Well if it's not one thing it's another. I use the "workaround" to get MapCreate working without me needing to pop in a CD, and now it will not load any data files. I open MC, go to File, Open GPS Data File, select a file, and upon it beginning to load the windows error report pops up and closes the program. Has anyone else had this happen? I know we have all been doing the "workaround" but I haven't seen any ill effects till now, unless it is a totally unrelated issue. Just in case it matters, I have Windows XP SP2 on this PC. Any thoughts? |

That's a new one. Do you have your SD reader plugged in prior to starting MC? Might drop a line on Groundspeak (if you didn't already)...several folks that use the CD saver are there that I don't see here. Z |

I'll try it with the Lowrance reader plugged in. That is another thing I was trying to eliminate. I have a "Jump Drive" sized SD reader I use to shoot data files back and forth, and keep my encoded Lowrance reader safe at home for the rare event I need to make a new map. Up until now it all has worked smoothly. If I don't figure it out soon I'll probably bring it up on Groundspeak. I have this habit of solving problems about 30 minutes after I start a new thread. |

Well it just gets worse. MC will not even open with the reader plugged in, regardless of whether a card is in or not. That is the old Lowrance issue with Windows XP SP2. Because of that mess, right now my computer is refusing to recognize hardware, so now none of my readers, or printer will work. I'll need to re-start before I can try anything else. |

Tried again after a re-start, and I can run MC, but still no luck with it opening a data file. I did the repair option in Add/ Remove programs, and that didn't help either. I really don't want to do a full un-install, but at this point I'm not sure that would help either. |

Interesting. What options did you use with Alcohol 120%? Z |

I have been letting it slide for a while now, technically I can live without it, but it is annoying. (Plus I can use my other computer if needed.) I did open a thread on Groundspeak forums, but nobody has posted to it. I used all the check boxes in Alcohol 120 I believe. |
