2 of my kids go to Coolidge. It appears nobody there cares much about what's happening with the LI...

I hate to say it, but the families in schools that aren't closing don't seem to care. But, I suspect when they really get information about the LI that will change.

Not necessarily true. Our school (Randolph) is not closing and we care.

Parents that don't have elementary aged children think it won't affect them. Oh, it WILL affect them when they pack 'em in like sardines at the middle schools  We'll see how mad they are when they put 3 to a locker and stuff starts getting stolen!

We have just begun to fight!
Our school is not closing, but the Grant Community cares. It cares to the tune of 3 Liaisons and 24 volunteers participating in fundraisers, and an overwhelming reception by people in the Grant Neighborhood to sign petitions circulating to homes & businesses.

Wait 'til your home value goes down because Livonia Public Schools is not as desirable as surrounding areas.

I wonder why?

They have to know it will affect them one way or another. Over crowded middle schools and 5/6 schools, bus rides, closing schools, property values???

What's to like about this?

Maybe some of them will wake up tonight when they take there soon to be 7th graders to Holmes tonight and realize how crowded it is going to be. The LI is not just going to affect neighborhoods where schools are closing, it will affect all of Livonia. What are some people thinking?

In our neighborhood, we are the only ones even bringing it up. We're the only ones for blocks around that had the lawn sign up. We have several neighbors waiting for us to stop by with petitions.

Well, I wonder if by you taking around petitions, it will spark your neighborhood into action?

I do know that some people just "go with the flow" no matter what. I used to BE one of those people, but not anymore. This is just WRONG!

Maybe if you asked a neighbor to help with the petitions, it might generate more interest? Everyone might realize it's not just you against it.

Good luck to you with the petitions. It was pretty easy to do. People are very willing to sign.

I agree with all.

People may not be speaking at Coolidge, but there is support for the cause.

I was at the Holmes open house last night. Even with splitting the parents into two groups, they did not have enough room for everyone. The parking lot was packed.
People were parked in non-parking spaces. The gym was standing room only.

How are they going to have recitals and concerts for the kids involved in music?
Will you be limited to a certain amount of guests? They will have to hold more than one recital/concert to accommodate everyone. What about after school
activities? Will there be enough room?

My impression was that it was overcrowded and that was only half of the school with their parents. Administration of the school was very happy with the turnout.
I guess it's job security.
