Anyone who is willing to pass out fliers, please download them at citizensforlivoniasfuture.com or email a rep. listed below, closest to you, we have fliers for those who can't print their own.

Roosevelt area: lpspropsalsrbad@sbcglobal.net
Hull area: sparty1991@sbcglobal.net
Adams area: gallikrome@earthlink.net
Washington area: jodygirlh@twmi.rr.com

PLEASE help if you can! This effort requires involvement from the community. The main group that is organizing all of these meetings and the recall petitions, have hundreds of hours invested. We have been meeting a minimum of once a week, and have had 4 meetings just this past week. We would appreciate any/all help!

I was told they could not be anywhere on the mailbox. That I had to put them on/in the porch & door or in a newspaper slot.

I was just wondering because solicitors stick flyers on(not in) my mailbox all the time. It's usually rolled up with a rubber band and attached to my little red flag.
The avon lady hangs her little baggies of stuff on my box too. Is that not legal?
Is it considered o.k. because it's not in the box?

Can a a flyer/envelope be put it in someone else's mailbox without being mailed?  What if a stamp was placed on it?

Postage must go through the Postal Service™ and be delivered for it to be valid postage and therefore acceptable in the mail receptacle.  A flyer cannot be placed in a mailbox after putting a stamp on it unless the item was actually mailed.

"No part of a mail receptacle may be used to deliver any matter not bearing postage, including items or matter placed upon, supported by, attached to, hung from, or inserted into a mail receptacle. Any mailable matter not bearing postage and found as described above is subject to the same postage as would be paid if it were carried by mail."

The key to this statement is in the term "postage" which is defined as: payment for a delivery service that is affixed or imprinted to a mailpiece, usually in the form of a postage stamp, permit imprint, or meter impression.

For further questions (or to report occurences) regarding flyers being placed into your mailbox without first going through the postal system, please refer to your local Post Office™.

So the next time you see the Avon Gal, tell her shes breakin' the rules.

This is exactly why I have been instructing everyone that flyers, etc... can not even touch the mailbox. When I ran our Cub Scout Pack we got gigged by the USPS for hanging "Can Do" bags on the mailbox hooks meant for newspapers. I thought it was ok, but was informed we were breaking the law...rather rediculous since the Scouting Food Drive is done in for the good of all, but it is the law.

Thanks! I'm glad we are being careful and doing this by the book. I guess a lot of people are breaking the law and they don't even know it. Maybe a should put a
"No Solicitors" sign on my mailbox. Shame on the Avon lady!!

Does anyone know if we could stick the flyers on cars in the school parking lots?
I'm sorry if this was already answered somewhere else and I missed it.

I don't know about your lot, but ours is all teachers/administrative/custodial vehicles, and I don't think the administration would take too kindly to this, and I don't think there are but a few teachers that would dare attend the meetings. The best way to utilize the parking lots would be to hand them out to the parents in thier vehicles during pick-up/drop-off times.

What about putting flyers on the cars in parking lots? For example, west borne market , taco bell, mcdonalds, dollar tree etc.. ?

I have not heard of any laws prohibiting this

I was referring to placing on the windshields of parent cars at drop-off/pick-up time. A lot of parents arrive early and are standing around waiting for the bell to ring before they leave.
