Me3D, I don't know how we go about term limits, something that needs to be explored though. About Cooper.....I really have lost a lot of faith in the BOE, so honesly, I'm not too sure. The thing is they are going to put all this money into Cooper and get it ready for a 5/6, then a private company who buys the old Cooper site will begin building. Our children will be in school, I ask you what happens if air quality monitors start to show high levels of toxins in the air and our children are in class? How fast can LPS get our children out of the school before it's too late? Is this a risk you would be willing to take? Not me. |

no that is not a risk I'm willing to take. But I do believe that there will be many test before that site is even touched. So as of right now I'm not too concerned. Once the land has gotten the all clear, then that is when we need to jump on the wagon and start investigating all the reports. I will go back to CFLF web site and reread (is that a word??) about Cooper. Thanks |

I still don't understand (please be patient with me) that why no one has stepped up before now? If this is such a huge issue, why did't anyone stand up in 1991 ( I think that is when the school closed.) I did not grow up in this area, but I did live less than a mile from that site for a few years. And it was not a big concern to anyone then. I am not dismissing any of the toxins that were found there. But I do believe that the state, the city of Westland, and the city of LIvonia should be responsible too, not just the BOE. |

This is because neighborhhoods that were never slated to attend Cooper will do so now, because of the new boundary changes under the LI. Before the LI, these neighborhoods wouldn't have needed to know ANYTHING about Cooper - because they would have gone to other schools within their attendace boundaries. The history of Cooper is STILL not known completely to many people. We cannot blame people that are just now being forced to attend Cooper, for being VERY concerned for their children. People who currently have students attending Cooper should be concerned with the fact that tests have recently been done on the old Cooper site, but we've not seen/ heard anything stating that the current tests have proven the site safe. Even so, these tests would only be core samples. If and when excavation/ construction on the old site starts, there will be no telling what kinds of airborne toxins could be around. That is a chance that many of us are not willing to take. As for waiting until the site is "all clear" to start protesting it's development, is like trying to put out a fire after it has already consumed the house. |

thought there was some one already trying to get the go ahead to build on that property. A friends brother owns property in that area and is hoping his property is with in the limits of what the devolper is wanting. So I guess I would start asking questions now. |
