IF you're on the CHS e mailing list, you should have received it Friday morning in your email. If you're not the the emailing it's probably a good idea you enroll. Reminders of days off, half days, conferences, updates etc. are sent to your email address, no addresses are viewed by other parents or students. |

Q: What does 1% of the budget represent? A: One percent is the equivalent of approximately $1.6 million. The plan is expected to save between $1.5 and $2.1 million. From a program perspective, $1.6 million in our budget is equivalent to any one of the following items: ƒ¤ a reduction of 27 classroom teachers, which would cause increases in class size and elimination or reduction of elective choices in secondary schools; ƒ¤ the elimination of all elementary and middle school library/media specialists; ƒ¤ the elimination of the entire budget for general education paraprofessionals in all elementary and secondary schools; ƒ¤ the elimination of the entire budget for athletic and extra curricular activities; ƒ¤ the reduction of transportation for our general education students by one-third; ƒ¤ the elimination of the entire budget for elementary and secondary teaching supplies, office supplies, textbooks, new & replacement equipment, library books and materials, and library on-line services. _________________________________________________________________ Is this a joke (area in bold)? If 1% of the budget represents a reduction of transportation by 33%, then why are they increasing transportation under the LI? Isn't the increase in transportation the same as the savings from the LI?     |

The only reason I received it is because I signed up to be on the Frost mailing list. If I hadn't signed up, I wouldn't have received it. I have a student in Frost and Washington and nothing was sent home. It seems to me the district should have sent a hard copy home with every student, not just those who signed up to be on a distribution list. If Jay Young is in charge of this, I shouldn't be surprised at the lack of planning that went into getting this into the hands of all parents. This is the man who told me on the phone that I should support ESL at our elementary school becasue it would be a good opportunity for my son to learn Oragami!!! |

As I mentioned earlier, this is totally odd. I know that every child at our school went home with the letter. Is this a problem with the staff at individual schools? Are some schools better at providing info than others? There is absolutely NO reason why every child, especially those in elementary schools, shouldn't be given every piece of district mail available. If my child attended one of the schools that didn't send it home, I would be questioning the office staff. Was it a decision made by the principal, secretary, clerk, teachers? It is just nuts that some students would come home with this stuff and others don't. I can't say it is the BOE fault, but there should be some accountability by the school staff. Has anyone asked at their child's school? |

I just called the secretary at Washington and she said she delayed sending them out so that her office helper could have something to do today. She said they are being sent home either today or tomorrow. |

Isn't that just nice, job security at it's finest! LOL Sorry, I am just trying to make light of something that I think is inappropriate. If the administration has something they want sent home to the parents, then darn it, it should go home. Not when the secretary thinks it works for her and the clerk, but when the administration sends it out. I am sorry to all of the families that deal with this type of bureacratic bologna on a daily basis. Parents shouldn't have to find out about things via converstations and such on forums, but from the school they send their child to on a daily basis. |
