Not sure if it as any truth to it, because I haven't heard from any reliable scource, just hearsay.

Rumor has it there is a Mapcreate 7 in the works and it could possibly be released soon, possibly this month.

I heard it HERE

Any thoughts? What do you hope they done with it, provided it is true.

I might hold off then on the purchase of an H2Oc and wait to see if a new version comes out.

I also hope they combine the US and Canada maps into one program.

Of course. I was just logging on to ask if there was a newer version coming up, because I was going to order 6.3! So I guess I have to wait a little bit longer.

This is interesting to me, too.

I didn't admit it here, but I lost my Explorer -- yes, lost it -- after our Penna. deer hunting season here in early December. The only thing that I can think is that I put it on the roof and drove off. If you knew me, you'd know that such a thing is so unlike me, but . . .

So, out of the goodness of my wife's heart, she looked at the box I had from my original Explorer Plus package and bought me the exact same thing for Christmas. Of course, since I already have MapCreate, I didn't need the software and the Plus package is about $80 more than the Explorer alone, which is all I really need.

I had been thinking about just returning or ebaying the package and using the proceeds for an H2O C as I've decided that is actually what I want based on my experience, but now this whole new software thing comes out, so I'm wondering whether I should wait and see what the H2O C Plus (with MapCreate 7.0) package might cost. Also, I'm wondering if I should unload the Explorer Plus in a brand-new, unsealed box before the new software announcement to ensure that I get the best price.

Argghhh . . . I've searched for an answer to this and there are very few, but it is looking increasingly that a new MapCreate is in the works.

I heard this in a Yahoo group, a guy had emailed Lowrance and this was their response:

This mapping has not yet been released to production but are
undergoing the final development stages. Many functions and features
can, and often do, change during this time. Any information we
provided at this time could ultimately be in error. Complete product
specifications, functions, and features, will be available when
these products are released to production and begin shipping to
retailers. We do not have a scheduled release date at this time.
Please check back to our website often as important information will
be posted there first. Also, once this mapping goes into full
production, in their final forms, we would be happy to address any
questions you have about them.

Has anybody heard anything more about a new version of MapCreate? Since this topic started, I haven't heard anything more. I'm wondering if there is going to be a huge difference between the two. I'm really wanting something more than looking at a "blank" map. So I guess the big question is "to wait or not to wait"

I wonder what they mean by this:

Quote:

A variety of accessory pack options are available with the DVD-ROM software, including an LEI MMC/SD card reader/writer, one digital media card, and with or without a 12-parallel channel GPS+WAAS satellite receiver/antenna.

I'm thinking this means you can run it on a Laptop with this receiver/antenna and see your position on the map screen??

Initially, I would have thought this meant that you could buy the receiver (or not buy the receiver) as an accessory pack. Like if you bought a Plus package, then you'd be getting a receiver along with the DVD. However, in re-reading and considering your interpretation, I think you could be right, but I guess we'll have to wait and see for sure.

It's odd that it specifically says "12-parallel channel GPS." What about the 16 channel models?

I worte to Lowrance about the Canadian version of MapCreate 7. This was the response:

"There is no immediate plans for the release of MapCreate Series 7
Canada; this is something that may be offered for next year."

So it looks like I'm going to have to order the 6.3.

I ordered that same day from GPS Central. With exchange and cross border shipping, it would be almost the same price. Thanks for the tip. According to the postal tracking, it could show up Friday.....I hope
