I have had many complaints lately about the forum getting a bit too nasty. I tend to agree. Please, treat people as you would like to be treated. Do not post peoples names (with the exception of public officials) on the site unless they say it is OK. Don't post unflattering pictures of board members. As much as some would like to make them seem like Nazi Storm troopers, guess what? They are not. They are human beings just like you and I. A good heated discussion is a good thing, JUST DO NOT GET PERSONAL, OR IT WILL BE DELETED. I know this is all very frustrating no matter what side you are on. If you feel angry, just shut it down for a bit. One thing to remember...no matter what happens this is going to be a LONG process. So getting away from it for a week, or a few days isn't going to change anything. You will see things much clearer when you come back. Let’s all take a "chill pill" and make sure the forum stays constructive! Thanks! |

I just got off the phone with another one of my friends that said she is so upset with this website and the talk of privatizing, outsourcing and cutting teacher pay and benefits that she has quit the site and is thinking of taking her sign down and is not sure who she is going to cast her vote for. She is really upset. I hope we don't lose a lot of people. I think that most people just want to stop this Initiative but unfortunately people are starting to get upset. I can see where Jimid's reminder may help to keep people supporting the cause. |

Let your friend know that a few people throwing ideas around does not mean that any of it will happen. She should also know that this site is very seperate from CFLF, so the great variety of opinions here are not reflective of that group...just individual ideas and opinions. This forum also has nothing to do with the candidates, King or Morgan. Neither has posted here as far as I know. I think the talk is healthy as long as it is respectful. We all have the same goal. Stop the LI. What happens after that is not clear, but we will all be able to influence it by voting in the next BOE and continuing to voice our opinions. The next BOE will undoubtedly be more responsive to the input of the citizens of Livonia and Westland. |

I just wanted to post a comment I received today because I thought it was good to hear, yet I do agree with you. I do believe that people believe that CFLF are the people on this forum because it is advertised on their webpage.

I wish it could be linked on the LPS and Livonia websites also. I really believe this kind of communication can help our entire community. Please everyone, feel free to use it for all of our communities concerns. And use the neighborhood forums to get to know your neighbors. Use them for a neighborhood watch. Anything you want. You don't have to discuss the Legacy Initiative, that is obviously the hot topic right now. This will be here long after that is over. |

I agree, we are losing people everyday because of the issue cmic mentions. It's beginning to divide our group, which of course is what the BOE would like. |

I wonder if there shouldn't be a disclaimer on the first page emphasizing that this site and CFLF are NOT the run by the same group. I have been reading here since almost the very beginning and not until this past week when I read a few posts specifically stating the differences, I also assumed that there was more of a connection between the two websites. |

The only connection is that they have a link to this on their website. LPS can do that to if they like. Take a look at my screen name and notice that I am member #1. Then take a look at the date this forum was started. It was only little ole Hullneighbors.com talking about this back then. I don't lie to you and say I am neutral, I am not. I oppose the LI. But I am always willing to listen. |

Jimid, thanks for this post. I tend to agree with cmic's comment... I have not been to this forum in weeks as I was tired of reading senseless arguments, name calling, non-factual accusations, etc. I think one of the reasons the LI opposers are labeled as 'whining parents' and 'dividers of the community' is because of the majority of posts on this forum! As much as you want to say it is a community website to discuss ALL community issues - it has become the CFLF support website. And, as outsiders venture here to get an understanding of why we're fighting the LI, all they see is a bunch of senseless posts, countless ramblings and in-fighting!! I think we do ourselves a dis-service with some of the crap we post on this forum - we tarnish the image of the CFLF board that have worked tirelessly to defeat this initiative. If you want to be treated professionally, you have to conduct yourself that way. Otherwise, you are just hurting the CFLF cause! |

Citizens for Livonia's Future and hullneighbors.com aka livonianeighbors.com are NOT associated in any way. There is a link on the CFLF website to this forum, only as a means to allow people to be directed to this forum to communicate and express their ideas regarding the LI. The link on CFLF does NOT say, click here to view OUR forum, or the CFLF forum - please do not confuse the two sites. Please also note that the CFLF website has links to the LPS website and Demographics Committees web page - but that does not mean that we are connected in any way to them. CFLF webmaster |

You mean we have to post flattering ones? But seriously, in many ways a picture really is worth a thousand words. Is it disrespectfull to show Mr. Lassard shaking his finger at a parent as if he was talking to a small child? Or does it serve the purpose of illistrating the disrespectfull way in which they treat the public. Does it not serve to show those who can't get down to a meeting, just what we have to deal with? Certinly, no one should be shouting down other people posting, espcially those being nasty themselves. It's what they want, and frankly you can't change hearts and minds by yelling. I hold out hope that those who come to attack us will leave questioning thier own position. The board members themselves, are a slightly different story. When someone chooses to be ridiculous, should they not be held up to ridicule? Especially when they are causing great harm in the process? What should be more upsetting, being a public official who sneers at everyone who disagrees with him, or seeing a picture of yourself doing it? Ah well, brevity is the sole of wit, and this post is plain too long. Sorry all ;). |
