Please bear with me. I'm not trying to be rude, just interested and curious.

Assuming all goes as planned for the injunction and recall (replacements? - I'd like to do it, but I'm afraid I would stink - plus it would cut into my blogging time).

What will the new plan be? The K-6 or K-5? I'm cool with either of those

My uneducated guess? I would assume that an injunction would retain K-6 for at least the near future. With a Recall, were it successful, eventually there would be a election for new board members. It is anyone's guess who will be elected, and how they will vote on any future initiatives.

In layman's terms, an injuction will "freeze" everything. No action can be taken such as signing new contracts, buying/leasing more busses, tearing up parking lots, etc.

Law Dictionary:

temporary injunction
The purpose of a temporary injunction is to maintain the status quo and prevent irreparable damage or change before the legal questions are determined. After the trial the court may issue a "permanent injunction" (making the temporary injunction a lasting rule) or "dissolve" (cancel) the temporary injunction.

preliminary injunction
a court order made in the early stages of a lawsuit or petition which prohibits the parties from doing an act which is in dispute, thereby maintaining the status quo until there is a final judgment after trial.

I've personally talked with Mr. Knapp. He is not happy about the school closings.
He does understand the impact of this proposal and what it means to our city.

Once people are certain the recall will work, you can be sure the candidates will start popping up quickly. I think most want to stick with k-6.

It will be interesting to see how many candidates will appear. We are sure to have some very qualified people running. Some of the requirements should be:
1. Pass a hearing exam.
2. Know how to use basic email features to respond to citizens.
3. Acknowledge that community input DOES matter.
4. Don't assume a school across from a Toxic site is safe!
5. Realize any new plan requiring an additional 4,000 children to be bussed is not in anyone's best interest.
6. Realizing that a "puzzle" is not complete when 1/2 of the pieces are missing.
7. Able to ask for professional input when taking on a task beyond your qualifications.
(I believe this is in the BOE bylaws.)
8. Ability to think "outside the box".

I will stop here so more people can post some requirements they feel should be added to the list.

ALL are fantastic requirements c3! I'll put my two cents in as well..............

#9- BEFORE (not after) forming ANY commitees involving OUR children, ask the parents of said children if they would care to be involved on such a committee.

#10- Limit amount of BOE members allowed to sit on any given committee, making room for parents to sit on committee's involving their children.

Next.......................

Maybe realize that children are more capable to deal with new situations than parents give them credit.

Maybe, if the recall vote passes, parents will realize that the plan is already underway and almost complete.

Maybe when you send your children to private school, removing more money from the school district, your home values will decrease. (More so than the people who proclaim the change has already hurt it)

Or is it, parents nowadays can not seperate their past from their children. Maybe, we should do like our parents and let the school be our kids place. Yet, every time I had to go to pick up one of my children from school early, parents were in the way, acting as if they work there, and generally invading a place that does not need the 24/7 care of parents. Let your children grow. You do not have to be a parent and a guardian all of the time. But, I guess I grew up in the 70's and went home to an empty house for an hour and a half before my mother got home! Gee, how did I survive that long without Daddy wiping my butt or my after school breast milk.

Deal with it because the change is going to happen no matter what you do to stop it. I do not like it but know it is going to be done.

OMEGA. this means you will donate money for the recall,, execellant, and hopefully the injunction will pass, and this means everything to freeze as is.. do you understand that?
