Are you so ignorant...that what you just posted is fundamentaly wrong? And by the way...there are districts in Michigan who operate on less money than we and have higher test scores and run more efficiently then LPS. Havent you learned there is more to life than money. |

I have it all right here in front of me............Where is the research? I see 3 sets of numbers (savings for each plan considered)---all are close to the same amount. I see 3 different maps, you can get those on map quest. I see a list of advantages and disadvantages..........NOT ONE THING PERTAINS TO THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF STUDENTS. Savings by closing buildings, duh...doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out! I see LARGER SCHOOLS, I see an extra TRANSITIONING that is not necessary. I have yet to see one time COSTS, transportation COSTS. Balancing enrollment? 900 students in a school balances the enrollment??? Efficient use of K-4 and 5/6 teachers to improve programs? Any consideration for teacher collaboration time? The November 12th presentation did not cite any references for these advantages. They listed some valid disadvantages.....Higher initial one time costs--HOW MUCH? Additional transition from one school to another--DID THEY READ ABOUT THE NEGATIVE IMPACT IT HAS ON STUDENT ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT? Large 5/6 and 7/8 schools--LARGE SCHOOLS ALSO HAS A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. 5/6 upper elementary schools a longer distance away--IT STILL SEPERATES THE NEIGHBORHOOD, JUST AS THE K-5 AND K-6 PLAN WOULD. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT..............This is what is IMPORTANT!! ACADEMICS..........This is what is IMPORTANT!! Yep, I do get emotional...I have answered your questions regarding research. The presentation had figures and opinions...it did not cite any research. But it was a beautiful slide show presentation..........I bet that was figured into the savings too! |

Perhaps you are so ignorant that you do not realize that YOU have the biggest impact on your child's educational achievement. Additionally, I personally know students who are, or have been, transported very far from their homes as part of the ACAT, MACAT, CAPA, and MSC programs. These students do not suffer as a result of these long bus rides. If anything it builds patience. P.S. Cindi, I think you are a very poor choice for the BOE. Emotion doesn't get things done in a practical manner. |

to xyz-321 or whatever! You obviously have no children involved in this do you? How about having your kid shoved thru very crowded halls at the new 5/6 with 900+ students how about a 5-mile bus drive for your child, or how about walking into a huge lunch room to look up and see nobody you know!!! You have no idea what this sucky proposal has done,,I will be home schooling |

"Policy is not to lease" Policy?, or sustainable law? Don't confuse the two And after all is said and done, the property does belong to the citizens of Livonia |

You are right, I don't have any kids. That is because I am a student in LPS. You talk of all these negatives but I don't see how they will have a significant impact on myself or any other students in the LPS district. Sure, some will be moved and others will have to make new friends, but few students will be horribly affected. Also, regarding the bus ride, I have been through ACAT and MACAT and had those 'terrible' bus rides. They are not that bad. Lastly, I look up in my schools lunchroom and see all these people I don't know and it is great. I know I have an opportunity to make new friends and meet new people. |
