B]Where is the Coolidge support? [/B]

People may not be speaking at Coolidge, but there is support for the cause.

*****

Where is the support? No liaison, 3 volunteers for the entire Coolidge territory. Come on people, if you want to support the cause, get involved NOW!!

Contact lpsproposalsrbad@sbcglobal.net and sign up to be a volunteer. CFLF has been begging Coolidge to help and are still begging.

I am in the Tyler area (merging with Coolidge) and I'm not feeling very confident about the Coolidge families taking the LI and swallowing it instead of FIGHTING FOR OUR KIDS! Is the whole school run with this lack of parental involvement?

Get some lawn signs and some petitions and saturate the Coolidge territory - that is how you show support!!

Just because there isn't involvement with your concerns doesn't mean there isn't parent involvement at Coolidge.

You can't walk down the hall of that school with out tripping over parent volunteers. In the classroom, making copies for teachers, helping in the LMC, hanging artwork in the halls, ELVs you name it, parents help with it at Coolidge.

While it is a sad thing that your school was chosen over another to close, it is not very nice to bash the other school because of it.

My wife and I volunteered to be liasons yesterday. Waiting to hear back if they are still needed.

I never implied that there was no parental involvement at Tyler. I simply was correcting what was said about parental involvement at Coolidge. I'm sorry if you assumed that is what I was saying, but it is not at all what I meant.

I know..It is hard sometimes to see expression through words..I think at all of our schools we have really good parents who care, not just drop them off and go so to speak. At one of our functions it would be neat to introduce ourselves. Hi, I'm so and so aka cat and so on. I have alot of respect for those who have put so much effort and energy into what we believe in.. And proud to be a part of it!!! :)

We are from Tyler and went to the open house at Coolidge. Though it seemed like mostly Tyler families were there, a very nice lady came up and welcomed us to the school. Her children attend Coolidge and she came to the open house to be friendly and welcome us.

I heard no negative talk about the LI at this event and actually hear very little negative LI talk at Tyler.

In truth it is hard to judge exactly how many people are against this and how many aren't or just don't care. You can say that the community is against it but who really knows for sure?

If I remember correctly, Coolidge is going to be the largest of all LPS elementary schools. They should care.

PS: I hope to God if this LI happens they do something about the parking at that school!

My children attend Coolidge. The parking there is a nightmare...I hate to see it if the LI goes through. I didn't think it could get any worse...

The parking lot is a nightmare. I can't imagine it handling several more buses and parents who choose to drive their children to school instead of letting them take the bus. I have also heard next Fall they will be redoing 7 mile between Middlebelt and Farmington. Another added nightmare if you are venturing in from west of Merriman.

I watched the board meeting tonight and saw Kathy Lambert speak in support of the LI. She basically said most people at Tyler were supporting the LI. I agree that all I've heard at Tyler is that people are disappointed but no one really outraged about this. I sure hope, however, that she did not give the impression that she was speaking for all Tyler families.

I am beginning to think that the CFLF is made up of mostly Taylor parents or it so it seems.

I probably wouldn't be as opposed to this if I lived east of Farmington Rd. But, for those of us west of Farmington, they have left us with no nearby elementary school. Coolidge is over 3 1/2 miles away (and I always thought Tyler was far!).

I believe in giving your opinion, but Ms. Lambert should not have given her opinion on how other Tyler families feel. I know of many families personally who do not like this thing. They go to Tyler and Taylor. Remember, there will be no schools on this side of town if this happens, and I am sure many people are upset about that.

That is something I am most upset about. They should have merged Tyler and Taylor. Or even better, kept Marshall Elem. open. Those schools are nearer to me then Coolidge. I remember this was one reason Tom Bailey voted against the plan (because it leaves a large area of the city without a school).

She DOES NOT speak for all of Tyler!!!!! She is speaking for herself but thinks she is a Tyler majority...She rides a pretty high horse with the PTA. And I think gets her facial expressions at meetings from Ms. Toaramini(sp). It is terrible to say the least..We recieve all this transition stuff with her name on it ..Disgusting!!! She was the one chosen to be our ( I forgot what it is called) for Tyler.. Jm is passing out buttons saying "I support the legacy inititiave(sp)" with lps logo on it. I do hope this is not at ours schools expense for this to be done..There are MANY parents at Tyler who DO NOT AGREE with this plan!!!!!!!!!!
