My daughter just told me that she took a survey at school. It asked the kids if they liked 5/6 or k-6 better. She attends Johnson.Did any other kids have to fill out this survey?

Are they planning to use the results to defend the LIe when they announce the enrollment #'s? But......the kids are happy and that's all that really matters? -$$$$-$$$$$

Yeah, I leave all of the really big decisions that imapct their futrue up to my kids
I wouldn't even trust the results that LPS puts out, you know that it will be all sunshine and rainbows, regardless of what the kids actually say. LPS doesn't have a good track record of accurately reporting info. |

LPS, transportation for all

I'm sure we'll see that survey printed as a headline in the Observer: "LPS KIDS HAPPY AT NEW SCHOOLS, LIEPA GETS RAISE" |

My kids love candy even though it is bad for their teeth. Maybe we should survey the parents? |

We have just begun to fight!

The Board and Central Office were already asked if they planned on surveying those who left the district... The answer was "NO" They do not want to hear the truth. |

A survey that was easily manipulated. Make sure the kids have an extra fun day at school, give them a special treat followed by the survey. This holds about as much water as a glass with a hole in the bottom does. I can bet that most kids would be hesitant to tell the truth anyway (afraid of being singled out). |

If they use a survey taken by kids as defensible to the Late Initiative, they will look desperate to me. I'm sure the student count is causing them to reach for anything. |

Many kids voiced how they were sad, did not want to leave their school 2 years early. They didn't listen then. Now a survey??

LPS has sunk to a new low with this one. How disgusting to "survey" kids about which configuration they like better. Why didn't they survey the kids before they came up with the LI? I bet the answer would have been overwhelmingly K-6. I get more and more disgusted as each day passes. |

Holland never attempted this type of survey. But the idea was suggested by a pro-focus school parent in a letter to the editor at the end of the 1st year of implementation. This was right after some school board members first went public with their questioning of the plan. http://www.hollandsentinel.com/stories/061...061304045.shtml Of course, I responded with my own letter a few days later. Hope you enjoy parody! http://www.hollandsentinel.com/stories/061...061604019.shtml |

I would not like this idea at all (survey) I'm not comfortable with various opinion/writing exercises I've heard about. I'm all for an educated debate in the classroon for the sake of learning, but when you make someone document their opinions/feelings and then later use it against them (yes, it has happened) That's when I see a huge problem. |

A survey like this is absurd. I'm calling our principal to inquire about this. AK |
