I'm beginning to think that they did this so close to the next school year hoping many parents would feel they had no choice but to send their kids back to the LPS. I don't believe for a second that they didn't know about this years ago. I'm looking at close districts that participate in the school of choice program ... my kids will NOT be attending LPS next year even if I have to move. |

I can't believe that you are all so upset. (edited for malicious content) If the decision were up to me I would choose a longer bus ride over (edited again) I will stay right where I am and send my children to their assigned schools.....and I am giving this Legacy Initiative a chance. Good luck with your recall attempts. I will not be signing any petitions and I will be encouraging my neighbors to do the same. |

So you support the Legacy initiative because you dislike the Catholic church. Never heard that one before. You must not watch too much news because a child can be abused at any school- public or private. |

What does any religion or parochial school have anything to do with agreeing or disagreeing with the Legacy program??? My kids will not be going to Catholic School .. they will be attending a local district that is part of the school of choice program ... and wouldn't you know it they have NO funding problems or any decline in enrollment ... in fact they spend almost a $1,000 .00 MORE per child than LPS and again they have had NO enrollment decline ... they have minimal spots for the school of choice program ... Hey if you don't mind your K-4th grader being 1 of 150+ kids in their grade with a school with so many kids the principal cant possible know all of the kids ... hey your business ... if you want your 5/6 grader in a school with up to 1000 other 5/6 graders where the chance of them having a friend in their class is slim to none ... your business or when there are so many kids your kid doesn't get lunch till 1:00pm ... hey your business too ... those schools were not made to hold 1000+ kids ... Emerson is crowed right now ... Did anyone know that as of NOW the Middle and High school's have 3 lunched one of while is DURING 4th hour ... the kids go to 1/2 of their class ... go to lunch ... then the other 1/2 of class ... my oldest has that and it is VERY difficult for the kids to get back into what was going on before lunch ... add 100-150 more kids and you will need 4 lunches in the middle school ... some kids will be eating very late in the day or very early ... With over 65% of the parents NOT in support of this I don't foresee any problem getting 10,000 signatures for a recall and I tell you what ... my neighbor comes over to my house with an attitude like yours trying to give you opinion I would be telling you to get the he!! out of my house and to mind your own business ... you have a HUGE chip on your shoulder about something and I really don't care what it is but anyone came to me with an attitude like your and I would listen to NOTHING you have to say EVER ... |

For the record, the comment I made was not a malicious one but a factual one...thanks for the considerate editing....(isn't censorship grand?, Who deems what is appropriate or not?) - I do believe that there was not anything in my post that isn't in the papers or on the news at one point or another. MichiganMom - Trust me if I was your neighbor, I don't think we would have a neighborly relationship....I don't befriend close-minded people like you. I,unlike you, can have an adult conversation where opinions are exchanged and respected....seems you have a problem with that concept. |

Religion has nothing to do with any of this, and we will not get into any religious debates on this forum. Your faith is a personal choice and should be respected by all. Any such debates on this forum, or anything even close will be deleted without warning or explanation. |

We have just begun to fight!

I suggest, as others have for those who support the LI, to start your own forum to discuss your views between yourselves. It is counter-productive to anybody ( pro or con ) to have exchanges such as these on this BB. Thank You in advance |

Here is the link to check on the state report card from the Michigan Department of Education: http://ayp.mde.state.mi.us/ayp/index.asp You can view an entire district and also individual schools. |

I love this quote....close minded...what do you think you are saying? Your close minded as well. You are saying since Michiganmom has a different opinions from yours....you want nothing to do with them. Hmmm...sounds close minded to me. Do as I say...not as I do..aparently. |

Add my two children to the moving list. I hope to have the house on the market by May. That will give me a year to move (it may take that long). My kids are currently 1st and 3rd. I will NOT send my immune compromised son to Cooper, NO WAY. I fear that by staying I will only watch my home value drastically decline. I graduated from Churchill and came back 7 years ago for the schools. Last year I'd have told you I was here for at least 11 more years. 2x8000= another 16000.
