Did I fall?
I know what your thinking, (other than beat who is going 'What is with the Kingdom Hearts RLTH?!' XD) RLTH can write? Yes I can... kinda. Decided for yourself.

This is the sad beginning, there is more. :P

“A worst enemy that’s like your dearest friend…
A dearest friend that’s like your worst enemy…
Is this really the fate of a nobody? Can’t somebody help me?”

Prologue

Zax stood still, staring up at the one particularly bright star in the sky. It was a beautiful night, and grassy plains showed no signs of the fierce battle that had been there only a few minutes ago. Zax’s weak and bloody legs crumpled under him as he continued to stare up at the sky. The brown haired boy had seemed to not even notice the fall, he didn’t know what, but something had changed. He just wasn’t sure what he’d become anymore. He looked back to see a girl, Marxie, not far away looking up at a star as well. She had been through everything he’d been through, yet her face wore a look as if nothing had even happened. Her red hair flowed as a slight breeze blew through grass on the seemingly calm night. The color of her hair almost seemed to match the small amount of blood flowing from a cut on her cheek. Zax turned back to the star he was looking at, when he noticed small amount of what looked like black ash float into the air from where he was sitting. Zax moved his arm up into the light of the moon, only to see the ‘ash’ was coming from him. The ‘ash’ was him. He was fading from existence, and there was nothing he could do. Zax fell back against the grass, finally realizing how tired he was, he waited for it all to end. After a few moments, a shadowy figure of what the boy thought was Marxie knelt over him. He could feel her shaking him, and he could read her lips as she got closer. She was calling out to him, but he couldn’t hear her. He could see in her brown eyes, the fear of losing everything. Wait… Fear was the wrong word, nobodies don’t have emotions. Yet, there it was, in her eyes and covering her face. She’d been his best friend his whole life, and now he’d fade like all the others. Zax began to speak, but all that came out was the black ‘ash’ and smoke. He finally just gave up and smiled a little at the girl. Marxie called out and shook him one last time before the boy shut his eyes and completely faded into darkness.

C&C would be appericated. But no flaming please. :P

Oh yeah. I don't own Kingdom Hearts or anything from it. Idea for Zax is from me, and idea for Marxie is from Sujine.

Put 'em up anyway. Also, if you want to become more serious with fanfic writing, post your stuff up to Fanfiction.net Great place to get critiques and reach a larger audience.

(I didn't read the story cause I'd have no idea what's going on, seeing as I've never played Kingdom Hearts :P)

Beat has reminded/convinced me to put the rest of the chapters up, even if I do have better stories now. XD Good luck. I realize there should be more paragraph breaks. :P

Chapter 1-Birth by Sleep

It all happened so fast, Zax had no idea what had happened. He felt like he had been flying over an ocean, not in a plane, but as if he was asleep and he just was floating there. Well, that wasn’t important now. He had a whole new set of worries at this moment in his 15 year old life. He seemed to be just standing there in a blindingly white room. His hazel eyes seemed to take hours to adjust to the light. When they finally did, Zax began to see a figure in a black trench coat standing a few meters in front of him. The coat was long and it had a hood that covered the man’s apparently pale face with a silver chain that tightened the hood.

Zax stepped forward carefully. “Who are you?” The question seemed to echo around the room. “My name is not important. Your name though, is.” The man was about to walk toward Zax, but was interrupted by another shout. “Where are we?” Zax turned around to see a girl standing only a few feet behind him, she wore the same coat as the guy in front of him but without the hood up and she appeared to be the same age as him. Had she been there the whole time? “You both are between the worlds of light and dark.” The hooded man gestured to the area around him. “You are in nothingness.” Zax looked at the man confused. “And you both are nobodies.” The deep voice of the man seemed to echo through the room, it was like the room never ended. “What are nobodies?” Zax asked the man as he stepped back till he was standing next to the red haired girl. “Nobodies are beings that are left behind after a body loses its heart. You two are very interesting nobodies though.” The man lifted up and snapped his fingers. The letters ‘ZA’ appeared before Zax and the letters ‘MARIE’ appeared before the girl. The letters began to spin around their heads at untraceable speeds and stopped again. This time ‘ZAX’ was in front of Zax, and ‘MARXIE’ was in front of the redheaded girl. The two nobodies looked at the other’s name and greeted them silently. The hooded man raised his fingers and snapped once more, the names disappeared in a puff of smoke. “The first name you saw before you was your original name. The second was your name now.” The man began explaining.

