The BOE and the committe that came up with this grandious Legacy Initiative thoght they had covered all the bases. 1st Strike] Swing and a miss. Thought they could save more money w/ the LI than other plans (doesn't make sense as they chose not to even look at others). The BOE was just plain wrong in what the said the LI costs would be. The truth of the LI costs are becoming clear to see. 2nd Strike] Swing and a miss. Thought they could save more teacher, secretary and custodian jobs than other plans (doesn't make sense as they chose not to even look at others). ((It's logical closing two elem schools while not losing students from LPS now and over subsequent years will most certainly save more teacher, secretary and custodian jobs - and not force the teachers so about)) 3rd Strike] Swing and a miss - you're out! Thought they (BOE) could save their jobs by kowtowing to their constituency and not work with the Livonia citizen to come up with the best plan for everybody, including the teachers. It's ironic their mistakes are harming also the teachers more than other plans would. The people they seem so beholden to should ditch this monumental LI mistake and start a new game that will most certainly help them more, as well as the children, parents and community. |

I agree. If the LI was supposed to save the most jobs, it will soon backfire. If enough students leave the district because of this plan, the teachers will be affected due to declining enrollment. I guess the administrators will be safe---unless they have to close another school. Also, LPS may not attract new students to the district, which will also contribute to declining enrollment. Sounds like their prediction of declining enrollment will soon become a reality. |
