The meeting starts in less than 3 hours and there is still no agenda on the LPS web site. While the open meetings act only requires that the meeting date, time and place be posted, if the board really wants to improve communication, posting an agenda would be a simple start. I know that they are going to have that new software called "board book" soon, so perhaps this will improve. |

They are having a financial meeting tonight, but they are limiting it to 25 people and you were to sign up ahead of time. |

You just gotta luv the new measures the BOE is putting in place to show "transparency". 25 people does not a public meeting make. Why not just change the name to Livonia Schools.

This was stated more than once at the last regular meeting of the board. It was first announced prior to audience communications and then two more times after that. I believe President Scheel said that someone suggested if there were designated topics, maybe more people would attend the community conversations and that's when she first announced tonight's meeting stating that the topic would be finances. So no committee meeting tonight. They are in compliance. |

I'm sure that they would love to have only the "rainbows and sunshine" squad in attendance. They don't seem to mind that LPS isn't reporting the student loss and the money associated with that loss. They are content with LPS miraculously finding piles of extra cash, post-LI, stashed in other funds and received from sources unknown to stakeholders pre-LI (the DTE settlement). |

Didn't they say they would announce the student population counts in early November? I keep expecting an Observer headline that says "LPS looses XXX." If they don't make the count public can it be asked for at the BOE meetings? When are we going to know just what this plan cost us in terms of students??? |

Liepa stated that enrollment this year was down 2.5%!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... But then OF COURSE he proceeded to try to soothe the wounds by citing other communities that also had enrollment decreases. Sir, many wrongs DO NOT MAKE A RIGHT! |