“Wait!” Zax shouted as he moved forward, he heard a chain rattle. He looked down at himself; he too was wearing a long black coat. “How come we don’t remember our lives before this? Is that normal?” The man looked at both Zax and Marxie. “No, your others became heartless, and then they transformed back into there original self in less than a few minutes. That is why you don’t remember them, or anything.” All this was so much to take in. Zax just began looking down at the ground. Marxie kept her head high, determined to figure out what to do. “So we’re just a being… We don’t really exist?” The confused Zax asked the seemingly bored man. “Do you wish to be the only you?” The man asked as if he were asking a death wish. Zax’s head rose instantly. “Yes, how do we become our own person?” Zax asked almost excited. “It’s simple… You must destroy your original self; Za and Marie. Simple enough?” The two nobodies nodded at the man, both wanted to be a ‘somebody’. “Then go.” The hooded man raised his fingers and snapped. The two new nobodies disappeared into darkness.

Chapter 2- Finding the others

Zax seemed to be thrown out of the darkness into a small town. He tripped as he tried to gain his balance and fell onto the ground. Marxie followed after him, and fell on his back. After a few moments of recovering, they both got up. The dark portal had closed already, and didn’t look like it was going to open again. Zax looked around at the town. The buildings were a dark yellow and orange and the sun appeared to be setting. “Twilight Town.” Marxie said out loud as if recalling a memory. Zax turned to the girl, she as tall as him. Well, we actually appeared to be one inch shorter than him. But he noticed something else. Their cloaks were gone. They were wearing an odd combination of black and white in their shirts and pants. “Wait, you know this place?” Zax moved towards the girl. “No, I just know the name for some reason.” It was weird. They had just met, yet they thought and acted like they were best friends their whole life.

Suddenly, darkness covered the ground. Zax and Marxie stepped away from the dark. Like shadows, heartless appeared to morph out of the darkness. “Heartless.” Both nobodies said in stereo. There were two flashes of light. A blade in the odd shape of a key appeared in their hands. ‘Keyblade.’ The word echoed throughout the town, but its origin was untraceable. Zax’s keyblade appeared to be made of small rings of white, black and red. The words ‘Bond of Flame’ came into his head and stuck there. That was the name of his blade. Zax looked over at Marxie’s keyblade; it was white with a bit of blue and looked almost as if it were shining. “Oathkeeper.” She told him, as she could tell he wanted to know the name. Zax and Marxie turned back to the fast approaching heartless. They both struck at the oncoming shadows, destroying two of them with one swift strike. They rest of the pack of shadows surrounded them. The next movements came as if naturally. The two continued to slash at the heartless, destroying them as if it were child’s play. One heartless got behind Zax and struck at him. Just before the heartless hit a critical blow to Zax’s head, a white blade tore through the little shadow. Marxie jumped behind Zax, so they were facing the remaining heartless back to back. “Well, this is getting interesting.” Marxie said as she looked back at him. “Sure is. Thanks for the save. If that had hit, I’d be out of the fight.” Zax gave the small thanks as he eyed a small shadow that he felt was getting to close. “Oh, you’re helping?” Marxie asked with a small smile on her face. Zax laughed back. The next thing that happened apparently sprouted in both of the nobodies heads at the same time. Zax switched his keyblade to his left hand as he grabbed Marxie’s hand. Marxie nodded at him and the ‘Trinity Limit’ began.

Zax span Marxie around in a circle, slashing at approaching heartless. Marxie, at the same time, slashed at other oncoming heartless. After a few spins Zax threw her into the air. He focused his energy into his hands and shot it in all directions at the heartless. The heartless closest to him appeared to burn up in red flame. Zax quickly switched his keyblade back to his right hand as Marxie started flying down at him as if ready to strike him. The brown haired boy raised his blade up to block the falling girl’s blade. As soon as the two blades struck each other, a blinding light shot at the heartless. As soon as the light passed, all the heartless were gone. “Times up.” Zax said quickly as the two nobodies gave each other a high five.

Their two keyblades disappeared in a flash as a dark portal appeared in front of them. “Alright; fight, fight, fight. You guys did well. You now have permission by Xemnas to go after your others.” The man stated as he took off his hood and his spiky red hair shot into the air. “The name’s Axel. Commit it to memory.” Zax merely stood there scratching his head. “Um… okay.” On the other hand, Marxie was standing there practically drooling over this new guy with green lines under his eyes. She just wouldn’t stop staring. Zax waved his hand in front of her face, and she quickly snapped out of it. “Well, thanks Axel. See yah later.” Zax was just about to walk through the dark portal when Axel shouted at them to stop. “Here, you’ll need um for what you’re doing.” Axel tossed two key chains at the nobodies. Zax and Marxie each caught one. Zax caught one that shined a bright yellow; it resembled a coin with a cloud and a lighting bolt on it. Marxie’s key chain was pitch black and was in the shape of a crown. “Good luck you two, and don’t go dieing on me.” Zax looked back as he entered the portal. “Believe me. I don’t.” Just as he said the last word, the portal closed.

