I bought an IWay 250c just for street navigation when I travel to a new city. I have spent many hours trying to determine what benefit MapCreate would be for me and I am still confused. I only want to be able to get from the airport to my hotel, from my hotel to the customer's site and to find restruants in the vicinity. So far, the 250c has worked fine, but maybe is a bit lacking in the restruants area.

I have MS Street and Trips 2006 that I use to find the location of hotels on our company list and there poximity to where I am going. I also use it to find restruants. (I guess I am big on this restruant thing).

Would MapCreate be of an advantage for me and how would I used it. Would I be able to create an area map of say my distination city and create routes that I would need and load the map into my unit? Would this be any better than just letting the unit do the routing? If I load the map into the unit, would I still be able to get voice commands that direct me on my route?

I just don't want to spend $100 dollars for some software that does not benefit me. And I just cannot discern from the Lowrance website, the benefits of having MapCreate.

Doesn't the iWay come pre-loaded with maps? You shouldn't need MapCreate.

Mapcreate is for straight line navigation it will not provide turn-by-turn instructions, which is the intent of the automotive units. You will not get voice commands. They are only provided by the data on the card of the Iway 250C.

Warren,
I have an iWay 250C as well. It has everything you need for what you want to do. MapCreate is more useful for creating more detailed maps for a handheld unit like the ifinder.
