I have 2 daughters who attend Bunny Sanfords Dance Studio on Newburgh and Ann Arbor Trail. At my youngest's class this morning we parents were informed that LPS has gone back on their contract with Ms. Bunny's for our June Dance Recital. We always have it at the Churchill Auditorium and now they are going to start renovations on the auditorium 3 weeks prior to when the dance recital was supposed to be held. They just informed the dance studio that they will not wait until after the prior scheduled events to start the renovations. So, as of now, we do not have a place to hold the recitals. Just another show from LPS that they do NOT care about the community. From what I was told this morning they've been calling all around to find a place that can accomodate us (the auditorium needs to hold at least 800 people) -- either they're too small or are already booked. If anybody has any good ideas I would appreciate them. We were supposed to have 3 shows - One Friday night, one Saturday afternoon and one Saturday night. So, needless to say, this is affecting a lot of dance students and families. I just can't believe yet another thing that is affected. It's just non-stop.

Another great P. R. move! Maybe your school can try Canton Public Schools.

Garden City H.S. hosts recitals. Another thought, Cherryhill Village Theater in Canton.

Sorry this has happened. What about Franklin or Stevenson, I am guessing those were already checked into.

I'll check on the Cherryhill Village Theatre - Thank you :-).

Franklin and Stevenson's auditoriums are too small :-(

You can try Mercy High's Comstock Auditorium (I think that's what it's called); Farmington Hills.

Mercy doesn't have air condition.

We used to hold ours at West Bloomfield High School. Can't remember if it has air conditioning or not. It was years ago that we held them there.

I love posting on this topic....so my daughter is going to be in that recital and I found out from Bunny today that it is going to be at Clarenceville on the 18th and 19th one week ahead of the original date at Churchill.(Thank you Clarenceville Schools) It's ironic because we scheduled our whole vacation around this darn recital when Livonia changed the dates the first time because of the renovations or whatever. I guess we will have to go with the flow with this too.

That's cool if it's at Clarenceville. I really thought I was told this morning that they had said no, but if it's there then it's all good. I was so bummed that it was messed up. This will be the first recital for my youngest and we've been looking forward to it. The only bummer is that the week before is Father's Day weekend and we're usually out of town. Ugh, eh? :)

We have just begun to fight!
It's too bad LPS screwed up your schedules...I hope this does not become a trend, but it appears as though it has already started to develop as such. Good luck with the recitals!

I can sympathize with changing schedules. It is never fun...!
I do think that the best time to do any renovations, etc... is when kids are out of school. It is definitely an inconvenience though.

This is a SOURCE OF REVENUE for the district. I know Bunny Sanford pays a nice sum to the district for usage of the facility and the last two recitals I went to at Churchill were remarkable. Livonia's loss is Clarenceville's gain. I think it will be a great Father's Day weekend in my case. I guess in reality, this is another symptom of mismanagement, in that the initial dates that Bunny Sanford was told were switched to the June 24, 25 weekend (the latest they've done) , and now switched again in that they can't use the place, what gives? We are talking hundreds of dancers, 3 sold out shows, and many family plans that have been made. Who handles the P.R. for the district, because I bet you anything, they could have worked out something to accomodate the LOCAL dance studio, that PAYS to use the facility.
