Todella mielenkiintoinen haastattelu. :yea: |

Mmmhhh... en ole ihan varma mitä ajatella Kojiman Halo kommentista. Olisiko mies ottanut uutta näkökulmaa FPS peleihin? En todellakaan osaa sanoa mitä ajatella moisesta letkauksesta... Terv, Caldera |

Tässäkin kuitenkin väläytellään MGS saagan mahdollista jatkumista (tai ACID tyylisten toisten ulottovuuksien käyttämistä), jolloin joku muu kuin Snake olisi pääosassa..Valitettavasti ilman Snakea ei ole Metal Gearia joten jätän sarjan tarinan tähän jos vieläkin tarina jatkuu.. |

Hideo Kojiman haastattelu OPSM-lehdestä: ____________________________________________________________________ OPS2: So how is MGS4 progressing? HK: The progress is quite good. A lot of the experiments that we're doing in the game are going on, and the team have been in military training. That's routine - every time a Metal Gear game comes out they do military training. They've done that five times since the Tokyo Game Show and also they've been starting to travel around, not to do normal vacation sightseeing, but sightseeings for the game. OPS2: This is the first Metal Gear on a next-gen system. What will that increase of power enable you to do? HK: I've been asked that question many times and I'm still working on it. To be frank, I still haven't got to the point where I can really feel, 'this is next-gen'. Of course, with PS3, we're going to try to bring out a 'wow'-type Metal Gear in terms of sound, and graphics because it's on next-gen, but my key is that since it's next-gen I want Metal Gear to be almost re-born because of the new hardware. OPS2:What might that involve? HK: Well, Metal Gear Solid 4 will be set on a battlefield so it will be totally different from the past Metal Gears. And also, giving you hints about the story plot, MGS4 will be almost like a wrap - the true ending of the Metal Gear Solid series that started on the MSX. Including all the titles, in total this will be the sixth one. During the 20 years there have been some odd points in the storyline, so what I'm trying to do in the plot I'm building right now is to fill in those odd points. It'ss be more natural, so MGS4 will be like the true ending. The last in the series. OPS2: Is this the last Metal Gear? HK: I'm not saying that Metal Gear will end with this one but maybe if there's going to be another one it might be a diferent main character or a totally different setting. That kind of thinking. OPS2: Is that why you made subsistence - to refresh people's minds on the more obscure plot points? HK: Yes, that's exactly right. But I regret I did that because now I have a lot more work to do. For instance, I'd forgotten what I'd written in the script in the past - Snake said this at this moment, that kind of thing. So the team had to go back to all the scenarios and the game guide books and check what he or she actually said or did. It made the work much more difficult. OPS2 Can you give us some specifics on MGS4's story? HK: I can only say that it's a continuous of Metal Gear Solid 2. OPS2: So is the theme quite anti-war? Do you think it's important for game to tackle that kind of subject matter? HK: Basically, yes. All the past Metal Gear Solid series were anti-war/anti-nuclear, however, for MGS4 I am creating a plot that will go a little bit further - what will happen to the world in 20 years' time? OPS2: Can we still expect to see the trademark cut-scenes? HK: Well, are you looking forward to that? Because I heard that many people are...[laughs] OPS2: Some people believe you should be playing rather than watching. Others enjoy it though... HK: What I'm trying to do right now is to implement a way that when you're playing the game I'll try not to distract you so much. When the story gets really complex, the yes, maybe there is a need for an element to explain the story. In the past you were sent to one location, or there was a mission where you had to do something in 24 hours or within onw week. As MGS4's story goes, the main the main character travels around the world, so if you could imagine 007 or Indiana Jones where the main character travels around the world, it's going to be like this in the story. So there's a chance that we could put in the story-telling part when the character moves from one part of the world to another nation. Howver, when you're in the battlefield I'm not thinking of disturbing you or the gameplay. The gameplay will be the most solid thing. OPS2:Can you say how many different locations there will be in MGS4? HK: Not yet. When you first start the game you'll probably fell, 'oh, this is a Metal Gear game.' However, because of the change of locations, countried or battlefields, you'll fell right away that it's new. You'll get a totally new Metal Gear Solid feeling and sensation. OPS2: Is that tied into the decision to make Snake an old man? Is that because you wanted to surprise players? HK: I don't want to make the game slow or the character react badly because he's older - I won't do that. Basically if you could just understand we wanted to have an old Snake, and that is part of the story. But it's only part of the story. It will not affect the gameplay. 