One observation I've noticed on the occasional cartoon boards I read -- because I don't watch much TV, yet I'm now trying hard to do so -- is how Cartoon Network has really poured on the GO airings, lately. While this practice is not new, as cable network always do that toward popular programs, it does have the danger of oversaturating and could even undermine said popularity in the long run. (See Nick and Spongebob Squarepants.) The flip side of the argument is that the constant repeats show essential promotion, especially how fickle networks can be and enjoy the multiple airings, for it won't last, sooner or later. Anyway, the thread is ask your thoughts about the matter, as per the spike in GO reruns. And, yes, Cartoon Network did the same thing with the 2003 series around this time, 10 years ago, or so I recall. So, at least, they're consistent. |

The difference between then and now though is that then, the show was worth watching. I think really, they are trying to reach a wider audience with it right now because the age range it is made for, are usually getting ready for bed around when it airs. At least on the East coast anyway. But if you were actually trying to watch the channel, I think it would get annoying quickly. It's like trying to watch old school Adult Swim and having to watch the same DBZ, FMA, and Inuyasha episodes again and again when all you wanted was the time to pass so you could watch Space Ghost but nothing else was on and if you turned on a movie, you would forget and miss Space Ghost all together and then cry. |

True, as I thought the 9:00 PM EST for the first season and a half was a bit much for kids. And then CN came to its senses, and bumped it to 8:00 PM for the rest of the series. And GO's 7:30 slot is a good one for the target demographic, or good enough, as 7:00 would probably be better. And I do recall the endless Inu-yasha repeats, which is weirdly ironic, given how Adult Swim would hate the show and anime generally. Weird times. But yes, the endless repeats is a problem, as it shafts other programs that deserve equal attention. But cable is a funny beast like that. |

The only reason Inuyasha stayed on as long as it did was the rabid fantard fanbase it had. When you decide to stop airing a show, and you get a deluge of death and torture threats and other actos of terrorism in response, it's motivating. At least to CN execs. |

Which I can understand. It's why they aired Cowboy Bebop as long as they did (which I didn't mind. I just can't watch the last episode. I've seen it once, that is enough.) But some nights they were airing two episodes each of Inu and DBZ... that was overkill. It's like, are there really no other shows you guys can be airing right now?! |

And then remember the Naruto boom in the mid 00's, as that did kinda clash with the Titans' final season with all the multiple airings? But at least, one can argue repeating quality isn't always a bad thing... (as in the case of Cowboy Bebop, though, I never saw the series, never understood the popularity, and it isn't for me, anyway). |

Yeah, Toonami had it's problems too really. Especially when it started leaking out of the box. Bebop was awesome, but then... Vicious is a hot as hell villain and with Steve Blum voicing the main guy and making me fall in love with Spike and his green hair word by word.. yeah, I might be bias. |
