Due to reasons, this is getting posted an hour early tonight. You understand. Let's talk about some Silkie and how the boys are going to be huge douches in this episode like usual and make Starfire cry. Speaking of, I saw a screenie of Star licking the side of Raven's hood... it has me worried. |

I really really wish I could have covered this, but real life said "no." Anyway, some pre-lim thoughts: Spoiler: click to toggle So, no, "Missing" didn't suck, other than KM's voice being too different and GO Raven being GO Raven (borderline obnoxious, though, her reactions were mostly justified, especially over Starfire's "motherly" behavior over Silkie in certain scenes -- though, she could have lived and let lived, too). |

*cries* Is this show ever going on hiatus? Why do I keep doing this to myself?
She has that dopey look on her face the entire time she's on Silkie. Edited by Sparky 2.0, Mar 27 2014, 12:28 AM.

Yeah, this is probably the worst episode ever. Way too many references. The Scrooge reference was awesome and the only reason for watching... but the Neverending Story one, and the obvious one (IMO) to Powerpuff girls (Seriously... using Bubble's voice for Silkie and then basically turning KM into Mojo? Yeah.. please tell me it wasn't obvious to anyone other than just me....) just.. I can't even with this show. |

I was so shocked about their nearly quoting the Duck Tales song -- seriously, you can't even play it on YouTube, because of copyrights -- I kinda forgot about the Neverending Story and PPG references. As for KM into Mojo, I dunno, as KM didn't come as that pathetic (even though, most versions of KM are pathetic, to be honest). But I won't say you're wrong, either. I'm fine with continuity porn, as comic canon continuity porn is the one thing this show does right, but other properties? Well... On the other hand, at least, we haven't had many Star Wars ones, like the 2003 series did to freaking death (and most of them weren't that good, anyway). Bah. And why no Kitten reference? As she appeared well before her father did, in a nice and rare bit of foreshadowing. Oh, well. And what I watched didn't have the credits and IMDB hasn't listed the latest episodes, so still don't know who voiced KM. Bah, again. And no, it wasn't the worst episode evah ("Gorilla," that's the gold standard for crappy GO episodes), but I might be somewhat biased on this. ;) |

Well, Mojo wasn't always pathetic. It got worse as the series went on and they started revealing his backstory, but it felt very much like him to me. Scott Menville apparently did the voice. Wiki says Thomas did, but the TTGo wiki and three forums that popped up on a google search all say it's a modified version of Scott's "dramatic" voice. Which would totally make sense with Kary and Tara doing more voices for the episode as well. Edited by Nevermore, Mar 28 2014, 01:13 PM.

You're probably right, as I wasn't looking or my mind wasn't geared on Powerpuff Girls references, which I should have, given Tara Strong and the occasional PPG voice actor showing up in the 2003 series. I'll concede this for now. And, it kinda sound like Menville to me, too. Again, Church is a really busy guy, and Worden is also busy, so we'll see next time KM appears if the casting sticks. Hope not, but so be it. Given the show's "budget," this is to be expected with extra voice actors outside the core 5 -- though, they'll tweak casting if need be, as per Menville being Speedy. That was a deliberate choice, because of the comedy. Can't say that for the Moth, not yet. |

I really do think it's a budget thing. What sucks, is that Tara is really the only one who can do a bunch of voices. Everyone else basically has one voice with multiple tones. It felt like they had to edit Scott's voice for KM just to make it sound slightly different. |

Right, Walch does have range, and of course, Strong does, but not the males, alas. And I'm quite willing to buy the "low budget" issue on this, lest I hear differently. One slight compliment I'll give on KM's new "voice," I kinda liked the mechanical distortion effect, if only because it reinforces the "he's only wearing a costume" concept. As per his Titans 2003 look, there has been some debate on whether it is a costume or he bio-engineered himself. (And I'm for the former, naturally, but I don't begrudge those who think the latter.) Meanwhile, as for the dumpster diving, I forget if that was Robin's idea. Makes sense, given one of the truly better recurring character gags is his cheapness, despite being raised by one of the DCU's richest people. If not, then it's a lost opportunity to reference that, as that hasn't come up in a while. Bah. |
