so well convincing her that she needed to act more common, too . . . Speaking of which, he ought to have a word with Senna about that. On the pretense of examining the fire, he knelt down beside her and murmured softly into her ear. "Sister Senna . . . The princess is quite right. Treat her well, but not excessively. If we are to escape, we must attract as little notice as possible. Few in the outlying lands will know the princess's face by sight, but they will give us unwanted attention if Princess Rhia is not treated like a commoner." |

-Senna- Falo's words made sense, but grated against everything the young woman had been raised to believe in. As she coaxed the tiny flames into life, she whispered softly back "In public this is wise, and I will gladly aquiesce. Yet, here, where we are alone I will expect the princess to be treated with the proper courtesy that befits her title." She glanced back at the princess and sadly shook her head. "Her title is all that's left of her rulership now anyway. And any power it gives should not be taken from her now." She began neatly chopping some vegatables she'd found struggling for life in the overgrown garden outside. "Know anything about making a good stew?" |

~Falo~ "Stew I can manage. If you want some meat, I have some here." He took out a sad, limp looking pouch from one of the pockets sewed within the inside of the vest and tugged it open to reveal several chunks of deep-frozen chicken. "I dripped some of my instant freezing potion onto it. It's not toxic." Bending over again, he murmured, "I understand, but . . . we must hope the princess understands the subterfuge that must be played, or else she may except this behavior, even in public." |

-Senna- Suit yourself, thougt Senna, ashamed that they didn't have anything better to offer the princess. They weren't likely to get anything better either. Hopefully they could coax her to eat soon. She smiled warmly at Falo, "that will add plenty of flavor." She peered at the princess out of the corner of her eye, she was watching them intently. "20 years of expecting it can't be erased in a few days anyways. But let's not argue further. I believe Princess Rhia has very sharp ears." |

Shu A mediocre haul at best, he came back to the chapel-like building with almost enought to make maybe 5 smoke bombs, and found some Pinanta leaf, which he could use to paralyze someone if he could grind it and find some Retlick weeds to mix with it. Shu would have made a great herbologist, or even a chemist of some variety, but he knew there wasn't any path to glory and riches that way. Well, here he was, jester to a defunct king, oh well, such is life. He headed back to the chapel-like building, and looked at it for a while before entering. It really did command respect, even in it's run-down state. It also seemed bigger up close, like the cathedral by the castle, but that was impossible. He walked in, looking around, well, things were still calm here. It was hard to believe there weren't any soldiers outside, considering the amount that that man was controlling, but it was probably best not to bring up plotholes, so Shu just went in and found the little thief, who was talking with that nun...cleric...whatever. He tapped the thief boy on the shoulder. "Hi, I'm Shu, you seem to have some nice gadgets and potions and the like, you got some Retlick root, and an ingredient compresser on you?" |

Kaeris She'd walked out of the building once they'd started talking about food; though it wasn't like she was part of the group anyway. Why was she here? Could the princess really do something about the laguz? Kaeris spat at the ground, cursing as pain shivered through her body. That raven had been tough; and she'd bitten off more than she could have chewed. She sat down on the steps outside, and listened to the place around her. "... Mua-" She started to think, until movement to her left reverted her eyes to look at a few rabbits that hopped out, ignorant of her placing. Licking her lips, Kaeris transformed. It hurt to run too fast; but she judged she could still catch a few rabbits; and she wasn't much of a stew fan, anyway. |

~Falo~ He gave the jester a quick, suspicious glance before deciding he was relatively harmless. As a matter of personal pride (everybody in his town had been tree huggers), he was quite set against herbology, but he did know a bit about various poisonous plants and such. For his compounds and his gadgets, of course. "Retlick weeds . . . ? You want some more smoke balls, then? I don't keep them around since they tend to be less potent as they dry. Sorry. I have some Drosera, though -- their venom is strong enough to paralyze, almost as good as the Retlick weed." He shrugged, not really very sure how Shu made his smoke balls. "And I should have a compressor somew -- Ah, here." He had stuffed it in the pouch of his tool-belt like contraption. "Oh, yeah. And I'm Falo. Not 'little boy' or 'thief guy', thanks." |

Shu "Sure thing, young'n. Thanks, by the way, I can probably make some good smoke bombs with this. Just have to be careful to get the amounts right, so as to keep everyone breathing when it's wearing off." Shu took the Drosera and the compressor and gotup. "Well, unless they really piss me off, better make two." Shu went over to the fire to heat the Pinanta leaf so he could extract the oils it secreted. Beautiful thing, really, it giving it's life juice to help Shu out later. |

Rhia took a quick glance towards the stew before turning back, ignoring her stomach. Maybe when we get to an inn...wait, I don't have any gold pieces on me, only coppers to remain inconspicuous...anything valuable...no, nothing that will keep my identity secret. She gave another hesitating look at the stew. |

