We are thinking about getting our kids swim lessons at the Rec Center. Has anyone done that for their kids? And if so....how was it?

Our children did swim lessons at the Rec Center when they were 3,4 and 5. We also utilized their summer program which uses outdoor pools in the community. Both were good programs.

We have done 2 sessions. They have nice small class sizes and my kids loved it.

We also have used both the outdoor and indoor program. I liked the outdoor better because it is 8 day in a 2 week period so I think the younger ones get more comfortable. It is also quieter than the indoor pools which gets very loud and can be distracting for some kids. You do have to depend on the weather though.

We did last year and they were awesome! We will do it again this summer.

We took lessons at the Rec Center too. Great classes, and you don't have to worry about the weather.

I've had my daughter in swim classes that meet once a week and then classes that meet 2 weeks, consecutively. The classes that meet 2 weeks straight by far have the most noticable improvement.

We have always taken ours to the Swim lessons put on at the Livonia High Schools. They have an adult instructor so it cuts out the lack of serious supervision that I have witnessed in some programs with high school kid teachers. Also they are inside, that was a key to me, not to be held hostage by the weather.
