I'm on the phone as I type this, waiting to talk to Lowrance. I was trying to load the new software update for my H2O and XP does not recognize my card reader. This was only the second time I've tried to use the reader. Says that it is an unknown device. Tried trouble shooting it but no luck. This is my second card reader, the first one being DOA. Just finished talking to Lowance. They are sending me yet another card reader. Asked them if there was a known problem with their card readers and they said no, not really. How many of you have had trouble with your card reader? I'm a little bit worried about what happens when the warranty run out. Mameigwess |

No, not really? That doens't sound too convincing. I'm still waiting to order my Mapcreate software, but now I'm having second thoughts after all these problems that are coming up.

This replacement card reader will actually be number 4 as the first replacement got lost in the mail. Lowrance has been great about it and always has offered to send a replacement with out an argument. This time they didn't even want me to send them the non-working unit. Maybe when the new unit gets here I will open up the old one to see whats inside. Mameigwess |

I'm on number 4. Two seperate techs told me they had problems with the readers. That was 2 months ago. the more recent told me they sent thousands back to the manufacturer. They are very good about trying to accomadate though. |

Got my new card reader Friday. Hope it lasts. Lowrance said they didn't want the old one back. Maybe I'll wait a few weeks in case they change their minds and then open up the old one to see whats inside. It's interesting that XP can see the old card reader but says that it is an "unknown device". Your right, can't complain about Lowrance backing up their products. Mameigwess |
