Amom and plmask or any supporter for that matter--- For the argument sake, if we see student loss over or near 300 and the savings isn't there and the BOE has to make cuts---lets say they choose to cut the music and art down to 1 time per week---How will you feel then??? Can you honestly say that these mega schools are worth it?? I'm really just trying to see your side here. It almost seems like you could care less about the children who are not handling this well. Lets face it, not much has gone on at the 5/6 school my child attends to help with the transition. It is business as usual even though some of the children are having a hard time. |

I never said that bad things weren't happening (and for the record, I'm not a supporter) I just said that we cannot pick each other apart on this site. It serves no purpose. If you feel better venting your feelings, please don't do it at the expense of another person. Just as you are entitled to your feelings, others are entitled to theirs - even if they are the opposite of what you feel. Someone started this line asking for supporters to give their points of view. So someone did. I get frustrated with the lack of focus, what is really important here? Rehashing what has already occured or trying to move things in a new direction that will make our schools better. |

I agree CMIC. It doesn't matter if the LI is a great plan or not at this point. If it doesn't save the district money, it has failed. |

People are still very, very focused. They are all focused on their kids. They are commited to make some serious and real change in our educational system, and wont go away this time. |

Even IF the LI were the best thing that ever happened to the district (it is certainly FAR from that) it would be difficult if not impossible to ignore the lies told by the admin. and then bought by the inept BOE. I don't think that people can easily forget the tales of financial disaster and woe told by them and as soon as the LI is rolling the financial picture is all sunshine and rainbows? Quite suspicious and deceptive, don't you think? Someone should go back and gather all of the statements made pre-LI by Randy, Lisa, Sheila and so on. |

Just trying to understand---not picking apart anything. I guess it is all in how we read the posts.

You are right correct that some kids are struggling. I am hearing that there are teachers who are more concerned with getting their 6th graders ready for Frost when they are still struggling with the move to Johnson! |

That sounds like an issue that should be taken up with the teacher. |

This sounds like an aftershock of the LIe. |

Maybe. Although there is very little information from the tidbit reported. My point is that teachers should be focused on this year (it's still October) and not next year. |

cmic- I believe the posts are getting mixed up. You did not call another posters statements irrelevant, but someone else in the thread did and that is what I was referring to. |

I'm not picking apart anyone who says anything positive. I don't see what's so hard to understand about relevance. You can be happy about the nice weather we had today but if you want to give the credit to the weather man you can expect people to call you out. Increasing the amount of music classes may be a positive. I'll acknowledge that. Having a teacher that teaches instead of wasting weeks setting ground rules is a side effect. You lucked out. That old music teacher is boring the kids to death at some other school in Livonia now. I'm sure some kids are hating gym class right now. I'm not going to thank Dr. Liepa just because my kid loves gym class this year. It was a happy accident. It was not by design. See the difference? I believe your children are happy. I'm glad your kids are happy but that really isn't the issue. The LI wasn't about trying to make kids happy. |

According to Randy LIEpa, the LIE was all about the district saving $. The LIe caused many parents to put their kids elsewhere. The huge loss of students equates to a LOSS, NO SAVINGS. Therefore, the LIE is a huge failure. It was never about the kids, the parents, property values, community acceptance, etc. "FOR KIDS SAKE"...you've got to be off your rocker to believe that one! :ph43r: |
