Hullparent.......when my mind is roaming about all the reasons for the specific choices for school closings the construction of NEW schools has also been one of my thoughts although I have never heard anyone state that. My bet had been construction in the NW part of Livonia since there will be no elementary schools beginning next year. 5 Mile does make since using current BOE logic (if that isn't an oxymoron) because of its central location. Hmmmm, hard not to think cover-ups when there is such current lack of communication and past practices when it comes to school property. |

5th Grade

There are only 31 classrooms there now. They will need 36. 18 - 5th and 18 - 6th with 25 kids per class. I'd like to see that money shifted to "improve" an additional 5-6 school, Tyler for instance. Rework the boundaries, reduce bussing and not distroy the concept of our existing neighborhood schools. |

I asked Mr. Bailey a couple of months ago on the forum why the Bryant property was not being sold. His reply was LPS may want to keep this for a future mega high school (maybe 10 years down the road) because it is centrally located in Livonia. |

I think this is a completely irresponsible post. C'mon! I'm tired of hearing that the BOE "lies" just to turn around and see opposers fabricating rumors to stir people up. |

anothermom, I actually did ask Mr. Bailey this question several moths ago on the forum when he was posting. That was his reply. If you dig back far enough, it can be found. |

I remember it. My memory is that he gave it as an example of a possible future use for that property. Will look for it and copy. |

Thank you. I have made so many posts, but I can remember that one. It was probably made in December. |

I don't think that is a rumor either. I have heard "dreaming" concepts from different people as well... It is ok to have a vision. How is that a rumor? |

I was in the presence when someone asked Mr. Bailey that question and that is exactly what he said. Not a rumor. |

TAB Posted: Dec 11 2005, 02:09 PM Principal Group: Members Posts: 69 Member No.: 98 Joined: 8-November 05 Warn: (0%) Hi Momofthree.....you ask how many have responded to the possibility of moving....I think that once before I stated that if there is 1, that's 1 too many..... but I can say that with all of the e-mails I have received, approx. 30-50 have said that moving could be a reality....now, many of these families "could" have multiple siblings so the sheer thought of that many literally frightened me to death....once again I could say that these might be considered threats but as I mentioned I'm not a gambling man.....I wasn't going to take any chances. Once again these are estimates and actual numbers are not possible as I didn't save the many e-mails I have received! To Hullparent.....I'm the newbie on the board and there is no reason why we can't sell property.....nothing says we can't but I have learned that a quick sell of property is not the solution to our financial crisis. Whereas it might bring in some badly needed $$$ for a short term fix,we cannot continue to answer our issues by selling off property. Just in the last 3 months we sold a chunk of property to a developer who in turn with a large sum of money, also gave us a few lots (that will be used to continue our Livonia Career Technical Center Building Trades Dept) for home construction for the next few years. At this point, I don't know our total inventory of properties available but in the coming months before the next round of budget talks come, I will be more informed as to what we have and I will inquire as to possible future use. 2 yrs. ago when I ran for office, I was questioned by the O & E newspapers about land. I know we own quite a bit but I also need to look to the future. As far as I'm concerned the Bryant property is one of the most valuable...while it could certainly bring in needed revenue in single family housing with the hope of additional students into the district. I believe that this is the single most centrally located piece of real estate large enough to accomodate even a new High School.......I'm just thinking off the cuff here but what if declining enrollments continues for the next 10-20 years.......Could this not be used for a New "SUPER high school and the others closed? Wild idea...just a thought but even maybe 1 large 7-8 school. I'm "NOT" recommending we do this but the possibilities are endless here......obviously much discussion needs to come with our parents....really open discussion and some guidance from district personnel and together we make an informed decision together....sounds like a unique idea huh? In any case, property is a commodity that we must consider when studying increased revenue. Tom Found it here: http://s14.invisionfree.com/Hull_Neighbors...p?showtopic=370 |

Just what we need more mega schools. Just our luck, it will happen when our kids become high school age. Maybe by then they will have read the real research. I doubt it though. These people @ LPS may be "book smart", but when it comes to common sense they just don't seem to have any. |

Ok, I am not going crazy, my post was in that thread. Maybe I didn't ask the exact question, but I knew we were questioning the Bryant Property at the time. |