Shu With a little compression and some heat, Shu enclosed the Pinanta leaf and the Drosera in the pruple ball, seperately, of course. Shu walked back and took a look at the stew, he had caught a few rabbits outside, and he had lain a few traps aside from that, quick, throwtogether stuff, really. But the rabbits were still hanging from high up a tree, the blood would probably be somewhat lessened now, though, so he'd probably go and get them soon. This was all trivial, anyways, he still didn't have a real plan on how to get the princess out of this country. |

As I was walking along, having reached the edge of the forest a while ago, I discovered in my path a rather curious sight; there was this monster, huge by comparison to a normal human (or, perhaps my immediate definition of it *as* monstrous warped my perception of its size), running around in circles after what appeared to be rabbits. My finger itched, and I quickly stuffed my hand in my jacket pocket in anticipation of what was coming. A cold bead of sweat formed upon my temple...and then another, and yet another. My finger was still itching, and my legs were starting to shake a little. My knees bent of their own accord. All at once, at neither discretion nor control from me, my hand removed itself from my pocket and surged towards the folds of my coat. Cold metal. I looked around. There was a odd, steepled building not far from where I was standing. My eyes drifted languidly to the top, yet my body shivered with desire. It was a church, I surmised that much. Beyond that, I had difficulty in discovering what denomination it was or what other purposes it served. My hand stroked the metal stoicly. One glaring realization suddenly came to the fore and stood in my path: the fact that there would undoubtedly be inhabitants inside this church. Suppressing my urges however minimally I could manage, I observed the animal for a few moments and at length resolved. ...I couldn't do it. I couldn't kill a creature such as this. It was too....human. I had heard of such beasts before. They were savage, obviously, but killing it there would lead to unknown repurcussions, unwanted attentions. No, much better to avoid it, to just leave it alone, to pretend as though it had never existed, despite how much more savory--how much better!--it would be were that pretense the reality! But in the end I decided--I must leave it. And yet, that itch would never leave me. Not until that foul anomaly, sick lovechild of man and beast, was out of sight. The Magitech Cannon stuffed inside my jacket begin to move--I could feel it trembling in my very soul. It would be easy, too. The foolish brute would never even expect it. Just one... I shook my head. I needed to get out of there, before my mind lost control over my body. Most of all, I needed to leave it before it saw me, or else there would be talk, and bad things always happened to me when there was such talk. Trepidating ferociously, I launched myself forward and moved rapidly away from the creature. My vision was blurring--suddenly I began to see fur, a lot of fur. I couldn't think straight; it seemed as though my brain were condensing. With one last pulse of energy, I thrust forward straight towards the church and burst inside, just barely having moved my hand to open the door so that I wouldn't crash through. I could feel the color seeping out of my face, a cold, death-white palor remaining in its lieu. |

Kaeris "Excuse me." Kaeris said, licking her lips, as she placed her hand on the newcomer. She'd seen him while chasing after the rabbits, but when he moved past her as she devoured her prey, she transformed back, wondering if he was going after the princess. "Just who do you think you are barging in here? You'd better have a good reason to have watched me for a while before deciding to go past me." |

I was startled by the sudden feel of what was undoubtedly flesh upon my shoulder, but I quickly managed to gather my composure and wheeled to face whoever it was. It was only after I laid eyes upon her that I recalled what she had said. She was the same beast from outside. I hadn't had any time to take a look around my new environment, but that was unnecessary; what did I care where I was? So long as that wretched abomination was in the same room, it did not matter. My finger itched again, and I shoved it back into my pocket as rapidly as I could. The question arose at once to me: how had she noticed me? I was clearly at a distance far enough away that she could not possibly have deciphered me from her surroundings. My senses, as heightened as they are due to my...condition...could not have made her out had I been but a few paces farther. I quickly surmised that it must have been her nature, that of a mongrel half-human, that had allowed her to take sight of me. Yes, I decided that that was the only plausible solution. It did nothing to ease me of my worry, however, but it at least dissoluted the perplexity of my situation. The fact that I had been seen remained a concern, yet the reason was now made plain. One would think that my urges would have been at least slightly dissipated at the transformation of the beast into proper form--but no, it was not so. If anything, the change heightened the hatred that pulsed in my veins for her. I tried my best not to show it, contorting my face as much as I was able into a semi-pleasant countenance. However, this failed me at once, and the best I could manage was a face of indifference, covered with the smallest of smiles barely distinguishable from the the wrinkles of the skin. It was enough, however, for I judged that as she knew nothing of my person or character, she would simply assume that this was my normal appearance, my normal disposition. She may be disraught by my coldness, but she wouldn't suspect my hatred for her. No, though...I needed to be at least somewhat genial, so as to cement my sincerity and offset any lingering suspicions. Thus I said: "Pardon me, madam, but I have travelled long to reach these lands, and it has been a trying day for me. I am in dire need of rest, and seeing as this church appeared the perfect means by which to facilitate my needs, the thought drew across me to soujourn here. As to why I was perhaps extending my gaze towards your general direction, I can only say that I have never seen one such as you before, and being a man of great curiosity, I could not help but admire the elegance with which you manage to hunt; it is amazing how you are able to transition from one form to another and yet retain complete control of your abilities. My apologies if my indiscretion has caused you grievance." I bowed slightly. I figured this would suffice. There was no way she could discern my hatred, but the indiffernece of my countenance did not yet wear thin, so I judged that I would strike her as being exceedingly tired, yet nothing more. Through my time spent in The Cage, I had learned quite a bit about Avilas, and quite a bit about its spoken language. I had never learned the language growing up, yet I could speak as well as royalty were it required of me. I read ravenously while in The Cage--not books, mind, but thoughts. My own. I read my thoughts, and morph them into spoken languages that I hear from those around me. |