Chapter 3- Chasing Yourself

As soon as they appeared on the other side of the portal, Zax stuffed the key chain into his pocket. Both of the nobodies began to look around at the world they had just appeared in. The sky was black, as if it had never seen the light of day. “The Underworld.” Zax stated as if the place brought back horrible memories. Marxie was the first to notice the sickeningly green pool of water that they were standing in. Both of them stepped out of the water, onto the hard, black rock. The whole place looked as if it hadn’t seen a live human in it for thousands of years. The only standing monuments were a large eerie cave that looked as if it held millions of inhabitants. The other was a lighted staircase leading up to what seemed to the living world. “They wouldn’t be up there.” Marxie reminded Zax as he continued to stare up at the staircase. Marxie turned to the large blue lined door leading to the dark cave. “Help me open this.” Marxie shouted to Zax as she attempted to push the 5 story doors open herself. Zax walked over, and with the combined strength of the two nobodies, was finally able to open the doors enough to walk into the cave.

As soon as they entered the room, heartless popped up from nowhere. The two nobody’s keyblades appeared in their hands almost instantly. Zax didn’t take time to look over what heartless they were dealing with and ran into the group of heartless, keyblade swinging wildly. Marxie stood behind and watched the situation. She realized that they couldn’t fend off these heartless by themselves. “Zax, wait a second!” She shouted too late. A giant green heartless in the shape of a giant ball with spikes hit Zax across the room before he could even attack once. After Zax slid down from the wall and sat up, the giant green spike ball started spinning faster than the eye could see. The spinning heartless raced at Zax, and didn’t appear to want to stop until he was nothing but darkness. Zax, still recovering from the pain, could only lift his keyblade to barely stop the heartless. But, just as the heartless was barely a foot away from Zax; Marxie appeared in front of him and parried off the attack. In one hand she held her traditional Oathkeeper, in the other she held the Oblivion. “Two?” Zax questioned as he stared at Marxie, who was now running at the heartless faster than he had ever seen any human run. She quickly slashed at the giant green heartless, destroying it in one strike. She then dealt with the remaining heartless in what seemed like seconds.

Marxie turned around to see a stunned Zax, still sitting on the ground. The two keyblades in her hands quickly disappeared. “That…Was awesome.” Was all that Zax could come up with before his keyblade disappeared. “I’m not even going to ask how you did that.” What she had just done seemed like an impossible feat. “Let’s keep going then.” Marxie smiled at Zax as he got up and brushed dirt off his pants. They continued walk through the caves mazes. Every heartless along the way appeared to back away from Marxie, as if afraid of her. Zax was amazed once again, the heartless never backed down to anyone. The cowering heartless meant they could search the caves without any trouble, and they did for what felt like hours. After seeing the same stone arrangement for the fifth time, Zax decided it was time to head back. “There’s clearly nothing here.” But, just as he said that, a girl with brown hair similar to Marxie’s ran at them. Zax thought it might have been a lost soul looking for help. But when a keyblade that appeared to be made out of pure crystal appeared in her hands, he knew it was trouble. The girl jumped into the air and slashed down at the already prepared Marxie. The strike was so strong; it brought Marxie to her knees. “Marxie!” Zax shouted as his Bond of Flame keyblade appeared in his hands. He ran to Marxie’s aid, but was stopped by a blond haired boy with the exact same hair style as him. “So… You’re my nobody?” The boy held a katana looking keyblade with a metal flame on the end of it. Za, Zax’s other laughed at him with what seemed as if he was laughing at a child. “You’re my nobody and you’re this weak?” The blond boy seemed to be quite amused by Zax himself, as a being. “What did you say?!” Zax shouted in his other’s face. Za face turned serious, and pulled his keyblade into a ready stance. “I said you’re a failure. And failures need to be eliminated.” Za was about to strike at Zax when he heard the girls voice behind him. “It’s okay. We’ve taught them enough of a lesson already.” This girl was clearly Marie, Marxie’s other. Both boys looked to see Marie leaning on her Diamond Dust keyblade, and Marxie lying on the ground in a pool of her own blood. Za smiled at his partners work, while Zax stared wide eyed at his possibly dead friend. Zax clenched the handle of his keyblade tighter and ran at Marie, a single tear dropping from his eye as he slashed wildly at the girl. Marie seemed to get out of the way of everyone of his slashes, and slash at him a single time which caused him to drop to his knees in pain. The two ‘others’ walked up to Zax and smiled down at him, as if smiling at a dieing bug. “What is this?” Marie reached down and wiped the single tear from Zax’s face. “Emotion, that can’t be.” She simply stated as she smacked him across the face. This caused Zax to get even angrier. “What do you mean?!” Zax demanded to know what this cruel ‘other’ meant. “Nobodies don’t have emotions; you don’t even have a heart.” Za explained to him. Zax looked down at the ground, how could that be? They’d both been showing emotions this whole journey. How could they not have them? If anyone didn’t have a heart, it was their ‘others’. “I wouldn’t be concerned about emotions right now. I’d be worried about her.” Marie grabbed Zax by the face and forced him to look at Marxie again. The pool of blood had gotten bigger and Zax couldn’t see her chest rise or fall. When Zax looked back at the true keyblade masters, they were gone.

