I thought it woudl be a fun idea to share useless facts and get some general chit chat going, so do you know about the origins of the word Posh? The word posh, which denotes luxurious rooms or accomodations, originated when ticket agents in England marked the tickets of travelers going by ship to the Orient. Since there was no air conditioning in those days, it was always better to have a cabin on the shady side of the ship as it passed through the Mediterranean and Suez area. Since the sun is in the south, those with money paid extra to get cabin's on the left, or port, traveling to the Asia, and on the right, or starboard, when returning to Europe. Hence their tickets were marked with the initials for Port Outbound Starboard Homebound, or POSH. Stand facing a wall with your arms stretched out and your finger tips touching said wall. Move one of your arms backwards in a circle and bring it back up to your other arm. It will appear shorter now then when you first started. Erm.... cant remember why though All of the clocks in Pulp Fiction are stuck on 4:20 4:20 is a code for drugs in america It’s estimated that at any one time around 0.7% of the world’s population is drunk. For every memorial statue with a person on a horse, if the horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle; if the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died of battle wounds; if all four of the horse’s legs are on the ground, the person died of natural causes. Also, Starfish have no brains. The first Eskimo Bible was printed in Copenhagen in 1744. The first United States coast to coast airplane flight occurred in 1911 and took 49 days. Spiral staircases in medieval castles are running clockwise. This is because all knights used to be right-handed. When the intruding army would climb the stairs they would not be able to use their right hand which was holding the sword because of the difficulties of climbing the stairs. Left-handed knights would have had no troubles, except left-handed people could never become knights because it was assumed that they were descendants of the devil. A church in Copenhagen has a counter clockwise staircase on the outside of the 107 meter high tower, history say that the builder commitet suicide when he notised his error. At the outbreak of World War I, the American air force consisted of only fifty men. Lafayette was a major general in the United States at the age of 19. Lafayette's whole name takes up an entire line on a page: Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette. It was only after 440 A.D. that December 25 was celebrated as the birth date of Jesus Christ. ( in denmark we use the 24 december) |

It's illegal in Alabama to wear a fake mustache that causes laughter in church. In parts of Alaska, it's illegal to feed alcohol to a moose. You're subject to fines and/or imprisonment for making "ugly faces" at dogs in Oklahoma. In Utah, birds have the right of way on all highways. A local ordinance in Atwoodville, Connecticut prohibits people from playing Scrabble while waiting for a politician to speak. In Hartford, Connecticut, you may not, under any circumstances, cross the street walking on your hands. Mailing an entire building has been illegal in the U.S. since 1916 when a man mailed a 40,000-ton brick house across Utah to avoid high freight rates. Snoring is prohibited in Massachusetts unless all bedroom windows are closed and securely locked. It is also illegal to go to bed without first having a full bath. Women in Florida may be fined for falling asleep under a hair dryer, as can the salon owner. It is legal in North Dakota to shoot an Indian on horseback, provided you are in a covered wagon. |
