What do the supporters think of the student count. Do they now believe that the BOE has to listen to its customers if it hopes to survive? |

What do supporters think? I can't speak for all, but I have to say I'm glad they decided to go elsewhere. Less complaining, less criminal activity (Taping classrooms without knowledge. It is against the law!), less unhappy people poisoning the school community, all resulting in a better school. By the way, look around the Metro area. Counts are down in MOST districts. People are leaving the state of Michigan because of the cuts in the auto industry and lack of employment, not the LI! |

Detroit is down due to the strike. Who else is down? and down by "2% or more" as Liepa was quoted? I read that some districts were up...Highland Park of all places! Charter school enrollment is also up indicating that many are unhappy with public schools. I also read that the idea of a mass exodus from Michigan isn't accurate, the population has actually risen recently. |

Wow, you really put your blinders on! 50 kids leave last year, nearly 400 leave this year, after LI announced. Your attitude is so pervasive in LPS, it is disturbing. If you don't like it, leave. You will get your wish, my two will be leaving next year. I never complain, I volunteer for everything, I am active in my community. Have a wonderful time trying to find funding. I am sorry, but I find your post disturbing. |

Detroit really has no bearing on us. The only thing it should have done was cause a rise in our enrollment. The telling numbers would be to see if Plymouth/Canton and Northville, and maybe Novi and South Lyon had significant gains. Even if they had losses, were they as large as they expected also factors in. If PCS and Northville had gains, you know where they came from. Does anyone have PCS and Northville numbers yet??? |

So I guess if everyone left then this would be the best school district in Michigan. |

Wow.....another nasty comment from a happy go lucky supporter. "Poisoning the school community?" Boy im glad my daughter doesnt have to go to school with your kids! Since we are not "believers" ....god knows how they would be treated. I mean look what they are learning from. Get off you high horse and realize that you my dear are no better than anyone else. You are on the same rung of the ladder as the rest of us....no matter what you may think. |

So much wrong here that I'm not even sure where to start: 1> In the state of Michigan the consent of only one party is required for a tape to be admissible. You have three options: Take my word for it, look it up for yourself, or continue to be a fountain of ignorance. 2> The primary goal of the LI was to provide short-term savings according to Liepa. The BOE was informed that a significant number of parents would withdraw their children from LPS if the plan went through. Enough people that it would effectively erase any savings that the LI hoped to achieve. The BOE went ahead with the plan and people left as promised. If nothing changes more people are sure to follow. 3> It’s foolish to attribute a drop this significant to loss of manufacturing jobs. The manufacturing jobs didn’t move to another state. Or do you actually believe people are following the jobs to Mexico and China? Perhaps you think people lost their jobs so they decided to spend a few extra thousand dollars on private school. 4> Apparently Lessard hasn’t cornered the market on stupid, inflammatory statements about the “bad people” causing problems in the district. There are two sides to this issue as far as I’m concerned. On the one side there are people that require supporting evidence, logical arguments, proven research, facts and statistics. The other side consists of either people who don’t mind being led around by their nose or people who are financially dependant on LPS. |

I can't believe you said no one follows jobs to Mexico or China. You obviously do not know anyone, but that doesn't mean it doesn;t happen. Our best friends, who lived in Livonia, sent 2 kids to Livonia schools, were forced to locate to El Paso, Texas to work in Mexico from a big Tier One automotive supplier. They moved in the summer. I am not trying to argue that it involves many of teh kids that left the school district. But we certainly don't know all teh easons. I am a CPA and believe me, I see many people being affected by the economy and forced to leave Michigan or the area. It seems the news just keeps getting worse. |

The economy did have an effect on the drop. It absolutely did. But Michigans economy has been has been very poor for a long time. We should have had the same losses last year as we did this year if it were just the economy. If are losses went from 50 to 180 I would buy that argument. But when you go from 50 to 400...I mean come on! Citizens for Livonias Future has documented proof of 180 that left because of the LI. It scares the hell out of me on how closely we are mirroring Holland. Why don't we stop the spin and start working on solutions before we end up with another 400 or 500 hundred loss next year. |

Unfortunatly all those people you are happy that left, also took over 8000. per child with them. That WILL effect YOUR childs education, like it or not. |

I heard the enrollment may be down due to extraterrestrial life from another planet.
Hundreds of families were abducted from Livonia
......it has nothing to do with the LI.....
 I agree Jimid, our district is doing the same thing as Holland. I believe Holland also made excuses for their enrollment drop......refusing to admit that the grade re-configuration had anything to do with it.... Livonia is on the same downward spiral and I'm not sure what they can do to reverse it. |
