This site to me is too negative… It is all what you don’t like.

So here is an Idea…lets find out what you do like.

What areas of the proposal do you support? I for one really like the idea of getting rid of the Riley split. Also for the research I have done I support the 5-6 plan, but this is just my views!

What else do you like?

I do support the plan, I'm not to keen on the idea of my daughter being bused so far away. But really like the idea of the 5th grade class finishing together. I can honestly say though if it were Kenedy closing I would feel much different.

I know I feel different than you. My child's school is closing and she will be transitioning 4 times before she graduates. Our elementary school is also in our backyard. As far as the 5 graders being together, they will be, a whole lot of them.

I agree, Rose. They will be together, but the school will be so huge, they won't
"feel" all that togetherness.

fyi, will they feel any togetherness? That is my question?

I'm being a bit sarcastic here. Yes, they will be together. No, they won't
"feel" like they are "together"? Get it? I think the huge 5/6 schools in this
plan are like detention centers for our 10/11 year olds.
I thought they were supposed to function like elementary schools. Last time I checked elementary schools have playground equipment, other grades besides
5/6, and 2 recess periods.

My husband and I are very excited about the changes occuring in our schools. We are in the fortunate position of not having our children in the schools quite yet, but we feel confident that once the changes take place they will be wonderful!

It is unfortunate that the current 4-7th graders will have to take the brunt of this reorganization. However, I really believe that the transition will be either as smooth or as rocky as the parents make it for them. They will all be moving together, I think that makes the playing field pretty even.

As for the playground equipment, we were told at our meeting at Kennedy that the school system would be building new playgrounds at the buildings that do not already have equipment. When someone broached the idea of simply moving currently owned equipment they were told that it would not be safe enough.

Both my husband and I went to Livonia schools K-12 and we moved here once I got pregnant so our children could go to Livonia schools as well. We have a lot invested here!

wow that seems like a lot of money to build all new playground equipment, I wonder if this was figured into the cost savings this initiative suggests? <_<
