A recent invite for Trans Team members has happened--but not in the open. This type of continuing "secrect" meeting stuff is not productive or inclusive. Why are only a select few invited? What's the agenda? Anyone know more? AK |

A member of the Trans Team told me they were invited. Don't want to name names. Just looking for more info about it. My point is: Why does the BOE continue to do this secrecy stuff? Why not invite the community? We all want to know what's going on. I know no more than that. I don't think even the attendees are sure what's up. AK |

Let's not go jumping to conclusions just because Demo Committee members were invited to a meeting. Ask the person who was invited to clarify what the invitation is for before you start rumblings about secrecy. We--the community--cannot be expected to be invited to every single meeting, so let's not start a rumor that the BOE is still being secretive............... |

I think you might be talking about a workshop with the Wayne RESPA coordinator who is assisting with the transition. Each member of the district transition team was asked to come to this workshop with one person from their school to see if it may be worth arranging meetings for all parents. It is sort of a pilot workshop. It is not a secret meeting and it is part of the transition meetings. Hope this clears it up. It is next Tuesday evening. |

We have just begun to fight!

A simple explantation of the purpose, reason, and invitees in the DTT newsletter, or those twice weekly transition newsletters coming home with the kids would help everyone feel more comfortable considering what has transpired so far. |

It is a workshop to deal with change and transitions. No specfic discussions about the LI issues. |

Why not make it clear what's up? Isn't everyone concerned about these issues? Why does it seem that the BOE only informs "everyone" when it suits their needs? That is what I am talking about. Why didn't the BOE send out mass mailings before LI was introduced--because it suited the BOE's concept of "spoon-feeding" the public and trying to control reaction. For example, the update on the Cooper issue (just mailed out) was sent only to Cooper-bound parents (that's my understanding). Everyone is involved in every issue regarding LI--and, transitions are a huge LI topic. Why create a committee to handle it district-wide if it does not affect everyone? As for inviting everyone--if it has to do w/Transitioning--I would think everyone would want to know. Why send home a weekly Transition update if it does not involve everyone? Seems like more of the same to me. AK |

Boy, you sure blowing things are of proportion. It is a pilot workshop. They will eventually be offering it to as many parents who want to be involved. They are only offering this one to District transition team parents and one guest to help tweak it and then it will be offered. I hope your school is also having school transition meetings because much of what is discussed at the DTT meetings comes from the school transition teams. Also at the school transition meetings you can bring up the fact that you want a workshop for all the parents in your school. I think the idea is to let each school decide what the need. As different schools have different concerns and issues. Our school has not seemed to interested in taking this kind of workshop. I think everybody deals with changes differently and this what the workshop will try to address. |

I agree that we are blowing this out of proportion. I realize we now all have trust issues and I realize we are all analyzing what's going on to make sure it's all above board and that we are informed every step of the way. But crying conspiracy every time a meeting is scheduled is a bit ridiculous. So you want the entire community to be invited to a workshop that hasn't even been checked out yet? Are we going to question every move the DTT makes or are we going to let them do their jobs?? |

I'm sorry to say that the District created these issues with trust. So, I think they will have a long road to journey to over come the community not trusting them. I hope they realize this! |

I agree that they created the distrust. I agree we should be diligent in keeping our eye on them. But when are we going to allow them to attempt to redeem themselves? Posting that the DTT is doing something secretive 5 minutes after they invite their team to a meeting seems irresponsible. |

They could redeem themselves by dropping the LI! This would be a start. |
