Hello,

I am a Adam's parent and have a friend that is thinking of moving into the old McKinley neighborhood, but now her children will be going to Grant. I don't know anything about the school. Do they have a SACC program for her? Is communication good between the teachers and parents? She is a single parent and works long hours to support her children she needs lots of communication. I did check your website and your test scores seem really good. Are you all TRUE GRANT SUPPORTERS? I would really like some feedback for her. She has a 2 sons, one in third and one in 5th.

I have a kindergartner at Grant and like it very much. I am probably not the right person to reply, since I have only had a child there since the beginning of the school year. I will tell you that I am in Grid 3 and have been removed from the Grant district and put into the Garfield district and could not be more unhappy. I will either grandfather into Grant or leave LPS for private schooling. I'm sure there will be other Grant parents that will reply to your post. By the way, they do have a sacc program, but not K-sacc.

good luck to your friend.

We have just begun to fight!
I have had 2 children go through Grant in the last 7 years ( last one leaving after this year ). We have been through numerous administrations, PTA's, etc... , and I may be a bit biased since I grew up in this neighborhood, but Grant is an excellent school and the parents, teachers, and administration have always tried to do what is best for the Grant students. I have never had any issues with lack of communication or information when it came to my children at Grant, but then again, it may be because my family has been active, involved, and work with the school, and have for a long time...?

I have a third grader at Grant and my kindergartener will be coming to Grant next year for first grade. I love Grant but I am also a very active parent at the school so I have no issues. My only caution about moving to this area is the transition to Cooper...this is a huge concern of mine...especially when construction begins on the old Cooper site. Please read forum topic (Cooper/Emerson/Franklin) under Livonia neighbors.

I have a 5th grader and one in kindergarten. We, too, are in grid 3 and will be grandfathered into Grant (since we cannot do private schools at this time). My kids love their school. We haven't had any issues at all. As mentioned by grantmom, my only concern would be moving over to Cooper. Since we are in grid 3, my kids will move over to Johnson.
