Those of us who donated money have all retained him now. Hopefully he now has a lot of clients in Livonia! I agree that having him at the next meeting to answer questions would be a good idea and well worth the money. |

has anyone thought how the school board will pay for a legal battle? is it going to be taking money away from the schools? |

I'm sure they have a legal fund/insurance set-up up to protect them. What business wouldn't? If they don't, that's risky. Anybody can sue the district. Does everyone know that LPS does not employ nurses in the school? I guess they figure no one will ever be put in a life threatening situation. Should a situation like this arise, would EMS arrive in time? Sounds a bit risky to me. I forgot....this would cost money. Can you put a price on someone's life? I have to believe that they carry some type of insurance in case someone sues them. It just makes good sense. But then again, we are talking about LPS here. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't |

FYI, In researching school districts in the Chicago suburbs, I was shocked to see that the majority of their schools have nurses! |

My understanding is that they do carry "insurance" to cover being sued. That's what was said at the meeting by the former mayor, who spoke quite eloquently. Anna Krome |

does this insurance cover legal fees? insurance usually just covers the cost of a settlement which is not the case here. i would hate to think that our tax dollars and state funding would have to be used for this instead of going to the kids. |

If there is a chance that school $$$ would be at risk, the BOE should do the right thing. |

Good questions. Maybe we should contact Mr. Morganroth and ask him, or Steve Futrell, who has volunteered to be the president of CFLF. Anna Krome |

I believe that if there is a child in school with diabetes, the LPS is required by law to have a nurse employed at the actual school. I know of one school that has at least 2 students with diabetes and no nurse is employed!!! A friend of mine who lives in Northville has a child with diabetes and exercised this right with them. They did hire the nurse for her!!! I wonder if LPS knows they might be breaking a law????? |

Ask Mr. Lessard he seems to know the laws.

Some people are concerned about a recall and do not want to be invovled because of the money the district would have to pay for elections, both for the recall and for election of new board members. Is this a reasonable argument? Does anyone have an idea of how much this will cost the district? and which fund would pay for elections? |

We have just begun to fight!
|
The elections would most likely come out of the city operational budget and I have heard they would cost approximately 60K No real data here, just what I have been told. |

I thought it comes out of the city budget as well but I am not sure either. |