Kaeris Bemused, Kaeris smiled back at him. "You think me a fool, do you? I know how we're... no... how I am hated out here. Because of my blood, my abilities, my nature. And yet..." She thought. "Ah, rest is it?" She replied. "Very well, I'm sure the pr... er... Rhia could easily suffice to offer you food." Kaeris said, as she bowed back, showing the same sort of half-attempt at being nice to the opposite party. "Just as long as you don't cause trouble, then I won't have to resolve anything." She noted, winking. "And, I only noticed you watching me because I smelt you. Coyote laguz. Nose of a dog, y'know?" She added, trying to say some sort of small talk as she led the man to Rhia. |

Rhia sat in the garden, meditating. It was her preferred form of honoring the church. Her teachers had always said pray, yet...meditation was also good for the soul. But praying, it was speaking, speaking to Lea. But we need to develop our own souls, not Lea's, so shouldn't we listen? Meditation...it allowed you to listen to Lea and all of Avilas. Religion. The only thing she was good at. She had been hopeless in politics, especially. Yet the priests would proudly say she was one of the most faithful and wise under Lea since the beginning of the bloodline. Yet her other teachers would never brag about teaching the Royal Princess. Too stupid for their tastes... But did they not see that their subjects, the history, the future, technology, these things were nothing compared to studying, learning, and feeling the wonders of Lea's universe? She heard footsteps. Turning around, she saw that beast, Kaeris, with someone else. "Who is this?" |

~Falo~ " . . . Umm . . . Oh, forget it." Leaving Shu to play with his heat compressor, Falo meandered back towards the stew, which actually carried a faintly pleasant aroma now. "Wow. Sister Senna, I didn't actually think you could manage anything palatable -- You must be used to making do with these sorts of things." Hmm. That compliment didn't come out as well as he had intended it to. |

Kaeris She patted the man on the shoulder for a second, and bent down to whisper to Rhia. "What, not your usual steak and vegetables, young princess? We're on the run, so you're not going to get much more appetizing than what they've made. If I were you, I'd show my appreciation for the fact that I'm not being made to cook for myself, and at least eat some." She whispered. She stood up, and smirked. "And you're really bad at lying. Next thing you know, someone will ask who you are and we're going to be in a crisis because you can't lie about it." Kaeris said. She turned back to the man, and led him to the church. She could smell the stew, and instinctively followed the smell to the stew. |

Or even worse, some sort of body fluid. |

OOC:
Er...mind reading? -- My eyes connected with hers but for a brief instance, and that was enough. I become cognizant of the fact that she recognized my hatred for her; try as I might, I could not hide it, and try as she might, she could not hide her awareness of it either. I capitulated in my attempt to prove cordial to her, and sufficed it that there would be others, and my impression on them would be significantly different, and that one bad acquaintance would not necessarily mean several more. Not that my feelings would be much different, mind. I didn't care to meet whoever else might be in this church. But now that I was here in this blasted place, I had no option but to follow through with my words and accept the invitation to meet this 'Rhia'. Well, at least it was better than wandering around out there. Someone might have spotted me, and that would lead to trouble with The Coats. I certainly didn't fancy seeing The Cage again so soon. My ears perked at the sound of the beast whispering. Once again, my acute senses aided me immensely. A princess, was that it? Well, that explained a lot. Since they were on the run, at least they wouldn't take much time to think about me. A safe resort. The information in particular might come in handy...later. I thanked them for their hospitality and went over to eye the stew at the word 'Cockroaches'. "Er...is this what you are eating?" I asked, trying to be as polite as possible but failing miserably. |

Keldia She walked into where all the food was cooking, she was still humming the song when she sat herself down on the ground. She wasn't hungry, but she'd eat if it smelt good enough. |

