I read Jimid's quote to mean parents are not enrolling kids in LPS and instead are

home schooling, moving out of Livonia, enrolling them at one of the many many parochial schools

The only ones doing any "gambling with the kids" is you know who. I wonder if a permit is need to legalize gambling?? The odds and stakes are TOO high!

We have started house hunting in Plymouth. Our son is starting 6th grade this fall and will, in my opinion, be one of the groups hardest hit by this change because this upcoming 6th grade grade class will have to transition 3x in the next four years. Randy agreed with me when I called him about my concern and said the kids starting 4th grade in 06-07 and 6th grade in 06/07 will have the hardest transitions facing them. Why do this if you know you're setting up two huge groups of children for such a difficult time ahead???? How are you meeting the needs of these kids by creating this extra tier, then identifying them as the group that will have the hardest transitions as they roll this out? He justified it by saying it was just because they were the students who were the 1st ones starting the program. I guess that makes it all okay. It's like tossing these kids to the wind, saying just one group of kids...not a biggie...they can take the hit for the greater good of the LI.

This is so easy for me to answer ........to me it's the BOE and LPS who are gambling with our kids and yes you are right about one thing the stakes are to high and there for as a parent I will home school my child. This way I can keep my child out of the mess they will make with this thing called the LI.

I will once again ask why is it when the the people who do not go along with the LI you all seem to feel we are hurting our kids ? Maybe I as his/her parent know what harm this can cause my child. I think you need to stick to being the parent of your kids and stop telling me what is best for mine.

I have 4 kids total ... 3 are currently student in the LPS ... we WILL be pulling all 3 that are currently in LPS and the youngest an incoming Kindergartener for the 06/07 school year ... we are looking to move out of Livonia all together but in the mean time will be looking at enrolling my kids in the Claranceville School District ... they are a school of choice.

I have 2 neighbors who are moving out and taking a loss on their homes just to get out (if a lot of people do that our property values will be coming down) ... between those 2 homes there will be 7 kids NOT in the LPS next year. Add in mine and there will be 11 NOT going just on my 10 house block ... a few other are aslo considering taking their kids out.

Just a quick note to everyone. Our Lady of Loretto is holding a Open House on March 19th, from 12:00 to 3:00. I know they still have room for new students. They are located at Six Mile and Beech Day in Redford. Not a bad drive from Livonia.