Zax quickly ran over to Marxie and kneeled down beside her. The girl’s blood covered his pant legs as he tried to do something to heal her. It had only been a few seconds, how could Marie have done this so fast? “Marxie, don’t die!” Zax began to shake the girl, but a familiar voice ordered him to stop. “You’re only going to make it worse.” Axel appeared on the other side of Marxie in a crouched stance. Axel picked the girl up carefully and opened a portal to a new world. “Come on, you look pretty bad yourself.” Zax looked down at the cut across his stomach from Marie; it had turned his white and black shirt a shade of red. Both the nobodies quickly walked through the portal and Zax blacked out the instant he entered the new world.

Chapter 4- How do you beat them?

Zax awoke with a startle. He looked around the room he was in, only to find it was a very familiar all white room. Zax was lying in a small bed; his cut on his stomach was healed. The light seemed to show off his abs as he sat up in the bed. A brand new shirt sat on a small white table next to him. Zax examined the room, and it appeared to be a hospital room of sorts. Everything was white, but there were multiple beds in the room. In a bed across the room from his bed was an awake, and all healed up Marxie. Zax jumped a little at the sight of her looking at him, and quickly put on his new shirt. Marxie chuckled at the reaction she got from Zax. “It’s okay dude. You’ve been asleep for hours. I was just lying here thinking of how to beat those jerks.” Zax calmed down a bit. “Well, if you’re ready then let’s go.” Zax hesitantly slid off his bed and stood up. “We’re supposed to wait until you read that note, and then we can leave.” Almost as if on cue, Zax saw a small note card sitting on the end of his bed. Zax read the note out loud so Marxie could hear it too.

‘Alright, you guys got beat up real bad. Not bad for your first shot though. Of course, Larxene told me to tell you that you guys sucked. Yes, everyone here is watching. You bring us all hope that one day we may become whole again. That is, if you succeed. Now we’ve got some tips for ya.

Marxie: Zax is your teammate; he’s there to help you. If you ever get into a tough situation like that again, you should call for his or anyone here at the organization’s help. No one can do what your doing alone, except the Superior. We almost lost you completely there for a minute; just don’t make that mistake again.

Zax: Man, you’re screwed up. Showing emotion in battle? You’re a nobody, you don’t do that. If you show your others emotion again, you might as well be saying ‘I give up.’ We can’t have that, now can we? Same for you too Zax, call for help if you ever need it. Got it memorized?

Both of you: Once you’re done reading this there should be a portal to your next world. I won’t tell you what world it is, but you guys to need to be fully prepared before you go. See ya later’

~ Flurry of Dancing Flames, Axel

Zax looked up from the note to see a dark portal in front of both the young nobodies’ beds. Marxie was already up and standing in front of it. “Are you sure we’re ready?” Zax asked, not really wanting to go through the same experience again. “We have to go now. Come on; don’t tell me your scared, dude.” Marxie smiled at the boy. “Fine, let’s go.” Zax got up from his bed and followed the girl into the next world.

