Has no significant adverse side effects on the majority of the student body???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I bet you could say that about a lot of things. Unfortunately, it is usually discovered that what ever is "good" today is not always "good" tommorrow. When it comes to my children's education, I prefer things that have been proven to work.
This configuration has not been proven on a district of our size. The majority of the community does not agree with it or support it. It is doomed to fail without adequate support. I do not want my child to be an educational experiment for this district. Our children will lose much while the "kinks" of this plan are worked out.
It's the wrong plan at the wrong time!

This is a quote from some info that was given to my child from LPS last year
(during human growth and development):

STAND UP FOR YOUR BELIEFS AND VALUES

One of the most difficult things you will ever do is speak up for your beliefs and values, especially if they are not shared by the people around you. This may mean standing up for a friend who is being harassed or speaking for a cause you believe in. You will like yourself better if you are true to what you believe.

We need to stand up and fight for what is right. I seriously doubt that XYZ-321 is a child. He/She know too much. As far as the community goes more people, including people without children in the system think this the wrong way to handle this budget problem. Wait and see what happens when we start the recall process. One of my senior neighbors came up to me and said she would help with the recall. What does that tell you. Wrong is just wrong. The BOE and Dr. Liepa will learn a life lesson from this legacy. The Legacy will be ours, not theirs.

None have you have provided any credible adverse effects which the Legacy Initiative will have on the student body. I agree that there will be "kinks" in the plan, however, this plan does not affect the fundamental learning environment and learning experience. The students will still go to their classroom, listen to the teacher, do schoolwork and homework (providing the parents enforce that), and learn. Additionally, this plan is "good" for tomorrow. It plans for declining enrollment.

LPS, transportation for all
To anyone who doubts that "transitions" negatively impact students....

I can personally vouch for the fact that they do. I don't have to read anyones research or
"speculate" whether it will or will not in the future.

I have lived thru it first hand when I was "forced" to change schools (3) times by LPS.

It wasn't because I was going to a special program(mcat, acat, etc...) so yes, I was NOT
looking forward to the change. I moved with many of my friends who also went thru this,
so no, it wasn't just me that had a hard time, they were negatively effected also.

And I can vouch that I was not affected by the transition... Perhaps f11, you had a rough time. Everyone has a problem with something. F11, please read my post on December 24, 2005 at 2:00 PM. It is on page 12.

I was responding to Bmom in my last post---not Rose. Sounds like you have had first hand experience with transitions, Rose. It doesn't sound like something I want to put my children through.