'If you get older, you'll get slower' - that kind of thing will not be in the game. OPS2: Do you have a bit of love/hate relationship with Metal Gear? Don't you think 'I just want to do something new'? HK: There are frustrations. I really want Metal gear Solid to be worked on by my staff or by other staff so I can work on other new projects. But I'm not always able to do that. I have to be there to create Metal Gear at the same time so, as you said, I do have a love/hate relationship with the franchise. OPS2:Is there any word on the Metal Gear film? Who's your preferred Snake? HK: Yes, the whole thing is moving forward. It's going to be a Hollywood film. It's won't be a German director. Not that German director [Uwe Boll]. That's all I can say about the movie right now. Who was the guy that appeared in Lord of the rings? You know, the cool guy? OPS2: Viggo Mortensen? HK:I think he would make a perfect Snake right now but maybe he's a little too old? I'm thinking of many actors. OPS2: Have you got many plans for online MGS4? Is subsistence a template? HK: If you look at subsistence - that was the most obvious was to do an online MGS. It was a basic rule - that everyone could already play. So if you consider that part will be the core of MGS4, you're right. However, we're going to do something much more different around that core as well, to help players enjoy MGS4 - there will be more user communication, a community. OPS2:Have you got PSP plans for MGS4? A link-up or sharing of data? HK: Yes, I'm thinking of doing that right now. OPS2: Can you tell us any more about Snake's robot buddy in the MGS4 trailer at E3 last year? HK: I can't say anything officially but I want that robot to take a big role in the game but there are so many barriers right now. OPS2: What makes it difficult then? HK: Well, the hint is that if the robot is just a support to Snake or you as a player it's quite easy, but I expect everyone is wanting to control it, and in that sense it's quite difficult now. OPS2:In the whole of the Metal Gear series, who's your favourite boss? HK: The End was my favourite boss character because the basic concept we had was that we wanted the battle to last for one week - it was a totally different concept. OPS2: Are there any specific new gadgets in MGS4 you can tell us about? HK: In MGS3, the new thing was the camouflage system. The hint is that we're going to go a little bit further in MGS4. OPS2: Does that relate to the 'no place to hide' tagline? HK: Actually no. That had more of a meaning that on the battlefield you won't know which side you'll be on - the good guys today could be the bad the next. OPS2: You said the team have been doing military training - What's the focus been this time around? HK: This time the trainging was more about really being yourself in the battlefield. To give you an example, you have to close your eyes and go through a maze, or you're in a room just listening to sounds of the forest. It seems like crazy training but it leads to the basic mentality if you being alone or going on a stealth mission. OPS2: So when will MGS4 be ready? HK: This is not a promise, but I really want to aim for a close release between territories - US, Japan and Europe. The reason I feel This is because with the PS3, Sony's committed to coming out in all territories at the same time. I want to do the same with MGS4. ____________________________________________________________________ Täytyy sanoa että oli mielenkiintoinen haastattelu! Kojima siis tosiaan tähtää maailmanlaajuiseen julkaisuus ja pelin tunnelma tulee muuttumaan täysin... No, odotellaan lisää tietoa. |

Vähän myöhässä tämäkin, mutta tämä herätti mielenkiintoni. OPS2: Is this the last Metal Gear?
Tämä voisi tukea sellaista teoriaa MG-pelistä jossa Raiden on pääosassa. Tai jotain muuta, uusia klooneja ehkäpä? Sen näkee sitten. |

Gamasutran haastattelusta voisi päätellä että Kojima suosii vahvasti Sonyn leiriä. Mutta Sonya valitettavasti painaa tuo isohko hinta joten tulee olemaan jännää kumpi tuon sodan sitten lopuksi vie. Itse olen pitkälti Kojiman kanssa samaa mieltä, että koska Sonyn välineet on ilmeisesti kattavammat olisi peli alalle parempi mikäli se jatkaa konsoli markkinoiden huipulla. Ainakin Sony, X-Box ja Wii kyllä tulee pitkälti tarjoamaan oikean näytännön siitä mitä ihmiset sitten nykyään todella haluaa. Innovaatiota ja kevyttä pelaamista? Tasaista ja taattua menoa? Vai haluavatko he oikeasti edistyä pelikokemuksissa? Terv, Caldera |