As soon as they appeared out of the dark, guns were pointing at their heads. The two teenagers looked around to see they were in an old fashioned bar, where all kinds of sailors were drinking and fighting. A small sign on the wall said, ‘Welcome to Port Royal.’ It had a picture of a sailor holding a beer flask and had his other arm around a woman. Both nobodies seemed disgusted by the shape of the bar. There were people sitting next to pigs in mud and people screaming while throwing bottles at other patrons. Both then turned there attention to the two men holding guns to their heads. These men were clearly drunk, barely able to hold their pistols up straight. “Well, look what we got us here.” The man hiccupped as he pressed the gun harder to Zax’s head. The harsh contact made his keyblade appear in a flash of light. The drunken man seemed amazed and yet scared by the blade. “How did you do that there, sonny?” Zax didn’t have enough time to answer before another man came up to the two. This new man had a red bandana over most of his hair, except for a few strands that came down in front of his face. His beard and mustache seemed to be tied very professionally. “Hey mates, I’ll take it from here.” The man said in an almost quiet voice. The two drunken men looked at the newly appeared man. “Well Captain, you can take the boy. But we want the girl.” The two men looked Marxie up and down slyly. This comment made Zax’s eye twitch uncontrollably, and Marxie’s keyblade appear in her hand and enraged look plastered on her face. The captain and the drunken men saw this look and backed away a little. “I think it would best if you left the lass here too, mate. Or by the looks of it, you won’t ever be coming back.” The drunken men released the guns and walked off in a drunken stupor, while the captain stayed where he was. “I’m Captain Jack Sparrow. Now you two don’t look like your on a honeymoon, so why are you younglings in a place like this?” Both nobodies twitched at the first comment, but responded anyway. “We’re looking for two people our age, with similar hair and clothes as us. Seen any around?” Zax asked the seemly confused man. “Well, I reckon I haven’t seen any one by the likes of you two, lad. But I can help you find them.” Marxie was confused why this man would want to help them, and the captain could clearly tell. “I’ll tell you what I want in return later. Savvy?” Both the nobodies hesitantly agreed. “Good, now follow me.” Jack began to walk away with what appeared to be his trademark walk. Both nobodies looked at each other with a ‘What did we just get ourselves into?’ look, but followed the captain out the door and into the cool nighttime air.

Chapter 5- The Lesson

The town outside of the bar was small. The streets were crowded with even more drunken people. “This is chaos.” Zax said out loud, even though he meant to keep it to himself. “That’s Port Royal for ya, lad.” Jack said to the boy behind him as he quickly got out of the way of a screaming man, who had somehow lit himself on fire. “This is too creepy.” Marxie stated, now noticing even more male eyes on her. Zax quickly glared at all the men that were almost drooling over the sight of her, which made them instantly look away or back at their buddies. Jack and the nobodies continued walking through the town. The two teens seemed shocked at the condition the port was in; but Jack just continued walking as if it were a normal stroll through a park, almost oblivious to what was happening around him. They continued their walk until they reached a harbor. “That beauty would be the Black Pearl.” Jack pointed to a black ship docked in the port. It looked old, very old. Its mast had small holes; it didn’t look like it could sail at all. As the three rounded a corner to head towards the dock, a small group of large heartless appeared.

The two nobodies’ keyblades appeared in their hands in a flash of light, while Jack casually drew his sword. Zax was about to run in on the heartless, when a hand reached out and stopped him. “Hold it there, mate.” Jack pushed Zax away from the heartless. “There are better ways to attack than runnin’ in all guns ablazing, savvy?” Jack explained the lesson that Axel had tried to teach him earlier. Jack pulled out a bomb the size of a big softball and threw it into the center of the group of heartless. After a few seconds the bomb went off, creating a giant explosion. Once the smoke cleared, there were no heartless left except one small shadow. “See, lad? It’s not always about power, but about thinking.” Jack pointed to his own head, trying to get through to the boy. Zax finally understood. He looked at the small shadow and threw his keyblade at it. The blade hit dead center in the small heartless’ head, causing it to disappear in a cloud of darkness, followed by a small pink heart floating into the air. The keyblade appeared in his hand again in a flash of light. Jack and Marxie looked surprised at the outcome of the attack; they had both expected Zax to fail. Zax just smiled at the both of them as he proceeded to walk towards the Black Pearl, the others quickly followed. Once told how everything worked on the Pearl, the three set off on a journey to look for the ‘others’. When they arrived at a place called Isla de Muerta, the group jumped off the ship. Jack seemed to be hesitant about leaving his beloved ship, but apparently the prize for helping them was much more important. The small group ran into the caves, defeating as many heartless as time allowed. They were about to turn the corner into another open area when they heard voices from the other side. “Just lock it so we can get out of this rat hole world. These stupid pirates are driving me crazy.” All three peaked around a rock wall to see Za and Marie. Marie was locking the door to the world of Port Royal. As soon as Jack heard the ‘stupid pirate’ part, Zax and Marxie could tell he didn’t like them. “Alright lad, remember to use your head.” Jack pointed to his head again as Zax got up and grabbed Marxie’s keyblade from out of her hand. “What, give that back.” Marxie demanded. “Hold on. Besides, you have another one anyway.” Zax quietly threw the Oathkeeper into the cave roof a few meters ahead of him. He then walked out from behind the rock wall.

