One post is not necessarily reflective of what everyone here thinks. Please do not assume that we are all thinking exactly the same way. Many of us are trying very hard to keep our children out of this. |

We have just begun to fight!
|
We speak to our children about the LI only at home, and we tell them to keep the discussion about it only at home. For our children we do not feel the need for them to get involved, and have asked them to politely and respectfully explain why they do not discuss the LI in school, at play, or any other place. As a family we keep it at home. As a Citizen I am exercising my legal rights throughout the district. |

Can no one answer the question about who to write the letters to... We need to get folks writing these! Steve? |

Our kids would not write a letter. We just explain to them that we still don't know for certain what is going to happen next year, but no matter what, we will be together as a family. I really, really wish the district would show us the same respect. All of the transition activities are confusing for the kids, and they simply tell our children it is going to happen. And the chances are it will not. If we are talking about using our kids, you be the judge who is doing that. |

I do not think Steve posts here. I don't remember the issue about letters myself, but you might want to email CFLF. Visit their website at CFLF |

About the letters. I don't know either. I would say go ahead and write it. I will see if I can find out and post something Monday. |

You are so right Jimid. we are also suppose to QUIETLY go along with what ever the wonderful Wizards of Oz decide is best for our kids. How could mere parents know whats best for them. We don't have the smoke and mirrors like they do. Or the Magic ball. |

Never mind I guess it's not as important as I thought... If all the anonymous folks want to keep hiding I'll forget trying to help... |

I would hope that one would have the integrity to NOT have their children write letters. |

Oh please! That goes WITHOUT saying. I think that the person that posted that had much older children that are old enough to process and handle what is going on and not elementary aged. And, in that case, I say... use it as a teaching moment and teach your child how to be a responsible citizen. |

Oh please...and I ask you, how is one to know how old a poster's child(ren) is/are? I am aware that many of you know each other personally and know one another's screen name. Excuse me! I believe that this is a topic to be addressed by adults - not children. There have been letters in the Observer written by high school students - both pro and con. If they chose to write a letter on their own accord - great! What responsible citizens and exercising their rights. However, an elementary child would write the words of his/her parents. ...cmic, sorry that pushed a button with you! |

I accept your apology. I think it is good that you acknowledged that you don't know the posters on this board. It is good for all to realize that the people here love and care for their children and will do the right thing for them. We try very hard to protect our children from all of this as well as all of the legacy stuff. So, to think we would drag our children into this would be insulting to many of us on this board. Our children are the reason we are fighting. But, as I said, I do accept your apology and I will put it to a rest. |

Sorry everyone for starting a word war. I didn't mean to drag our kids into any issues. I would never use my child as a wedge. I do not speak around her about my feelings with the LI. She does know that I"m trying to fight to stop the school closings, but nothing more. I didn't clearly express myself with my postings. I thought that maybe she could write the Judge and ask not to close her school. Nothing more, nothing less. So anyone who would like to come to verbal blows go for it. Sometimes I really just want to pack it in and move. Is this really worth all the work and with that I say HECK YES!! If anything I'm teaching my kids to fight for their beliefs. |
