Here is where you can discuss Robin's sense of humor (or lack thereof) in "Uncle Jokes." Review later, blah, blah. Edit: Sorry for slight lateness, both my browser and computer totally lagged at the wrong time. Feh. Edited by Killer Moth, Apr 9 2014, 06:34 PM.

The only good part about this episode, was that it aired with the new Batman short. Oh, and Raven likes Robin's jokes. That was cute too. |

Indeed, as she was laughing with Robin, not at him (or not mean-spiritedly). It's a nice counter-irony to the 2003 Beast Boy/Raven set-up, and his "I vow to make you smile with my jokes." Looks like GO!Robin is simply better than you on that score, 2003 Beast Boy. Burn! I actually did enjoy the episode with the meta commentary (Robin's "balance" remark) and the comedy deconstruction, until they actually did a song saying how unfunny Robin is. It really smacks the line and it's Exhibit Z in how utterly pathological the series is about disliking Robin. (Swear they must have hung out with the Young Justice writers, given that show's similar dislike toward Nightwing.) Now, had this episode debuted much earlier into the series and had we didn't know simply how much the producers actively hate Robin, it all would have been more tolerable. Otherwise, you know the same old complaints of taking an legitimately amusing premise, and running it into the ground, and what more could I say, week after week after week after week? However, here, BB and Cy were at their most selfless in recent memory, breaking up the band to maintain Robin's sanity. Given their general selfish ness in nearly every other episode, this is almost remarkable. At least, the Robin/Raven shipper within me was amused, even if the rest really wasn't amusing. Though, Star did a good job, as she's becoming the only aspect of GO I honestly look forward to, every week (save for the villains and the H.I.V.E. kids whenever either appear). Guess a broken |
