That's because several people let him have it. He has had this coming for a long time. All of his "rants" are coming back to bite him. He can talk all he wants, very few people believe a word that he says. |

Did I hear correctly when he said that young people are not moving to this city because of proposal A? |

Yes he did--he also stated that most of the student loss was not from the LIe. |

Must have been Detroit's School Board meeting. You know how brainless that has been lately.

Seems in Freemans world, the economy is worse in Livonia than anyplace else in Michigan. We all know that's the reason Livonia lost so many students, but no other district lost near as many. Yeah....that's it...... I think he needs to wake up and realize that the BOE caused this.... |

And because of proposal A, houses in Livonia are too expensive for young couples, so they all move to Northville and or Plymouth-canton. |

Hey Fran, I have a question for you. Do you personally know the woman that spoke this evening? It's very easy to make assumptions about people you do not know. |

Speakers tonight were simply outstanding -- everyone of them. Steve Futrell outshines every BOE member up there. He is articulate and intelligent. I am thankful that C. Markarian acknowledges that their are a lot of unhappy customers out there. She may have voted for this plan but I believe she is sincere about resolving some of the things that drove people away. Steve King was vague but did confirm that he is not a rubber stamper. Tom Bailey confirmed he IS a rubber stamper ("I support this board") -- as far as I am concerned, his No vote was the last sensible thing he did -- I would not count on him for anything at this point. Robert Freeman -- this guy would blame proposal A for global warming. Get over it -- it happened over 10 years ago -- it is a reality -- I probably could not afford my home today without prop A (cities and school districts are notoriously money hungry). He believes only a small amount of the 520 students left do to the LI -- don't you think it would be worthwhile to find out the truth? How can you go forward not knowing if this is going to further drive people out of the district? Lessard and Whitehead said nothing. Mrs. Scheel is correct in that whatever they decided to do, people would have been dissatisfied. I believe though, that this plan created more chaos and affected more people than any other plan. Whatever plan they had chosen, if they had only asked for their customer's input -- they would have at least been able to say "this is what the people chose." As a "customer", I did not hear much as far why I should keep my kids enrolled in this district. |

Also, I would like to know if there is any merit to what that one speaker was saying about student achievement in LPS? I had no idea that our schools were below average. He never said what he was basis he statements on (ie: MEAP scores). |

Absolutely. Any plan would have caused some people to leave. But we are not talking about just some people. We are talking about hundreds of people. People that do not speak at BOE meetings, write the paper, or even really get involved. But these are the people that constitute the majority. They should not have been ignored. Unfortunately, they have spoken in the most damaging way possible. They left. We are now paying the price for it. |

Love how the board members "try" to cover Randy's back by saying they took into account people that left due to the LI----even though he said publicly that they did not.

I believe markarian still has it wrong, I thought 162 students was the number budgeted for, not 250. |

That should make for an interesting debate topic in May. |