“Well, if it isn’t mister nobody.” Za almost looked happy to see his other. “Come on, do something funny. Oh, wait. How is Marxie? She didn’t die did she?” Za said in as if trying to twist the knife in a fresh wound. The keyblade master didn’t seem to notice the Oathkeeper only a few feet ahead of him stuck in the ceiling. Zax apparently had thought of this already as his eyes were already overflowing with fake tears. “Don’t you have any respect for the dead at all!!?” Zax shouted at his other. “Oh, so she did die? My deepest apologies.” Za continued his mocking tone. Zax was faking his pain quite well, but Marie could tell it was all fake. She was about to say something but Za rushed at Zax. “I’ll make it all better!” Zax threw his keyblade up at the Oathkeeper, knocking rocks loose from above. The giant rocks came down from the ceiling and landed on Za. After a few moments of silence, a rock wall was now between the nobodies and the keyblade masters. Zax happily at his works and then turned around, holding both the Oathkeeper and Bond of Flame in each of his hands. He threw the Oathkeeper to Marxie, who was slightly impressed by Zax’s improvement in his planning process. Jack even looked slightly amused at the rock wall. The pride ended for all of them when a small gummi ship took off into the sky from the other side of the rock wall. Two people were clearly visible in the cockpit. “####!”Zax shouted as both nobodies tried to guess at where they’d be heading next. But before they could say a word a dark portal appeared in front of them. Jack hopped back a bit from the portal, looking at it with a look of curiosity on his face. “Well Jack. I guess this is goodbye, till another time.” Marxie explained as both nobodies approached the portal. “That’s Captain Jack Sparrow. And what about what I wanted in return?” Zax sighed as he put his hand forth and in a great flash of light and different looking keyblade appeared. It had skull and crossbones on the end of it and it appeared in the shape of a regular pirate sword. Zax handed the sword to Jack who examined it in the moonlight. “And it won’t come back to you or disappear, right mate?” Jack seemed to be worried that he would be tricked. “Nope, it stays with you as long as you remember us.” Zax pounded a fist to where his heart would be if he had one, symbolizing the friendship each shared. “Alright then, best be seeing you again then.” Jack stated as he finally smiled at the two nobodies. Both of the teens waved goodbye then walked through the portal. After the portal closed, Jack turned around and began walking towards the love of his life, the sea. He swung the keyblade a few times; it felt natural in his hands. “Those two wouldn’t make to bad of pirates.” Jack commented as he hopped aboard the Black Pearl, and pulled out his compass. “Bring me that horizon, yo ho.”

Chapter 6- Class is now in session, please draw your swords.

The two nobodies appeared outside of the portal and stepped onto some cold glass rock had an eerie look to it, but it also looked almost natural. The two nobodies started to look around when Marxie noticed she had a note in her hand. She read it out loud.

Not Bad Zax. I think you’re finally getting the hang of fighting with your head. You did good, but not good enough yet. Marxie, don’t worry about Zax hogging all the glory. You’ll get your chance now. Your opponent I’ve set you up with is a skilled fighter and one of my best friends. You should have fun fighting him. I’ll give you a hint, he’s a nobody and he’s your age. If you don’t know yet then I’m not going to explain, but he should be there at any moment now. You need to work together to beat him, just like you’ll need to work together to beat your others. Got it memorized?

~Flurry of Dancing Flames, Axel

When the nobodies finished reading, they examined the area. The whole place looked like darkness other than the platform they were standing on. This ‘platform’ was lit by a stain glass floor, which lights appeared from underneath. There was a boy with brown hair in the glass with a keyblade like neither of them had seen before. There were other faces in the glass, such as a blue haired boy, a red haired girl, a duck, and what appeared to be a strange looking dog. None of these pictures made any sense to either nobody, but it clearly had some purpose there.

Just as they both finished looking around, a boy their height appeared through a dark portal, he wore the traditional nobody coat. The boy looked at both nobodies, and then removed his hood, revealing his spiky blonde hair. Zax swore if he hadn’t grabbed Marxie by the arm, she would have been instantly hugging the boy. He didn’t know why, but Marxie seemed to like every blonde haired guy in the organization. “I’m Roxas. I trust you’re Zax,” Roxas pointed to Zax, just to confirm the people he was fighting. “And you must be Marxie.” Roxas smiled lightly at the girl. The girl appeared to regain her senses at the sound of her name. “It says here that I get to fight you two; just for training.” Roxas continued to read his note from Axel. “Oh, you guys are trying to beat your others, that’s daring. I wish I could find my other.” Roxas sighed a little as the Oblivion keyblade appeared in his right hand, while the Oathkeeper appeared in his left hand. He got into his fighting stance and waited for the others to get ready. “Come on, I don’t have all day.” He smiled at the two, this was clearly going to be fun, but Roxas wouldn’t hold back. If he did hold back, they wouldn’t learn a thing.

