Be careful, I have heard, from a person that sits on one of these appeals boards, that if you come in saying your assessed value is too high and they determine that it is really too low... your assessed value will be increased even though you went in for a decrease! Like was mentioned your assessed value times two is what they are saying your house is worth... In my case the assessed value went up less than the SEV which is increased according to the percentage factor they list for inflation. So they are admitting to me that my home value did not even increase as much as inflation... and with all the homes for sale in my two blocks I can understand why! |

Your best bet is to do your resaerch first. Look at asles of similar homes in your neighborhood to see what they are selling for. If that is higher or the same as your assessed value...no need to appeal. If it is lower, you've got a good case. you can get the infor right at the assessors office. Just ask to see the records. |
