My "huh" is for the above poster. Children should not be "used" just for "someone's want to know."

This isn't asking them what their favorite ice cream flavor is. This is divisive--especially in this climate. Bad move.

An adult is definitely behind this. And, if that adult wants to read a survey, why not check out the BOE's own?

Summer '05--the BOE conducted a phone poll of 2,500 LPS customers...Quess what?

65% said stick w/K-6! IGNORED BY BOE

How 'bout those pesky 55,000 signatures approved and validated by the Wayne County Elections Board. All said RECALL the LI-votin' BOE members. IGNORED!

What does it take to communicate w/these individuals? They are so selective, regarding the input they deem "valid."

It's an embarassment. The lack of intellectual honesty is abhorrent.

No I do not agree.

Maybe you can help the rest of us make sense of all of LPS's contradictory statements. Was the LI about saving the district financially? or was it about programs? or a superior configuration...we've heard them all and more. Was the district on the brink of receivership or sitting on a pile of cash stashed away in different funds? We've heard both and more. Without the LI would we have high schools in the future or will the loss of students bankrupt the district? Would LPS be in receivership now if the LI didn't roll this year? Will it be anyway since Randy refuses to admit it isn't working and the district is bleeding students? Did we actually lose 160 or 500 students? The district withholds the true number, trying to confuse as many as possible with the amount they budgeted for, hoping people would accept that and move on. Pre-LI, Lisa L. and others told us that the fund equity was below where it should be and it couldn't possibly be used to float the district for a year while other options to the LI were thoroughly examined. But now they are all set to dip into a "larger than expected" fund equity to help them (as much as it can) from the devastating financial losses due to the LI?
Maybe you can clear up these contradictions since you seem to be on the same page as LPS. The rest of us are having a tough time following...

This would make a great letter to the editor. Or to hear being read at a BOE meeting. This pretty much sums up what so many are thinking.
Exactly WHAT are we suppose to believe?

Johnson Co-Principals: Mrs. Linda Minsterman and Mr. Richard Steele.

I have not asked my 6th grader yet if he took a survey. Sounds like it is 5th grade classes so far? Mrs. Dunton and Mrs. Raylean are both 5th grade. What about Mrs. Yee? Does anyone have a 6th grader that took this survey?

MY DAUGHTER IS IN THE SIXTH GRADE. MR. WRIGHTS CLASS

My 6th grade son has Mrs. Polinsky and he did not take that survey. He is in House 2. His 2 friends have Mr. Wright and they are in House 1. I wonder if they gave it to only House 1?

And BTW heymom, that little survey that a middle schooler conducted could also have been suggested by a parent that supports the LI. But I guess it's just easier to blame and make accusations toward an opposer, eh???

What I dont get is why werent the kids told anything about this? They should have told them it was a students assignment.

also not to start another uproar but did you know that the Johnson recess has been shortend by 5 min.so that the kids can get back to class before lunch, while the halls are clear. They then have to wait in class for a couple of min. for the other kids to go out to recess then they can go to lunch.???????

Call it what you want, it is still minus 5 mins, for the kids to get out and be kids.
Now they have to wait in the classroom and be all quiet for the 5 minutes!

I didn't realize that other schools didn't have a five minute bell. It's been this way at Coolidge since my 6th grader was a Kindergartner. Before that, I'm not sure.