Both of the pair of nobodies looked at each other, than at Roxas. Their keyblades appeared in their hands in a flash of light. The Bond of Flame in Zax’s hand, and the Oathkeeper in Marxie’s hand. Roxas seemed a little confused by how he and Marxie had the same keyblade, but he didn’t question it. Roxas made the first move, he charged forward at the two trainees. Marxie charged forward straight at Roxas, while Zax jumped high into the air above the two. Marxie blocked and parried strikes as Zax threw his keyblade straight down at Roxas. The Key of Destiny quickly jumped back away from the blade. Zax’s keyblade appeared in his hand again as he dropped down to the ground below. He and Marxie stood together, keyblades at the ready, waiting for the next move. When Roxas continued to stand there, the two decided it was their turn to make the move. Marxie pulled out her Oblivion keyblade, and held the two blades up for Roxas to see. Sora’s nobody seemed even more confused by the fact that they had the exact same keyblades. Zax pulled out his second keyblade; it was a black yellow and had a star on the end. The Hero’s Crest shined slightly in the light coming from the floor. “So you both have two?” Roxas questioned as he smiled a little. Zax and Marxie looked at each other than back at Roxas. “Axel!!” Zax shouted as Axel appeared out of nowhere. At that moment, the ‘Nobodies Barrage’ Trinity Limit began.

“Burn!” Axel shouted as he threw his spiky chakrams at the blonde nobody. Roxas hit away the wheel shaped weapons, but was distracted just long enough for the two nobodies to appear on both sides of him. The red and brown haired teens hit the Key of Destiny into the air. Marxie teleported in a classic Axel style, and reappeared above Roxas. She struck Roxas downward with her blades. Roxas tried to regain his footing only to be hit into the air by Zax again. He got hit back and forth like a ping pong ball, until finally Marxie slashed downwards at Roxas, while Zax jumped up and slashed at him. “You’ll lose it all!!” Zax shouted at the hopeless looking Roxas. The ending result was poor Roxas being struck by four keyblades, each coming from below or above him. Roxas fell to the ground, dropping the Oblivion in the process. The other two nobodies landed on the ground, Marxie was standing up straight, but Zax was holding a deep wound on his chest. The brown haired boy fell to the ground, holding the wound in pain. Apparently in the chaos of the hitting back and forth, Roxas was able to slash at Zax. Roxas got up quickly and ran for the Oblivion, but Marxie was too quick. She stuck the Oathkeeper into a small hole in the Oblivion, so Roxas could pull it out. She then pointed her own Oblivion at the blonde. The Key of Destiny dropped his Oathkeeper; admitting defeat with a small smile.

Roxas and Marxie walked over to the injured Zax. “Here, I’ll teach you a way to fix him up. Heal!” Roxas held out his hand in front of him. A magical looking flower the size of a softball appeared above Zax and opened, dropping some bubble stuff on Zax. The brown haired boy turned over, revealing that his injury was gone. “Whoa.” Marxie looked slightly impressed. She held her hand out a shouted, “Heal!” But nothing happened. Roxas showed her again, but Marxie had to do it a few times more before getting the hang of it. “Nice job you two.” Roxas smiled as he helped Zax up onto his feet. “And I never thought you’d drag Axel into this.” Roxas’ smile got even bigger as he remembered Axel. “You both are defiantly ready to take on your others.” Both Marxie and Zax fell to the ground, finally realizing how tired they were from that battle. “Hey, you guys ever need my help, just call; and like Axel I’ll be there. Got it?” Marxie seemed to blush a little, and Zax nodded with a smile. It was odd, but all three of these nobodies were very similar. They all acted as if they had hearts. Roxas waved good bye to his new friends as he walked through a dark portal back to the nobodies’ world. A new portal appeared in front of Zax and Marxie, and a small note fluttered out of it and continued to remain open.

‘Whenever you’re ready, you can go through this portal. Your others are in this world right now. Just make sure you’re both prepared. Both of you would be crushed mentally and physically if the other of you faded now, so don’t screw it up. You can rest when you’re whole again.’

~Good luck, Axel

Axel signed the note differently, which was odd to the two nobodies. They both looked at each other. It was true; if either of them died, the other would be lost. They were each the first friends that they had ever had. The two nobodies smiled at each other and nodded. “I won’t die as long as you don’t.” Zax promised. “Me too.” They both smiled a big grin a they shook hands, sealing the promise. Both got up after resting for a bit and stared at the portal. Their keyblades appeared: The Bond of Flame and Hero’s Crest for Zax and Oathkeeper and Oblivion for Marxie. Zax took a deep breath before walking through the portal, Marxie sighed as she followed. As the portal closed behind them all that was left was the platform they had been standing on, and it shined in the darkness even as they left.

Chapter 7- You ready for this?

