I think all parents who are taking their children out of LPS because of the LI should attend the next BOE meeting and show your reciepts like the woman did last night. Show them this is reality. Let them see exactly what they are losing under this ugly plan. |

If anyone has enrolled their kids in private schools, and would like the board to know, but you may be a little nervous about speaking in front of them. Please pm me, I will gladly step up, and let them know of more kids leaving, as I did this past Monday. Colleen |

Of course I understand that not everyone can afford private school, and I will be sacrificing some things to place my 2 kids @ St. Genevieve, but it is something I have to do. Again, I am not going to subject my daughter to this ill conceived plan. My post asking for people to pm me is to try to do all I can to STOP this plan from going forward. I'm sorry if my post has offended anyone, just trying to do what I can. Colleen |

I think they understand that, but are just asking for people to step up so they can prove to the boe that kids ARE leaving LPS. Maybe not by the thousands, by they are leaving. We will be staying in LPS as well, MominWestland No offense taken. I understand what you are doing and "You go girl"   |

Thanks for the suport and I'm glad our family is not the only one staying!
My experience with LPS has outweighed my experience with private schools greatly. I just get tired of hearing about supposedly all the families pulling out of Livonia schools. It makes me feel I'm doing my children a disservice because we're staying in LPS. Especially when my heart tells me I'm doing what is best for my children by staying in LPS. I firmly believe no matter what happens my children will get a great education attending Livonia Public Schools. |

One important thing to remember. It only takes a net loss of 180 kids to wipe out any savings the Legacy Initiative may bring. And if that happens, they will be coming after your school next. Remember Mrs. Scheel..." I would rather close schools than cut jobs". |

Im probably staying though I am still kicking around home schooling as I have a good friend who is home schooling her 3 children, who are currently attending LPS. My daughter wants to be with her friends. Since she will be in 6th grade I may bite the bullet and suffer through a year. Though Holmes will continue to be overcrowded when she gets there as well. If this Legacy nightmare is not stopped I would add. |

We have had no experience with private schools, so I cannot comment on that, but there ARE people leaving LPS because of the LI. And the LI is the only reason they are leaving. We just cannot do it. But remember, just because we are staying does NOT mean we have given up the fight against this outrageous plan. Nope, we are not done fighting

We have just begun to fight!

Nobody should have any doubts about the quality of the education in LPS...with or without the LI. What is in question is the methods and actions of the administration and the board. |

I totall agree with the above quote!!! Because I'm a working mom I cannot home school my children. Plus I don't think I could do what those LPS teachers do. They're awsome! My children and I would drive each other crazy if we we're home together every day. Plus my kids are really excited about their new school, Garfield. Which by the way has gotten a bad rap previously... The principle and teacher leader are great and have a lot of enthusiam. We've done a few visits and were extemely impressed. Hopefully the Garfield reputation will change soon. |

Hey, I'm also curious how many people are considering leavinig the district period? I went out to two builders sites in South Lyon and they stated that they had quite a few clients that where looking and buying because of the school issue. The one sales person said to me "what a shame the the district would do that to people". Does anyone have any feed back. People moving will impact the district also. |
