Time to go back to detective school Dick Tracy! I have been visiting this site since early November and have never posted under any other name. That must mean that there is more than ONE person that thinks differently than you? I think there are many people in the community who either disagree with the opposition or are still trying to listen and learn. Accurate information and reasoned arguments are what are most helpful. I see lots of "high fives" and "that a boys" on this site- many great cheerleaders. It's all over for anyone who tries to offer a different opinion, even if we work hard at not reacting emotionally to issues we disagree with. Sooner or later, the site will be full of people of only one opinion. Will that be the best thing? After all, aren't you still trying to "educate" the community? There was an outrageous, antagonistic poster last week (moveon I think?) I don't think that approach or name calling, benefits anyone but I hope I, my CAPS and others will still be WELCOMED to post. |

Of course ALL are welcomed to post. I think there are A LOT of very intelligent people on this site that don't like to be "baited" just for fun. It seems as if that is what SOME of the posters were trying to accomplish. As for reacting emotionally.......I think some of us (ME ) can't help it when we're talking about our kid's

I am open to other points of view. Why is the LI good for Livonia? What the Demo Comm and Dr Leipa has presented has not convinced me it's the right plan. I wish I had more proof that it's the best thing for my kids. l |

"After all, aren't you still trying to "educate" the community?" anothermom, This is a little snide. Why not educate ME? The only issue is: What does LI do for the children? Some folks like to argue and bait w/o logic or facts in a SUBJECTIVE manner to gain REACTIONS. For the hundreth time, what SUBJECTIVE fact can you provide, which supports LI? anothermom: "It's all over for anyone who tries to offer a different opinion," Please offer another opinion. What is YOUR opinion, except to say that you have one? Anna Krome PS: Where have all the GOOD GUYS gone? I believe Council is offering strong ADVICE to stay away from their "livonianeighbors." |

Is calling someone Dick Tracy allowed? If so, how do you know when it OK to be on a first name basis? |

I am new to this forum, but I've been reading posts all morning. I've also volunteered to be on my school transition team and probably the district one as well. Our family is not in the position to move or send our children to a private school. I attended a private school grades 1 -12. So my experience with a public school was very new. I am happy to say that the experience has been wonderful. I firmly believe whatever happens that the wonderful teachers and staff will continue to give our children in the Livonia Public School system a wonderful eductation. |

Very good post MominWestland, and I am sure nobody here thinks that your last statement ( I firmly believe whatever happens that the wonderful teachers and staff will continue to give our children in the Livonia Public School system a wonderful eductation. ) is not also the truth, but dosen't it worry you that the citizens were not consulted on this?. That the overwhelming majority of the committee had no stake in this plan ( no children in the schools, don't live in Livonia School District, are associated with past and present school board and administration )?. That concerns and public surveys were ignored ( 65% said no proposed changes in a survey )? That the only protections in this plan deal with administrative and union salaries, and not children? God Bless you for your efforts and your positive outlook, but be cautious regarding being a part of a team that may end up being the sole point of interest when things may not go smoothly, or when the general populous finally sees what damage this may cause. Take Care and Best Wishes |

Grant1 Thanks for the kinds words. Trust me I was (and still am) very upset about the LI and how it was approved. But I need to be involved in the transition so I can do what I can to help my children and hopefully other families through this. I know change is hard so I'm doing what I can to embrace it for now. Best Wishes to you too and Thanks again! |