@ Solide: er, what? >_> -- Kaeris "Er, he was joking." Kaeris said, to the stranger. She passed him his bowl. "You saw already, I've already eaten. I'm not that hungry anymore." She added. She beckoned him to sit down beside her, and looked at him again. "Just what's your name, anyway?" |

~Falo~ " . . . Is it wise to be inviting random strangers to partake of this meal with the . . . umm . . . " He cleared his throat and coughed inconspicuously while spitting out the word "incess-pay". |

Rhia She had enough of it. Her stomach was growling, her head was sick, she couldn't concentrate on anything, she couldn't meditate in peace, to satisfy her body and shut her stomach up, she would eat anything, even that cockroach stew! Rhia jumped up, running into the church. "I can't meditate in peace, even, with my stomach! I'd like some stew now." |

OOC: much ado about stew >_> -Senna- To her mind they were all strangers. She'd raised an eyebrow at Falo's "compliment" but in the rest to get everyone served and fed, she didn't get a chance to reply. Sidling up to the princess she smiled. "I thought you'd come around. And a good thing too, since that's the last of the food supplies I have. Eat all of it, I've no idea where are next meal is coming from....Rhia." It felt strange calling her that. She was used to going without food for a while, but the princess certainly wouldn't be. |

I was referring to the fact that Kaeris knew that Memio was thinking, "How could she have possibly seen me?" Or it appeared that way, anyway. Never mind, at any rate. No sense in overdiscussing things. -- "My name?" I asked. I puzzled a moment and then answered, "Lyorr. And...err...I am not quite hungry, thank you." I did not want to appear rude, and it wasn't that the stew was bad, but...well, I just wasn't going to eat it, simple as that. Another man had appeared to make some rather direct remark concerning me, and I nearly laughed out loud at his indiscretion. "I hope I am not troubling you," I said courteously. |

Kaeris "It should be okay. He had a chance to strike at me before, and I'm in no state to defend myself; but he didn't. I believe he doesn't harbor anything against us. He just wanted some genuine rest." Kaeris said. "Not minding the fact that he hates my existence." She thought. "I can't meditate in peace, even, with my stomach! I'd like some stew now." Rhia said, bursting in. Kaeris sighed, and stood. She walked by Rhia, and muttered in the princess' ear again. "Oh good. Cause, you know, I was just here trying to convince them to make you a full fledged meal. Nice to see you're changing from snooty-brat to a young, defenseless girl." She muttered, before leaving. |

Tarnan was seriously about to emo out. He was a commander for hire, damnit, not a tracker! And, of course, his price had been so ridiculous at the start that he'd probably been hired as a god. Actually, it was more likely that they were hoping he'd get lost, or mauled by bears, ro something. But laments aside, he was in the here and now, walking down a worn path, hoping he'd find somehwere to rest. His men had been reassigned to other watches for the night, where they would fight, and now he had nothing but two men in scraggly cameoflauge who had refused to sleep on the ground. "Thank Lea, it's a church!" yelled one of them, jerking Tarnan from his thoughts, and making him realise that there was...nothing. "The hell are you on about?" he asked the "soldier." "There! The sign!" Upon closer inspection, there was a sign that indicated that a church, and the town around it, ahead. "We can be there in a matter of minutes!" The soldier cried with glee, and he rushed ahead. "No! Idiot..." Tarnan sighed. Yeah, he was definately out here to get killed, because an arrow pierced the man's neck. "Heh heh...looks like I'm in luck. I get out of prision if I kill you and make sure you don't spill anything important for more gold, sellsword," the ugly man who stepped out of the forest cackled. "Heh. You soldier, attack...damn." The soldier who was still breathing was running quite fast in the opposite direction. "So, I've been fired, I assume? My reputation has been soiled...my only source of work gone...no, no, I can still bring back the princess. Yeah...yeah." A smile crept across Tarnan's face. "You're about to be liberated from your prision sentence, friend. You'll be skipping right to the final judgement. Graaaaaah!" Hardly heeding the arrows that had slipped through his armor while he had muttered his mini-monolouge, Tarnan charged the marksman, rending flesh from bone. "The princess...oh, I'll get her. I'll get her." The stress of his job having clearly affected him, Tarnan limped on, heading towards the church, and rest. ((Don't worry, he's not entirely insane. Just don't bother him before he gets and rest...)) |

Rhia glared at Kaeris's direction before eating the soup. At the first taste, she could taste the simpleness, the poorness in it. Always eat the food of the Royal Chefs... That's what her father always said. That is the only thing fitting of us royalty who lead Avilas in holiness...nothing else is good for us. She was no longer a princess, she was a commoner. She had nothing; her title no longer mattered, even. All was gone, even status in the church, with the rebels victorious. And now, eating peasants' food. Her father would be ashamed, if he saw her...now nothing. She cried. |
