This site to me is too negative… It is all what you don’t like. So here is an Idea…lets find out what you do like. What areas of the proposal do you support? I for one really like the idea of getting rid of the Riley split. Also for the research I have done I support the 5-6 plan, but this is just my views! What else do you like? |

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I feel as if too much information has been thrown around here and I don't know what to be in support of. I will do my best to make sure my daughter transitions well (she will be going to riley next year) I will be involved in the transition committee I have heard about. I don't like the whole bus issue so I plan on driving her to school. I know a lot of parents at Hoover are leary about the bus, so I want to try to get some carpools going. I am not in favor of lower elementary going to school until 4:30. I don't know who thought up that one. I just wish that we can get some straight answers from the school board so that we all know what to expect. |

As I toss and turn each night worrying about my young daughter riding on a bus to a school with 1,000 kids, I try to think of something I like about this plan. So far, nothing has come to mind. Hopefully tonight will be a better night. But I doubt it. Also, the Hoover parking lot was a nightmare this morning. Just imagine how it will be with over 500 kids at the school. Yikes!! |

When the plan goes thru next year our daughter would be transferred to Hoover from Taylor. Can anyone from Hoover now tell me a little about the school. A lot of parents drive their children at Taylor and we are all wondering how the parking situation is going be? How are the progams and after school activities? Thanks |

The parking situation is terrible. Parents currently have to park down Ladywood and Sunnydale when they drop off/pick up their children. It would be nice if someone could communicate to us how things will be handled with all of the additional students next year. Hopefully that information will be coming soon. |

I happen to really like Hoover. I have a 1st grader and a 4th grader. As far as the parking goes, I think it is terrible!!!!! I don't know but it seems to be worse this year for some reason. If they don't do something about the parking, next year will be insane. Our staff and parents at the school are great (for the most part). I heard Taylor has excellent staff and wonderful parents also So with that being said, I think Hoover will be fine next year (a little crowded though) In my understanding Taylor will not be "coming over to Hoover". We will be combining schools in 1 building, keeping the Hoover name. Our PTA's will become one and alot of things will change!!!! The combination of your ideas and ours will make the school great!!! Welcome Taylor!!!!! |

Maxcox, Thanks for the welcome! We are torn between going to Hoover or private school...we are still looking into that. I have no doubts and believe Hoover is a great school! I would love my daughter to go there....but I am worried about the 5/6 school and her changing schools 4 times in her career. We are new here...so im not to familiar with the school system..but what i have seen so far...im not happy with the BOE. All the parents and teachers are great...and I know that if we send our duaghter to Hoover...she will do great! I wish they could just close some elementary..and keep the k-6 plan...maybe alot of parents would be happier. Except for the children going to Cooper...there is no way i would send my children there. I consider myself lucky on that issue. |

Grant, I do not in any way support the 5/6 model, but I am not ready for the private school thing yet. I still have faith in the LPS staff and I'm hoping it will be OK. I have daughter that will be going to Riley next year and I will make sure that I am involved in every way I can be to make sure that her transition is smooth. I am totally worried about the whole thing and I understand your concern. Hoover is a wonderful school, I dont think you will be disappointed. I think that the parents from Taylor and Hoover should have some kind of a social gathering for all of the kids who will be in Hoover next year. I will bring that up at the next PTA meeting. Taylor parents should also attend some PTA meetings at Hoover (that's allowed right?) They also should have an open house for Taylor parents and kids to come see the school and meet parents and staff. Just a thought. |

Maxcoz, That sounds great to me! I dont see why it wouldnt be allowed. I have no doubts as I said before that Hoover is great. I am really torn about private and LPs schools...but I feel that my daughter changing schools 4 times in 7 years...is just too much. I would love it if we could just be at Hoover until 6th grade. I would love to go to Hoover and have a tour and see how Hoover runs. Maybe it would put alot of Taylor parents mind at ease. I have faith that the teachers and staff are great and so are the parents..but my daughter has been shuffled around so much she needs some stability. And this plan just doesnt offer it. I hate the 5/6 thing...im trying to deal with it the best way I can. Being new here...the one thing I have to say about Livonia parents...they are there for their kids. They really are involved around here. Thats great. Im sure that parents from Taylor would love to meet their new family at Hoover...please let us know what we can do..and i will try to talk to the PTA at Taylor as well. Thanks |

Any input from Hoover Families. They've been really quiet lately. |