Zax appeared outside the portal, they looked around as the portal shut behind them. The field they were in looked as if it was from an old painting. The moonlight shined on the grassy plain, casting an eerie glow over everything. It made the shadows of the grass appear to be heartless, but there was strangely no heartless in this world. Off in the distance, as if a just a blur, stood two people. They seemed to be staring at the moon. Even if Zax couldn’t see them, he knew they were their others. Instead of running at them, swinging his sword wildly, Zax decided to walk quietly up to his other. Marxie followed him as he walked through the grass towards the ‘others’. He kept his breath calm and neared his real self. The keyblade masters seemed slightly caught off guard and there keyblades appeared in a flash of light which lit up the dark field only momentarily. The first part of the battle began here; in the minds of the fighters. Each master staring down their other in a battle of confidence and wit. Both nobodies stood calmly with the two keyblades in each hand. The other two keyblade masters stood in a ready stance, appearing to be a little nervous at the sight of their others. Each keyblade master now held a keyblade in their other hand. The Fenrir in Za’s left hand and the Ultimta in Marie’s left hand. Za couldn’t take the look that he was getting from Zax any longer; the piercing stare that seemed to look right through him. He charged with his blades at the ready. Marie charged after him, not able to take how confident her nobody looked, it made her sick. The nobodies had won the mental battle, but could they win the actual battle? Zax blocked away Za’s attacks, while Marxie jumped back away from the attacks. Marie ran after Marxie, while Za continued to attack Zax. Zax couldn’t see what was happening with Marxie, but he continued to fight his other. Za slashed across Zax, one keyblade hitting his legs while the other was blocked off. The nobodies legs crumpled under from the blow and his other struck at him. It seemed like the strike took forever to hit Zax, so he looked up to see Marxie blocking Za’s attack. “You owe me one now, dude.” Marxie smiled as she pushed Za away and started attacking her other again. Zax used the time that Za was being knocked back to strike Za in the side, knocking him down for a few seconds. Zax ran over and struck Marie in the side just as she was about to hit Marxie. “No more favors, okay?” Zax smiled as he jumped away from a sneak attack by his other as Marxie fell back from a slice at her head, leaving a nice cut on her cheek. The two nobodies grabbed hands, and the ‘Ultimate Trinity Limit’ began.

Each of the two nobodies shouted a different name. “Axel!” Zax shouted as Marxie shouted, “Roxas!” A portal appeared in front of the two as The Flurry of Dancing Flames and The Key of Destiny jumped at the two keyblade masters. Axel hit Za across the face with his chakrams, while Roxas hit Marie in the stomach with both his keyblades. The two helping nobodies jumped out of the teen nobodies’ way as they rushed at their others and hit them into the air. Zax and Marxie threw one keyblade at their other and pointed their remaining keyblade at the targets still in the air. Two beams of light shot at their others. “How can you be stronger?” Za shouted at the last moment. “Because we have more of a heart than you.” Zax shouted back as the light pierced right through their other’s hearts. The two wicked keyblade masters fell to the ground. Za was dead, but Marie still barely showed signs of life; but she would join Za soon. Zax and Marxie stood where they were but Marxie refused to look at the nonexistent others. She walked a good few feet away. Zax, for some reason, was compelled to look at a star in the sky.

The darkness felt oddly like water, it flowed past him as Zax sunk deeper and deeper. Nothing could possibly save him now, he was barely conscious but his mind was racing. The nobody did not notice the light glimmer of light that had just illuminated the endless sea...
Zax broke the surface of a deep blue ocean, the sun shone brightly in the sky. He blinked out the brightness and shook the drops of water from his brown hair. It was a definite change, as if nothing had happened. Looking around, the boy noticed an island nearby. As he looked closer, it appeared there was a dock, and upon the dock sat a red haired girl, her back to him. "Could it be...?” Zax muttered, breathless, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Just a while ago, he was dying in the arms of his friend, so how did he end up here. Shaking his head once more, Zax began swimming to shore.
As he swam, the wake that he created seemed to catch the girl's attention, and she turned around. The girl paused for a while then stood up and ran to the edge of the ocean; she waved wildly at Zax with a bright smile on her face. Excitedly, as the water got shallow, Zax began running. He soon reached the shore, and collapsed onto his knees as the girl's hand clasped around his, "Marxie..." Zax cried, Marxie smiled brightly back at him. "Welcome." she said wistfully, lifting her friend out of the water...

A gentle breeze blew around a tiny island; it moved the leaves in the palms and made a soft rustle. On the shore, close to the crashing waves lie two people, their eyes peacefully shut as they held each others hands. One with red hair, the other with brown. It was a wonderful day. But as the tide rushed in, the two people washed away with it, never existing. The fate of a nobody.
