The issue is that we have an LPS Administrator who apparently has lied. Two members now of the District Transition Team have confirmed that the team had no input into start times, only into the method of communication. Here again is the quote from the Livonia Observer, with lies bolded:

"Donna McDowell, coordinator of community and business partnerships for the district, said the District Transition Team aimed to maintain similar start and end times as they have this year. The biggest change involves staggered start times between the upper and lower elementary schools, which remain within 15 minutes of the current schedule....

...McDowell said the transition team took into consideration parents' requests to be able to drive their children to both upper and lower buildings, should they choose."

I think it is terrible that an employee of LPS would lie to parents and the media about this. Don't you?

20 minutes to drop off your child at Johnson and then try to get to Kennedy on time is a joke anyway. If you have any children at the Middle or High school levels you would know how congested the traffic is around these schools and how chaotic the parking lots are at drop off and pick up times. This is just another example of the BOE trying to implement this plan on the fly. No rhyme or reason here, no real plan in place, they are just making this up as they go along.

That's fine, but why would Ms. McDowell indicate to the press that the team had input at all if they didn't?

So fingers would not point at the administration when something fails or people have issues with the decisions being made

True leaders stand up and take responsibility for their decisions. Regardless of your opinion of the LI, the people who have volunteered their time to work on the District Transition Team do not deserve to have fingers pointed at them for decisions made by LPS administrators without their input.
