Does anyone have any suggestions for a Washington D. C. trip. Our family would really love to go, but I can't seem to find reasonable accomodations. Any suggestions out there? |

Every Hotel in DC is EXPENSIVE... But it is a fun town with enough to do for a week... errr weeks! My only suggestion would be to take the Monument shuttle starting early one day. It takes you by all the monuments, you can get off at any you wish to see up close, and then get on another trolley coming behind the one you got off. That allows you to see everything and then spend more time at or go back to, the ones you wish to see up close. The mueseums are fantastic, the capitol and the office buildings are great too. The architecture is just unbelievable. Contact Debbie Stabenows office for information and maybe get passes into the Senate chamber from her. If going into Government buildings travel light and take all metal or foreign objects out first. Similar security to flying. But worth the experience. Just walking the halls of these buildings you see the old pictures from when they were built, official pictures of old Presidents on their steps... It is truly a great experience. The subway is safe and convenient to use... It just gets busy during morning and evening rush hours. But is way better than trying to drive and find parking everywhere. Many of the hotels are old and outdated even though expensive. Don't expect big pools and the like... it isn't Disney World. Contact Representative McCotter and Senator Stabenow prior to get passes from them to the sessions in the Senate and House of Representatives. |
