Grant1,
Do you want the petitions with all the signs....from over the summer ..about k-and the big class size. We were not able to get anything from the board.. We fought them but nothing. My child is now in K at Grant and I'm thinking .....He will not read when he enters 1st grade at Grant. We fought for all kids to stay at Grant and not to be sent to Nankin Mills. But, we also wanted smaller K classes. WE ARE AT 28 PER CLASS...Thats crazy.
What can I say...The board is not going to change...

We have just begun to fight!
The board will change when we make the change. Numerous strings on this forum have shown that there are many good ideas out there that have either not been explored, or have been ignored. There is always a better way of doing business, it just requires strength, determination, values, and commitment.

For the record, I have 2 children at Nankin Mills that have attended/are attending Kindergarden there. My 4th grader was reading solidly before he left kindergarden and my current kindergardner is already beginning to read. My children were not unique in these results. Both am and pm class sizes are 24 and under. Class size really helps, but Nankin has an excellent Kindergarden teacher and para-pro!

My son also attends Nankin Mills. It is a wonderful school. I have a child starting Kindergarten next year and I'm very disappointed that he won't be able to have the same teacher and paraprofessional that my oldest son had. I guess it is always possible those teachers will be transfered to my son's new school! I'll keep my fingers crossed!
