You are all so quick to calucate how much money will be lost when you pull you kids out of LPS, but has anyone checked stats on what is the normal gain/loss of students from year to year, I have no clue, but it just seems like a good stat to have as a comparison.......how many leave LPS from 1 school year to the next, and also how many come in.........just a thought. |

These figures are based on families transfering from LPS or home schooling. No other items were calculated with these findings. Sorry. The people from the schools were aware of the issues at hand. |

Add one more to that list. I will not put my 1st grader through this program. We will move if possible, and if not, it will be St Johns Lutheran, or Northville Christian. My younger one won't be going either in 2 years when he reaches Kinder.age |

Kids come and go every year, but the people who say they are taking their kids out of LPS most likely would have been in LPS next year, if not for the LI. |

Yes, good point. But I am still curious if LPS will see a Net Loss, or depending on the year, COULD it be close to average?? In which case, they end up not losing as much as it appears?? Just a thought, I have no numbers or hard data to back that up.....just me thinking out loud. |

I think some are missing the point here. Whatever the average may be for the past years is one figure. How many will leave LPS because they do not want their children to be a part of the Legacy, is a completely different and MUCH larger number. |

You can find this information by visiting LPS's website. Fourth tab on the left,"District information", then click Finance, scroll down near the bottom of the page. There you will see a link to the Fourth Friday Student Count. You can view the INCREASED enrollment of 1,172 students over the past 10years! WOW! Why do we keep hearing about the shrinking and dwindling enrollments? More inaccurate information being spread? |

There was a debate someplace (here or the other site) about people who would gamble with their children and take them out of LPS and enroll them in private schools "just to make a point". Of course this was hotly denied. Then I read this statement and it all seemed to ring true. So the merits of parocial schools are just "political spin"? (Your words, not mine.) I'm sure you just posted quickly and really meant that you have researched and are certain that the program offered to children in parochial schools is superior to the programs offered in LPS? |

I have two sons at Churchill, they have received a fine education at LPS, and I am at least now not aware of any "unmet needs" they had in 5/6 grades. The oldest one is a senior and will be attending CMU this fall. As I said before my youngest two are enrolled at St. Gens for the next school year, and I didn't make this decision easily. It will be a hardship for us to pay all this tuition, but I know after seeing my oldest two transition into Middle and High school that adding two more transitions for my younger two is not in their best interest. St. Gens does take the MEAP (so they can get the scholarship money) and the students there do quite well. They also participate in lots of activities (like the Mathcounts competition) that currently the only other students in Livonia participate in are from Webster or Frost. I would not be sending them there if the Legacy Initiative was not moving forward therefore whatever else is said about how many students would not have attended anyway my childrens removal from LPS is a direct result of the L.I. |

I'm not sure I understand how you got from Jimid's quote to the idea that people are pulling their kids out of LPS just to make a point. Can you explain your reasoning? |
