* Ebon is at the Fortress of the Second when Heiron strides in with Mandred and Ghengis (Ghengis is a Halfling Druid, not sure about Mandred) two new arrivals who have responded to the call

* Heiron informs Ebon that he has been trying to contact Elsabeth because he has discerned the location of Ebon's armour and was going to ask her to go with him to get it, however he has determined she is already there. This means she is in danger

* Everyone volunteers to got to her aid so Heiron uses the Mirror of Triumphant Transportation to transport them there

* They arrive at Leannapazrak's stronghold on top of the raised platform, though none of them recognise it because they weren't in the group that was there before

* They find dead spider's eye goblins and the dragon's corpse and tracks of Elsabeth and two others in the blood heading towards the door

* Beyond the door Elsabeth and the two Narleths are suddenly caught in a flamestrike. The wall collapses and a Hellfire Golem emerges

* The Narleths spring forwards to fight but are rapidly despatched

* Elsabeth's magic is ineffective. The golem is immune to it. Oh dear! She runs

* Outside the doors Ebon, Mandred and Genghis discover they are barred by a wall of force. Mandred turns ethereal and attempts to pass through but the barrier prevents him

* Elsabeth reaches the other side of the doors and his hit by another flamestrike as the golem bellows "Feel the wrath of my mistress!"

* While Genghis is stoneshaping a furrow in the floor under the doors, Ebon strikes the door in frustration

* From the hole comes a great heat and a deep bellowing voice "GET AWAY FROM THE HOLE. YOU WON'T ESCAPE THAT EASILY"

* Then Elsabeth in gargoyle form appears on the platform behind them. "Ebon, get away from the doors" she warns. "There's a Hellfire Golem behind them"

* The doors explode outwards

* Ebon and Mandred face the golem as it surges out of the hole. Both hit it but it seems resistant to their blows and barrels past them intent on reaching Elsabeth

* It attacks her and she is badly injured. Ebon intervenes just in time, hitting it repeatedly and distracting it long enough for Elsa to retreat and put up a Wall of Force between them

* The golem then jumps off the platform to get around the wall

* It fireballs Elsa but she reflects the magic back at it only to see some of its damage regenerated by the fire

* Then Genghis, who has turned into a huge Shambling Mound, incants and summons a similarly huge Earth Elemental, which erupts from the floor and attacks the golem

* Mandred and Ebon go over the side of the platform to join the fray

* The golem retreats

* They are going to follow it when Elsa says that Ebon's armour and the dragon's hoard are beyond the doors

* They go inside and recover what they can

* Ebon notes that Elsa's eyes are glowing with a faint blue light

* They prep and head back out through the stronghold but the golem is gone. All they find is a message on the tunnel floor in a mixture of Infernal and Draconic. It reads, "You will feel the wrath of Tiamat again"

* When they reach the entrance, Elsa says that she left some items at Legagog's and needs to return for them.

* They go there. One of Legagog's daughters gives Elsa her stuff and tells her in no uncertain terms that Legagog is currently unavailable

* The group returns to Sigil and the Fortress of the Second

* A message has arrived to inform Ebon that there is a message awaiting him at the Tout's Guild

* Elsa relates her part of the story (i.e. what happened in Episode 2.6) She had intended to avenge Ebon's death, short though it was

* They talk and find out a little more about Mandred and Genghis. Then retire

* The next morning Elsabeth says she must go to the Temple of Fharlanghan to return Baratus's staff. The other three tag along

* Once they are finished at the Temple they go to the Tout's Guild to pick up Ebon's message. Ebon and Elsa go in while Mandred and Genghis wait outside

* A silver hound is waiting there. It carries a message from Marann that tells Ebon the glaive is back in the hands of the Church of Pholtus, and that he is willing to help Ebon reaquire it. It suggests that Marann has had a change of heart and ends. "If you wish to contact me I'm sure you can"

* Elsa takes the group shopping which causes Mandred and Genghis to rapidly depart. Ebon stays for a while and then goes to the Temple of Pelor to see Fallana when he realises it's going to be one of Elsa's longer shopping trips

*Later at dinner, Heiron apologises for not coming in person to rescue Elsabeth. He explains that Mandred had brought some very disturbing news that needed to be looked into. A grave concern has arisen on the world of Greyhawk.

* He goes on to say that he has a mission for them all that will mean an extended absence from the Fortress. On Greyhawk a plot to return the Prince's of Elemental Evil has been foiled but the thanes have not been cleansed, and there remains a potent threat from one known as Hedrach. The representatives of the 5th tribe that are nearby in Verbobonc have become ineffective and may have been infiltrated by the Enemy. A conclave has decided that the Second tribe should undertake an extended mission to Verbobonc to deal with the situation. Mandred will be their guide....

The End

Thanks for that Bruce - I will amend the 2.6 notes appropriately ...

We'll keep all the events listed above bar the last two asterisks; i.e.

No problem. And am happy to drop the last section, only if we are no longer going to Greyhawk I would query this bit also:

Quote:

* A silver hound is waiting there. It carries a message from Marann that tells Ebon the glaive is back in the hands of the Church of Pholtus, and that he is willing to help Ebon reaquire it. It suggests that Marann has had a change of heart and ends. "If you wish to contact me I'm sure you can"

The issue with this is that at the time, though not in session, you said that Marann was going to offer Ebon a deal that meant he was free to use the glaive while he was on Greyhawk.

Since we now won't be on Greyhawk, is this still appropriate?

Given Ebon's history I was a little surprised at Marann's change of heart at the time, though I assumed you had something up your sleeve. Would it be better to drop the bits about the message and either just have the glaive still missing for the time being or in the dragon's hoard with the armour?

If not in the hoard perhaps an early story involving its return is in order, though like I say I can't see the Church of Pholtus giving it back to the apostate if they indeed had it

Hmmm ... I think this:

Quote:

* A silver hound is waiting there. It carries a message from Marann that tells Ebon the glaive is back in the hands of the Church of Pholtus, and that he is willing to help Ebon reaquire it. It suggests that Marann has had a change of heart and ends. "If you wish to contact me I'm sure you can"

should now read this:

Quote:

* A silver hound is waiting there. It carries a message from Marann that says: "Things within the Holy Church are not as they should be ... I am unable to continue with the distraction that you have become.  The Glaive of St Simeon remains a holy relic of our faith and we do not relinquish our claim upon it, but we are willing to negotiate the subjet of its guardianship. My Hound will return here in one day after you collect this message for your answer. If you wish a peaceful resolution to this, I suggest you agree to meet somewhere outside Sigil of your choosing"

whaddya think of that?

RBDM Note: Yes this does mean that Marann believes that you have the Glaive, and yes, you still don't B)

Intriguing. I like it and I think it fits better. Even if it does present Ebon with yet another problem!

We'll go with that then :)
